I have been coming to Saketome for quite sometime and enjoy the Sushi. It is really good for being in a landlocked state in a rural community. I would rate the food an easy 5 stars as well as thank the kitchen staff for their efforts. I hate going to Saketome because of one server... we all know the one (at least all of the people I've talked to Saketome about know her) Middle aged, blonde hair, AGRESSIVE. Now I'm a server myself so I understand how everyone can have a bad day now and then, but she is always inappropriate. First of all I have a peanut allergy, every other server says they understand and will let the kitchen know. She has said "well we can't do anything to accommodate that," and "then why are you even here?" And "we don't accommodate the allergy thing" On different occasions... like sorry I have a medical condition!?! I'm just asking you to write it on the ticket. I have worked at restaurants with the exact same POS system and I know you can type in a MOD saying *peanut allergy* so the kitchen knows. Every other server has been able to do this simple task, without making me feel bad for spending my money there, why can't she? The last time we went she forgot our drinks and never put them in and then tried to convince us to purchase an alcoholic beverage for her while on shift!?!? I love your establishment please train your staff on the ADA 504 medical condition act and consider having your servers take an alcohol training course... these things can get you into big trouble read more

Welcome to Saketome Sushi, the best sushi in Montana, especially for being land locked. The ambiance of the restaurant is what drew me in. The restaurant is located above a nice gallery in downtown Big Fork. I went in and was sat immediately. With absolutely no issue. Then I say and ordered a stunning gin bonsai with lavender,rosemary and mint. And the Nigiri Sake, which was as fresh as could be and tender to the touch. Not a hint of fishy flavor, just that beautiful tender juicy salmon over a light sushi rice. Topped with a tiny bit of Thai basil and paired with ginger and wasabi infused soy sauce. This was an appropriate appetizer and was just filling enough to let the cocktail settle in my system. Then they brought out the Spicy Goat roll. A stunning take on a spicy tuna roll, with shrimp and avocado. The touch of roasted Jalapeño and a slice of ahi tuna on top just made the course Devine. I ended the meal with a delightful conversation with my server "Heather" (and store manager), who gave me a little history lesson on the restaurant and made the experience even better. I'll give you a piece of advice, don't bother with traditions or with showthyme. Saketome Sushi is the only restaurant in Big Fork worth the money and time. They won't do it at all! We sat at the bar to order a drink a wait for our food. They won't do a to go order. Never before have I been told to call back and make an order. Apparently they're too busy for my business. Even a hole in the wall pizza place can say 'we're busy sorry your order won't be ready for 45 minutes.' Apparently here they expect us to call back and cross our fingers they aren't too busy to grace me by taking my order. What a joke. It's not complicated. If you answer the phone for a take out order kindly tell the customer the expected pickup window. Either the customer accepts it or they don't. But asking for a call back and hoping you can get the order then is about the most idiotic thing I've heard in my life. read more

Wow. This place is fantastic. First off, the atmosphere is beautiful. We immediately felt like we were out to a special dinner. I've included pictures. The bathrooms are even beautiful and clean (with real towels, not paper towels!) We ordered wakame, grow wings, erad spicy, and spicy goat. We asked our server how big the rolls were and she was really accurate and helpful. We are both tall, young, active people and we were stuffed off this order! So the rolls are expensive, but you get a lot of food. We got a couple of beers, they had a great cocktail, beer, wine, and sake menu. Our total bill was $53 and we were both stuffed. Honestly for good sushi in Montana, that's a screaming deal. When we went to Blue Samurai it was $80, and that was without drinks. The grow wings was super light and flavorful, the snap peas are genius. The erad spicy is very spicy but such a fantastic flavor combo - love the cashews and ika. The spicy goat small roll was an absolute experience- really loved it, so unique. Light but creamy at the same time, totally surprising. The wakame was the best I've ever had. Fish quality was excellent. Our service was great. We wanted to try some nigiri, as that is I think a better mark of how a sushi place is than rolls. but the rolls looked so good that we just went with that this time. I can't wait to come back and try more. Best sushi we've had in the valley, bar none (have not tried Wasabi yet). So lucky we have this gem in our back yard! read more

