Located Right on Route 40, its truly inconvenient if you're coming from the Wrong Direction. However, its really worth it to drive past it, make a U-Turn on a Busy Highway, and then turn into the uphill drive to the private parking lot. . Meadows is VERY CONVENIENT to the Nearby Antique Mall, though, so this is a GREAT DAY TRIP for anyone making the Journey. All that being said, let's talk Food! . I was feeling a little heavy from breakfast, so I opted for the Grilled Chicken Salad. My wife, ever the Pork lover, ordered the Pork Chops with 2 Sides. Our food arrived quickly - around 10 minutes - and we were pleasantly surprised with two large dishes. . My Dish, a Grilled Chicken Salad, came in a Large Chilled Salad Bowl. To be honest, not a lot of Restaurants understand the importance and sheer luxury of chilled China ware when it comes to cool dishes like salad. . The Lettuce was chopped Iceberg. Every bite was fresh and there were no clumps of lettuce that hadn't been fully separat3d before prep. The tomatoes, were hearty Roma, and the cheese was a grated Mozzarella.Four marinated and crisp grilled to near perfection. Juicy and Crisp, these Chicken Spears were a perfect. So yummy and just barely sweetened by the vinegarette marinade. I only ate half. However, gobbled up the rest as we got home. 2 meals for me. . My Wife's Grilled zporknCops came with two sides. She chose Apple Sauce and Green Beans. The Pork Chops were also well-cooked: Crispy outside, tender within. She cleaned her plate and did the same with her beans and apple sauce. Mund you, she hadn't eaten all day, so even if she eats like a 5-foot-tall farm girl, there was enough to fill most anyone. On top of that, she left appy, so there's that. . Why a 4? Location, location, Location. If you're nearby: YOU GOTTA GO. If you're not, i can't see it being a Destination you'd seek out over a place 10 miles closer to home. We were happy with our experience all around. We got there at 4:45pm and were seated right away on a Saturday. The waitress was friendly and did a great job throughout the whole meal. The two bartenders thanked us for coming in and one of the employees who was arriving at work waited on us to cross the parking lot to hold the door for us and was very friendly. I never got rude vibes as others are suggesting and the service was at a good pace and done well. We have 4 prime rib dinners and they were all tempered right and everything we asked for we got. The onion rings were great the prime rib was awesome the patty melt was very good and we are already planning another trip to try more of the menu. read more

Stood at the front waiting for 20 minutes. One waitress did acknowledge that we were there and stated they would be right with us several times. A lady that I believe was the owner, walked by us with no acknowledgement. She came back a few minutes later and seated the 2 people behind us that had just walked in the door. Then walked away and never came back. We left as well as another group of 3 that were behind us. I was a manager in the restaurant business, and very seldom post reviews because you never completely know what's going on in the background. This behavior however is unforgivable. All someone had to do was let us know that they were on a wait, and it would be a while. We would have been fine with that. They could be the only restaurant open in Springfield and I will not go back. read more

I have been a patron of this place for over 30 years. I give it 5 stars for food and the waitress was amazing. Unfortunately the bartender who happens to be the owner's son was extremely rude. He used Canadian Club and water to make us an old fashioned. When we asked for a better drink we were met with anger, attitude and hostility. Stared me down with pure hatred in his eyes. Worst part was, the owner came in after the son got mad and left. She gave us the stink eye instead of apologizing or offering to comp our meal. I have never experienced such behavior in hospitality. So very disappointed in how we were treated and by the owners of this establishment. read more

Home cooking at its best! I had the chopped steak that ended up being good quality beef Topped with sautéed onions prepared perfectly. With a side of mashed potatoes and a rather large small spinach side salad, I was too full to consider dessert. Like a lot of places, they are running short on help, however, it does not seem to be affecting quality of the food or service. We will definitely be back for more! read more

