Enjoyable experience, good food, pleasant staff, fair prices. The entire staff was Japanese, seems like a big extended family, including teenagers bussing the tables. Service was prompt and our waitress was available for refills, and prompt with bringing take home boxes and checks at the end. We each had the Samurai combo which is filet mignon and lobster. I didn't think you could get medium rare with this kind of cooking but the chef asked everyone getting filet how they want it, and he did our medium rare perfectly. The soup was nothing special, just a broth but the salad was delicious, fresh and crisp with amazing dressing. Chef put on a great show and everyone was happy. I had the feeling he was smiling too, but sadly I couldn't tell as all the chefs were muzzled with those ridiculous masks. It's a shame the management doesn't put an end to that. Automatic minus one star for that. The portions were generous and tasted great. I liked watching the plate fill up little by little. The pyrotechnics were spectacular. He did the onion volcano to my delight. I have not seen the onion volcano in many a year. Two filet/lobster meals, 3 glasses of wine, one sake and one soda, with tip $117. The outside of the restaurant could really stand a face-lift. Inside is getting a little worn, but acceptable. The focus is the meal preparation and presentation so I was not studying ambiance. Sake is a good choice for the Japanese hibachi experience.

    Sushi and sashimi lunch
    Meghan N.

We picked up takeout for lunch. I ordered the sashimi and sushi lunch. The nigiri was a little on the small side, but the fish was fresh and tasty. The only roll it came with was California roll, which is cost effective for them, but a little disappointing for me. The pieces of salmon sashimi were just right. Wrapping the red snapper sashimi around sliced cucumber was a nice touch. The California roll was quite tasty though, one of the best I've had in a long time. The salad was typical iceberg with some carrot, and cabbage. The salad dressing was a creamy version of the standard ginger dressing. It was a little disappointing though, with not a lot of flavor. I prefer the more traditional sushi joint ginger dressing. The miso soup was really good though, a nice ratio of tofu and seaweed. I'd like to visit again and try to dine in next time.

This place is great. We love it. Great food and good family time. They have a great menu with lots of options. A huge sushi menu too. The table service is great and prompt and pretty impressive with how busy they are.

"tuna tataki" absolutely was not seared, thinnest pieces i've ever sean, had BBQ seasoning, and only gave 6 pieces... for $12.

been going here for 7+ years, normally have a good experience. messed up my tuna tataki, brought me the wrong rice, floors are stickier as can be. people waiting on carry out blaring videos on there phone for all to hear for over 20 minutes, not one worker said a word to them. i had to ask for a box and leave. at least my sushi was alright, besides my $15 roll having 1/2 the amount of scallops than normal.

    Baby Octopus appetizer
    Amy S.

We took our kids here for lunch for their first experience at a Hibachi steakhouse, and we all enjoyed it. Our chef was very entertaining, singing songs, flipping utensils, and squirting water in the kids' mouths. Our family tried steak, chicken, and shrimp. All were good, though the chicken was a little dry. Personally, I really enjoyed the fried rice and especially the veggies even more than the meats. We also opted to try the "Baby Octopus" appetizer, which we didn't like at all, but that's just personal taste. See my photo- it's one serving- a tiny little octopus on lettuce, served cold in a bitter tasting sauce. We like to try things we've never had before, but this is one we won't order again! There's not much ambiance- we found the restaurant itself to be kind of dark and shabby feeling; the design was mostly worn off on all our plates.

I have never been handed the ordering pad to confirm my order like I worked there enough to really interpret the system menu - and still they managed to get my order wrong... then they never brought me the a cup of water to drink with my meal. Oh they forgot my spoon to use to eat my soup.... never came back to check in for me to ask for either of those things. Second- the food quality. It is not even close to old akashi. Anyone who has ever had fatty tuna.. knows those things melt in your mouth. The one today? Fishy taste and poorly cut (it was tough to chew and stringy). The 20 dollar wooguhji? The barest of soups.. barely any cabbage or egg... it was sad. Lastly store appearance. Their bathroom give me icks.. the mirror was so greased streaky.. ugh. We wont be back for a long time, if ever again honestly. And anyone who eats sushi... your sushi plate that is served never looks.... questionable. This was a first for me. And the whole time there was only one or two other parties in the building at a time. It was basically dead for a dinner hour.

We love sushi - travel all the way to columbus just to have some from the unofficial "japantown" at kenny center Upon arrival at 2 pm, not super busy but the store appeared bright and well decorated. We were directed to pick our preferred seating. Menus were brough quickly, drink orders we taken and brought out quickly. Sprites, came with a cup of ice. This was were it went downhill. My husband is allergic to shellfish, and we eat out understanding there is a chance of cross contamination based on what we order. He had a mild reaction - we determined his reaction was from the glass with ice, which indicates it was not washed well. Not a good sign... We ordered house lo mein, king salmon nigiri, tuna nigiri, tuna roll, and one chicken and vegetable hibachi. Sushi? The rice was long grain and unseasoned... it fell apart as my husband picked it up. The fish was.. ok.. not wowed. Even the king salmon was...just salmon and not anything amazing. My tuna roll never made it. My husband said this was the first time he had bitter ginger... he spat that back out - ginger is suppose to be a palate cleanser... Lo mein? Was ok. It was not greasy, which is what I usually encounter. Noodles were soft, but ok. Flavor.. lacking.. and there was a notcieable amount of sauce at the bottom.. so it was too runny. The hiabachi? The fried rice, saddest fries rice ever. It was hard middle and .. flavor was offputting.. this is coming from a girl that was raised to eat rice everyday in many forms. I love durian, and this rice manage to offput me.... the flavor was just weird. The hibachi chicken and veggies were the best part..sauce flavor was great and the veggies were cooked very well and chicken was juicy. So overall... would not recommend due to cleanliness (based on contact contamination from a cup) and... food was just meh

First impressions weren't great. The restaurant itself is small but clean, and I was greeted quickly, so the service side was fine. Unfortunately, the food didn't really match that same positive start. The fried rice looked and tasted pretty bland on opening--definitely needed extra seasoning. The General Tso's was okay, but nothing really stood out overall. The one highlight for me was definitely the crab rangoons. They were crispy, cooked well, and honestly the only thing I fully enjoyed. If I go back, that's probably all I'd order again. I tried adding soy sauce and the red sauce they include, which helped a bit, but it still didn't fully bring the meal together. Interestingly, after letting the leftovers sit overnight in the fridge, the flavors seemed to come out more and it tasted better the next day than fresh. Overall, I'd give it 2/5 stars. Not my favorite experience, but I might give them one more try in the future, mainly just for the crab rangoons.