Fraud beware: Twice in the last year Sake To Me has overcharged my card for tip. Both times, there was a 0 added to the tip so adding $70 to the tip instead of the $7 that I wrote on the credit card slip. If it happens once, absolutely I can understand that mistakes happen, but when it happens twice this makes me suspect that something nefarious is going on- especially when it was the same server both times. The first time it happened the manager dealt with it promptly and was very kind and apologetic. The second time I reached out to (new) manager Jamie and she was dismissive and aggressive in her response. If the owner wants to reach out to me, I would be happy to share screen shots of her texts to show you how your employees are representing your business. We went back to this place, with a 6:30pm reservation. We arrived around 6:25pm, checked in, and were told that the table they had reserved for us was not available yet. We waited outside for 5 minutes, then an employee came out and told us that the people who were at our reserved table before us ordered more rolls. Okay, we waited 5 more minutes, then peeked through the windows were there were TWO open tables for two. We waited some more, then husband asked about those two open tables. Employee said they don't "shift around reservations" regarding where reservations are seated. After continuing to wait, we were brought in and sat at one of the tables that was open the entire 45 minute wait. Long story short - we arrived 5 minutes early to our reservation, waited 45 minutes for "our table", when there were other tables available, ended up being sat at one of the tables that were open the entire time we waited anyway. Came here with my mother, who is not a big sushi eater, so I tried to keep our order simple, which was a little difficult here. They have some wonderful, innovative rolls, but it would be nice to see some more basics mixed in. The restaurant is beautiful, with some really unique art. That's is a dimensional mural of water and what appears to be local fish. We found it very charming. The restroom was also very impressive and aesthetically pleasing. The server was friendly and helpful. We went with a Drago's Breath, Abba Zabba and Shrimp Crunch. The Drago's Breath was interesting. I've never had strawberry on sushi before. My favorite was the Abba Zabba, which is similar to a typical salmon skin roll but with kiwi, which I felt compliments it nicely. Mom's favorite was the Shrimp Crunch, which was fairly basic but very good, though in my opinion could have done such less soy sauce. A great place for sushi in Montana, which is a treat. This was my favorite restaurant in Bigfork but I will not come back here anymore. I was here today because I was craving for sushi. Normally I would've been okay to sit at the bar and order some small plates, but with the whole social distancing thing, I wasn't very comfortable sitting in a bar where I might end up sitting next to someone. The last time I was here, my friend and i opted to sit outside in the front terrace to have some drinks because we were terrified at how social distancing didn't seem to be the new norm in this establishment. I was petrified then. Still, today, I wanted to give it another chance and see if they had at least put some new rules in place given that the numbers are spiking in MT. The hostess and female manager at the door were simply annoyed as soon as I walked in. I don't know why, but it was like my presence there was an inconvenience. I felt very unwelcomed. Seeing that only one table was occupied in the whole restaurant, I asked if I could get a table instead of my usual place in the bar. They both simultaneously said "No, we are fully booked. You can sit in the bar if you want." I had to take a pause, and it seemed that they were annoyed and impatient that I had to think about it. "Well, what do you want to do?" I said that I had to think about it because of the whole social distancing thing, and asked if they could give me time to think about it. The manager rolled her eyes and looked away. Wow. Its as if it was out of place for me to even consider my risk with Covid. I looked at the female manager whose mask was hanging loose, it barely even covered her nose. I couldn't believe these were the kind of people Saketumi would hire to greet people at the door. I just turned around and left, feeling heavily disappointed and angry. I understand that they were booked, but there was a nicer way to let customers know, like a simple and genuine "So sorry, but we are booked for today." I wish I could give a negative rating, because of their nasty and unkind manner, I will never come back to this place again. As I drove away, I decided to call the establishment to see if I could talk to someone higher up. I was simply directed to the same manager at the door, and when I expressed my disappointment, she retorted in an angry way "you're disappointed because we are booked? Next time, make a reservation." She totally missed the point that I was disappointed because of her attitude, and that is the reason this (used to be favorite) restaurant is now in my No-list. read more