First time eating at Meadows restaurant and I have to say it was very good! I got the chop steak with mushrooms and onions and a cup of loaded potato soup and it was absolutely over-the-top good. I didn't particularly care for the onion rings, but the french fries were delicious. My husband got the liver and onions and he said it was wonderful ! Our server Megan did a great job! The family went to Meadows after my son's baptism today. It was about 12:30pm. They were busy but only one person ahead of us. The bartender was throwing items behind the bar and when the young lady told him we were a party of 8 he started throwing more items, cursing and saying Fuck loudly. Then stormed out side door. We told young lady we were leaving and went to Los Mariachi's where we were seated quickly and made to feel welcome. We will never go back to the Meadows. read more

It's a cozy, homey, friendly, country roadhouse restaurant with full bar. Very inviting atmosphere. We sat at the three side bar just for a drink and an app. Had the Pretzel Bowl - wow, was that good. Comfort food to the max and hit the spot. Would definitely order again. The place was starting to get busy around 4:30 on Friday. Menu looked good. My husband was thrilled to see liver & onions on offer. There were about five staff members at work and I'm pretty sure at least one was an owner. I saw a lot of dishes coming to the tables. Service was great but it was midday and not too busy. Haven't eaten here in a decade or more but my husband suggested it instead of chain restaurants or fast food. The food we ordered was good, and there's several choices. I guess the environment was the only disappointment. It's dark inside with wood paneling everywhere. It just seems like 1970's and honestly I understand that because updating it would cost a fortune. I'm sure it's not a cost effective solution but it did bring down the experience a lot. Not opposed to going back but wouldn't probably be a frequent occurrence. read more

Went to The Meadows last night. After hearing all the raves on fb groups I had assumed it was a small upscale bistro thing, not a country diner and bar. This beer cheese filled pretzel bowl, and the onion rings, were the winners of the evening. The bowl should have been cross cut before serving as it was cumbersome to saw with a serrated steak knife and being pretzel bread it was definitely too dense, and cheese covered, to pull bread off with your fingers. It was messy as hell to eat, but delicious af. I think our party had the youngest adults there (mid 40s), and the fact liver and onions on the menu tells you the regular average age is probably 70. Service: waitress was okay, but service was incredibly slow. She warned as as sat us to give a few, but I didn't think it would be that bad, the place was by no means full. Took us 30 minutes to get water, after asking twice. And about 20 more for the bread bowls. And glad we ordered it since it was another 30 for the food. There were six of us, we all ordered the chicken fried steak special with variant sides. Everything we asked about was "brought in" so I think most of it comes in frozen. The chicken fried steaks were all perfectly uniform and round... so definitely frozen. Gravy was good, patty cooked well... No real complaints on flavor or anything else. We walked in at 6 and out at nearly 8. Felt longer. It's not in the area of town we ever go to, so I doubt we'll be back. We've had better similar food at Rip Rap Roadhouse in Huber that's closer to us (in Enon), and that's all in-house made *everything* and priced similarly. As an aside, they need to up grade the lighting, (to some white led bulbs in the can lights at least), it was dark in there. I shot this with an iPhone 13 Pro Max which can shoot incredible pics in the dark, so it looks like there is way more light than there actually was. read more

The service was horrible! After finally getting our food the waitress never came back to see if the food was ok and never once even asked if I wanted a refill on my drink. Never engaged in any kind of conversation. I will not be going back again. Mistake on waitresses part. I left a tip of about 20% but if she had been a good server she would have gotten a much bigger tip. read more

I have been many times and have tried most of the items on the menu and everything has been delicious so far. We got the patty melt and green beans, a bowl of French onion soup, and the cod meal with onion rings. Everything was wonderful, and it was wonderful when I reheated my leftovers the next day too. The food is always a 10 out of 10! Service can be slow, but they are always short staffed. We go back because the food is so great, we just don't go starving. Mundane food and poor service. There is no ambiance to speak of unless there is such a thing as hillbilly roadhouse. It took over an hour to get two sandwiches with chips. At 40 min we started in inquire about it and was told by the cook it was coming up in a few minutes. I would suspect the cook dropped the ball on this one. They were not overly busy but did only have 1 server. It doesn't take that long to cook a pork tenderloin sandwich .
