Enjoyable experience, good food, pleasant staff, fair prices. The entire staff was Japanese, seems like a big extended family, including teenagers bussing the tables. Service was prompt and our waitress was available for refills, and prompt with bringing take home boxes and checks at the end. We each had the Samurai combo which is filet mignon and lobster. I didn't think you could get medium rare with this kind of cooking but the chef asked everyone getting filet how they want it, and he did our medium rare perfectly. The soup was nothing special, just a broth but the salad was delicious, fresh and crisp with amazing dressing. Chef put on a great show and everyone was happy. I had the feeling he was smiling too, but sadly I couldn't tell as all the chefs were muzzled with those ridiculous masks. It's a shame the management doesn't put an end to that. Automatic minus one star for that. The portions were generous and tasted great. I liked watching the plate fill up little by little. The pyrotechnics were spectacular. He did the onion volcano to my delight. I have not seen the onion volcano in many a year. Two filet/lobster meals, 3 glasses of wine, one sake and one soda, with tip $117. The outside of the restaurant could really stand a face-lift. Inside is getting a little worn, but acceptable. The focus is the meal preparation and presentation so I was not studying ambiance. We picked up takeout for lunch. I ordered the sashimi and sushi lunch. The nigiri was a little on the small side, but the fish was fresh and tasty. The only roll it came with was California roll, which is cost effective for them, but a little disappointing for me. The pieces of salmon sashimi were just right. Wrapping the red snapper sashimi around sliced cucumber was a nice touch. The California roll was quite tasty though, one of the best I've had in a long time. The salad was typical iceberg with some carrot, and cabbage. The salad dressing was a creamy version of the standard ginger dressing. It was a little disappointing though, with not a lot of flavor. I prefer the more traditional sushi joint ginger dressing. The miso soup was really good though, a nice ratio of tofu and seaweed. I'd like to visit again and try to dine in next time. read more

The food is always good. The service for dine-in and take out has never been a problem for me. I've never had a problem with my orders being correct. Some of the cooks are very entertaining. Some try there best and do a good job, but they aren't as fun as others. The only thing I think needs improvement is probably the politeness of the staff. They've never been rude or disrespectful, but there are a few employees who never really seem that happy to be there. I understand it, though, so I'm never upset about it. So I live in Springfield and wanted to go to a nicer Japanese steakhouse so we drove to sake in Dayton. Not only is this place the same price as all the other alike places you get Half the amount of food here. No noodles no shrimp appetizers. I had to ask for extra rice because the serving was so small. The building used to be a ponderosa or something and it looks like it hasn't been cleaned since then. The men's restroom was disgusting. I'm positive the health department would close this place down if they seen what I seen. The grills are barely holding together and the entire restaurant smells like mold . We took our kids here for lunch for their first experience at a Hibachi steakhouse, and we all enjoyed it. Our chef was very entertaining, singing songs, flipping utensils, and squirting water in the kids' mouths. Our family tried steak, chicken, and shrimp. All were good, though the chicken was a little dry. Personally, I really enjoyed the fried rice and especially the veggies even more than the meats. We also opted to try the "Baby Octopus" appetizer, which we didn't like at all, but that's just personal taste. See my photo- it's one serving- a tiny little octopus on lettuce, served cold in a bitter tasting sauce. We like to try things we've never had before, but this is one we won't order again! If I could, I'd make this a 3.5. I bought a few rolls, beef negimaki, and squid salad. While everything was satisfactory, nothing blew me out of the water. I am fond of the New Orleans roll here...because I love crawfish. I was off put by the initial waitress we had. She didn't tend to us at all...just took our order and brought us our food. The younger one that ended up giving us our check seemed a lot more friendly. I think the prices are fair for the service and food you receive. read more

I love this place for sushi rolls and dumplings. The food is always so good, and the staff is very responsive and helpful.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. The entire experience was horrible. All the soup and salad came out at the same time as the chef. Our drinks didn't come until 10 minutes after. The chef just prepared the food and didn't even do any of the fun stuff(we sadly had kids with us). Our drinks were never refilled until right before we left. I had already paid my bill and, as I was leaving, I politely explained this to the manager and she literally didn't care at all. She actually got defensive. Sake is by far one of my most FAVORITE HIBACHI spot. You will most definitely be entertained by the cooks. You can even make reservations for larger groups. Arrived 20 minutes after completing an order that I was told would only take 15 minutes to make. My food isn't ready yet and my girlfriend is inside and just texted me saying they haven't even started making it yet. Cheaper than Thai 9 yes, but i suppose you get what you pay for. This place has great food. This is one of those places that grills up your food at your table as you watch. It is truly a form of entertainment. Many of the chefs will not only cook flamboyantly, but they'll do a few cool tricks too. I've been here a few times, but the best time was to celebrate a friend's 21st birthday. They happily gave him a pretty nice pair of chopsticks, packed into a decorative box. They didn't look cheap. A very nice gift, and to celebrate his 21st, they offered a sake bomb contest, which was also a bit of an entertaining event. I like this restaurant very much. Not the cheapest place--about $18-23 a person-- but worth the visit. The one complaint some might have is that the building looks pretty run down from the outside. Doesn't look attractive at all. The sushi (spider roll) was so fishy I literally almost spit it out. Neither of us could even stomach the thought of eating more, they were that bad. The chicken teriyaki bento box was ok, but the onions were mostly raw and the broccoli was such giant hunks it was almost impossible to eat. The shrimp tempura in the box was nice, very crispy. The vegetable tempura was crispy but the vegetables tasted old. The pork dumplings were standard. Teriyaki sauce on the chicken lacked flavor and the dipping sauce was simply soy sauce it tasted like. The California rolls were ok but we have actually had better at the sushi place in Kroger. The starter salad and broth were excellent although the salad was dropping in the dressing and was very messy. The server was pleasant but charged us for the uneaten roll even after we politely explained it wasn't good and we couldn't eat it. That will be the last visit here. read more
