Definitely the best oriental/Chinese food it town. Usually do carryout, service very good and fast. Typically order fillet hibachi along with fried Rangoon and/or sushi. Beef very good for that type of food. Have dined in previously, service average, Hibachi cook (teppanyaki chef, had to look that up) OK. All I can say is that this place was totally an unexpected find in Springfield, OH! You do have to look past the exterior, but once inside this place is very welcoming and comfortable. Service was great, we were greeted and seated quickly, and there was little wait time when our appetizer and entrees arrived. We ordered the spicy salmon roll and yellowtail roll - both were great and fresh! We both ordered the Tokyo (shrimp and steak hibachi) and it was amazing. I've been to several Japanese steakhouses, but this one in Springfield so far has been the best (including those in Columbus and around Easton). This is a gem folks! read more

We stopped by Sake, which is my boyfriend's favorite sushi place in the world! I started with a hot sake and miso soup. Ironically the sake was scalding to the point where it hurt your hand to pour yourself a cup full and the miso was lukewarm. These temperature mishaps are the reason I docked a star. My boyfriend is obsessed with crab Rangoon and the one at Sake is his favorite. I'm not an expert on the dish, so you'll have to trust his word. The exterior was crisp and the dipping sauce was a slightly sweet soy sauce - all in all I enjoyed the dish. I had the spicy tuna roll. The tuna was fresh and the spice level was decent. Again, I'm not a sushi expert, but I enjoyed my rolls. Sake offered 30% off most of the menu so the price of the dinner ended up being quite reasonable. Sake now is your best choice for sushi here in W. Springfield. Service, cleanliness, and attention to detail, something that sadly is now less than stellar a few doors down at its sadly limping "cousin," Sakura. We had a great dinner here Friday night, and didn't feel like we were interrupting the waiters/waitresses, nor coming at a "bad time," which was the case our last visit to the other Japanese steak house choice down the street. Not sure if they're run by the same owners or not, but if you're in the mood, and in the area (still not quite worth a special trip...) this is your best bet for Japanese on the "strip." Sushi was not fresh and had to be sent back. Also, it was definitely pre-made and was at the table before anything else and in under 5 minutes! Im giving two stars because the food was edible, but not good. Our table all got the hibachi and received very minima interaction from our chef, which is part of the experience for us. We were one of two parties getting hibachi at the time, so the restaurant was not busy. The food was.... Food. The food is great. I'll get that out of the way. The stars I took off are for the management. I have a little bit of a thing for the Teriyaki Steak meal, with the rice, soup, salad, and Shrimp Tempura. This was about $16-17 - I figured the food was good enough, I paid the (maybe, maybe not) high price and enjoyed my lunch. Well, about 6-7 months ago, they raised the price on the meal by $2, and also removed the soup and salad. I would ALMOST be Ok with paying the extra for the meal, except that I love the soup and salad, and separately they are $2.50-2.75 each. So, I've taken to ordering the Bento Box that has a slightly smaller portion of Tempura and since I don't like sushi, I tell them to substitute soup, as the menu states it comes with salad. Except I got to the store and the clerk stated that it doesn't. Both the Beyondmenu app (which she insisted I needed to "update" -- I had just downloaded it) and their website state that it comes with the salad. She kept pointing at her menu (which I don't have if I'm ordering from the app...) and insisting it's not on THAT menu. So I'm standing at the counter arguing with this woman over a salad. But it's really good with the dressing. Whatever. I'm disappointed that they raised the price while removing items from a combo, and that they couldn't be bothered to honor the menu on their website when I ordered a specific meal. I am not going to patronize this restaurant any longer -- which kinda sucks, because the food is damn good. read more