Went in to grab some sushi with a small group. We were never greeted and rudely asked if we had a reservation. Asked if we needed one and they said yeah we fill up quick. So made the reservation for 5pm and showed up at 4:58. We could hear a server inside yelling "you got two minutes fuck you." Needless to say we will never be back. If i could give this place negative stars, I would. Long story short, while my family and I were there last night, we watched a waitress TOUCH the food then LICK her fingers, then served the plate! We spoke to our nice waitress and let her know what was going on. She defended the waitress saying she's new and doesn't know better. I later called the manager. She told me she gets 5 calls a day from people claiming things like this but she knows lots of people are looking to get free stuff with the COVID going on.... she "asked the kitchen staff and they denied seeing her do this. So, it's my word against theirs." She also refused to give me the money back for the food we didn't eat since we saw the disgusting act. She did offer us a gift card for $15 less than what I paid. Reviews are raving about this place in Big Fork so my husband and I decided to give it a try. One sentence can explain this place; it is lacking the basic understanding of sushi, period. 1) I always order nigiri at any sushi restaurants to determine if the chef has basic understanding on sushi itself. Shari (rice), which is the most important part of sushi, was not done correctly and it tasted as if they didn't do anything to prepare it. 2) They go overly aggressive on katsuobishi flavor on Cherry Bombs and Akami Tataki which is a rookie mistake. I simply couldn't taste the flavor of fish due to this issue. 3) Tataki should be seared, not tempura fried.. 4) Out of three nigiri orders I made, two were not available (Ankimo and foie Gras). If you don't carry them, please don't indicate on the menu. 5) Server said they still have a bit of foie gras left to make Big Ol' Bear. When we received, we couldn't find any foie gras nor taste it. 6) Turn time was ridiculous. There was only one other table besides us but it took more than 10 minutes to get the next item. (Don't get me wrong. We placed the entire order in the beginning) If you are somebody who knows your sushi, I wouldn't recommend this place despite what other reviews say. Sushi was so good! I had the BigFork Bomb from the speciality rolls and I never want to eat a different roll from now on. Their rolls are gigantic as well! They get to be a little pricey, but are well worth the amount of food and taste. The reason for the 3 stars is due to the service. Our waitress was constantly leaning on the bar waiting for the bartender to make her drinks (would stand there for 3-5 minutes) while other customers, including us, were waving at her for help when she gave a "one second" finger and went right back to staring at the bartender and leaning? My boyfriend and I have been to Saketome 3 times. The first time we went, it was for our first date, and we were seated at a small table next to the restroom. (My bf is 6'3" and could barely squeeze into the chair) As soon as we finished the server asked if we we're leaving because there were people waiting. (Rude) My bf still talks about that. The next time we were almost brought back to that same small table. So we asked for a different one. We were seated at another small table sandwiched in between people. Trying one more time...Last night, because I knew my bf had made a reservation for his birthday, I messaged the restaurant ahead of time and asked if we could have a nice table for this special occasion. I was told "I will see what I can do. Most of our bigger tables are reserved for 4 tops but I will check and see if I can make that work. We will do our best to get you at a table that fits you." However, when we arrived we were told they'd HAD a bigger table for us but gave it away to another group "who also had a reservation" And had prepared that - same small table by the bathroom! I told them that it was unacceptable, that we too had made a reservation and had taken the time to ask in advance for a different table. The hostess was somewhat apologetic but basically said that they reserve bigger tables for 4 or more. After standing by the door waiting for people to finish eating, we ended up at a small table in between people again. No mention was made about his birthday and no offer to make things right. The food was okay and our server was pleasant. But due to the lack of effort on the restaurant's part, it tainted our experience. There are other sushi restaurants in the valley besides Saketome. The one in Whitefish will even sprinkle sparkles on the table for someone's birthday! Saketome won't get our business again. read more

Food is first class but I had trouble finding place because the sign on building is way behind the street and small lettering! It is second floor next to the GARDEN BAR. Our waitress and general manager Genna was terrific and host Britney excellent and attentive also. The sushi at Saketome Sushi is always good. It's great to have this quality in a small town in Montana. The music is loud and the vibe is upbeat. For some this may be a big issue. It is hard to have a conversation with your friends. It's that loud! When we were ordering, our server was having difficulty hearing us. Started with a bottle of wine (ask for the "by the bottle" menu if you're not doing by the glass for more options) and sake. They have a Good variety of options alcohol-wise and a full bar. Apps-wise we had the edamame, Tuna poke and new style scallops. All delish but.the. scallops. Say it louder for the people In the back! Omg, amazing. Just get them. The albacore special was great and roll-wise, you can't go wrong with any of them. All so Creative and perfectly prepared. We drove from whitefish and felt the meal was totally worth the drive. We had drinks to start, ordered appetizers and took our time reading through the menu and asked the waitress questions. When enjoyed the sushi that we ordered one more roll. When the last roll arrived with another drink, we were told that we had 5 minutes to finish because our time at the table was up. The waitress said it's on the website when we made reservations. We made reservations in advance since we were on vacation along with many other restaurants so bad on us for not reading the fine print. Food was very good, service was very good my only concern is the lack of cleanliness. The tables are made of concrete which is porous and perfect breeding ground for bacteria. The tables were sticky which meant they were not cleaned properly.