Ordered sushi to-go during the week. Came home to find out that we didn't get one of the rolls we ordered and our shrimp in the shrimp tempura rolls weren't even deveined. We also didn't realize it until halfway through eating them! Extremely disgusted! Called and spoke to management who said she could do nothing but add a credit for the 3 rolls (missing, and 2 non-deveined shrimp tempura rolls) to use next time we come in. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We had a party of 11, 2 toddlers who were not eating, and 4 hibachi meals. Since we did not have 6 hibachi meals (half the total of our party) they would not cook in front of us. Those of us who did not get hibachi still spent money, we just got sushi instead. Then two separate couples came in and sat at a different hibachi table and they cooked in front of them. Just doesn't make any sense when we easily spent double what a couple would spend, yet they refused to cook in front of us because half our party didn't order hibachi. Love eating here. Typical hibachi experience or booth the food is always good. My wife and I often get the sushi though. We love the Yummy Yummy Roll here as well as several others. Heck even the tempura chicken is better than most other "chicken fingers" - plus there is Yum Yum sauce so it's a win-win. read more

The sushi is.... definitely made in Springfield. Sake's biggest selling point for me is its half priced sushi during the week. You can get two California rolls for somewhere around 5 dollars!! After arriving at the restaurant it took about 10 minutes before I was asked what I wanted, including drinks. The restaurant was a fourth full so it was surprising that there was a delay. My suishi did not get to me for 25 minutes, which was a bigger surprise since it wasn't busy. There a big suishi selection to choose from. The sake is very delicious as well. At no point did any of the waiters check on me or ask any questions, they seemed disinterested in the fact that I was waiting. Positives is the sushi, the negative is the service. I just ate here for the first time ever. I have high standards as far as a hibachi grill is concerned. I brought two of my boys for their first time. Not only were they completely enthralled with the entertainment the cook presented, they also LOVED the food (huge statement for my picky 7 year old). I have traveled around the country for work eaten in number of Japanese steakhouse & sushi bars. Saw the advertisement for this new place, and decide to try it out with a friend. This sake 3 is by far the worst sushi I have ever eaten.,,, and I got one word for this place C, H, E, A, P,(H.O.R.R.I.B.L.E.). But I guess it was part of our fault, we go in for the half price sushi. But for Japanese sushi bar to serve Chinese style buffet quality fish to customer it's ridiculous . (Sushi is all about the freshness and quality of the Fish and Rice for the management of sake 3) fresh tuna is deep red color and clear to see see through not pink or Orange,and cloudy. All I can say is you will never find me there again at that I forgot to mention my friend throw up after we left right inside my car I hope management of sake 3 I'll get the message and change the way they serve their customer. Overall not pleasant experience. There definitely needs to be a larger selection of drinks. There were not very many beers to choose from. Portioning out the food was not even close to equal. Literally one person had a mound of rice on their plate and we barely had enough to eat with our meal. Took my son who loves sushi. We ordered 2 rolls that were small and only had 5 pieces a piece, they were not good I was not at all impressed.. Also had the hibachi to eat I had kind salmon and steak. The salmon had a large bad spot in it that should have been seen before being put on my plate at all. The salmon and steak were both overcooked. Steak was supposed to be med rare and came out well done. My son ordered shrimp and chicken. Only half the shrimp wasn't cooked all the way through. Both of our plates had so much sauce on them that it was disguting, and I like alot of sauce but this was overboard. After we decided we were finished with our meals. Which was not long after we received them. We waited for 20 minutes for the waiter to bring the check. Which was ridiculous because we were the only people in the restaurant at the time. So after being served bad fish and badly cooked food. I will not be back. Then our bill was over 50 dollars, for small portions and badly cooked food. I told the waiter about the salmon and they did nothing about food I couldn't even eat. Not remade not discounted nothing. Bad fish is not something to be messed with and thinking that burning it will make it edible is not ok. We will not be back there and will not recommend it to anyone I know read more

I live in the Springfield area and decided to try both Steakhouses on the road, and I must say, Sake doesn't even compare to Sakura. It is an improvement from the last restaurant that used to be there, but it should have more hibachi tables. Not to mention that it doesn't have the noodles that Sakura has! Those are delicious! I'm also a big fan of the other restaurants yum yum sauce that they put on the salad. Sake and Sakura have the same deals on sushi and I find Sakes to be less fresh than Sakuras. Me and my friends came from Wright State a couple of weeks ago and were really excited to try out Sake but were disappointed in the end. The food was just bland and could be spiced up some! So in my opinion, if you're out and looking for good food, just keep driving past Sake and head to Sakura! Step it up Sake, you've got big competition! read more
