We tried to visit the mercantile but didn't have reservations so they sent us to the KM bar. Everything was tasty, nice decor, live music, it was great!

I had a longing for a good drink and desert. A friend told me that the old KM building bar had been remodeled and now had food and interesting cocktails. She didn't lie. While there was no desert, I ordered the poutine (Canadian desert? Maaaaybe) and the Jungle bird Cocktail. The jungle bird is so different and hard to describe maybe like a curried tropical Christmas? Anyway, it was very good and I've never had any thing like it. The poutine is made with duck fat, so already very decadent. Add gravy, cheese curds and bacon ends and it's beyond. A couple bites was all I had room for, so hopefully it makes a good midnight snack. I had it packaged to go just for that purpose.

Chx Caesar salad? If you can even call it that.

1 mezcal margarita ($17) + 1 chx Caesar "salad" ($22)= $39...?! I'm not sure what world we live in that a basic mezcal margarita is $17? Especially in Kalispell, MT...don't even get me started about the Caesar. Came with a head of lettuce that I had to cut with a fork and steak knife? I'm not sure if this was meant to look more aesthetically pleasing or what. But after I disassembled it there was about 1 cup of lettuce, maybe a teaspoon of crouton "crumbs", and an even less amount of parmesan. I used to love this place but inevitably must add it to the ever-growing "overpriced and underwhelming" list of Flathead Valley restaurants I'll never return to.

Best mushroom toast I've ever had!!

Best pizza in town and the employees were all friendly. Even the old man (my husband) had a good time and liked the food.

It boasts of barbecue style sandwiches and menu and this place was packed on a Friday at 3pm! Hosts looked like are the owners of the place made every effort to go above and beyond to seat the guests and look after them. They have the bar seating facing the kitchen where we occupied the last 2 seats remaining in the restaurant getting the live action right in front of us. We ordered the PBJ (pork belly jelly bites) and brisket cheese steak sandwich with jalapeno mac n cheese on the side. Both the dishes were amazing and we will surely stop by here again when in the area. The whole sassy sandwiches section look like a must try. Only thing we will try to avoid here is the desserts that were not bad at all but because we saw them being made in front of us now we know it is just assembled we may not order more of that. We got the huckleberry peach cobbler and banana pudding. Both the dishes aren't really made from scratch and had we not seen how they're assembled we may not judge it too harshly.

I think she needs more training in service. The owners were very nice and exemplified what I think service should be. The bacon mac was not good and rather flavorless. Mac & cheese is one of the benchmarks of a good BBQ place. Collard greens I think had BBQ sauce? making them very tangy and not good at all, almost inedibly sour for me. They tasted better the next day mixed with other things. Elk sausage came smothered in more BBQ sauce and mustard. I wish these were on the side so that I could control how much sauce was on there. Cornbread seemed good but if I really looked at it, the cornbread was rather bland and the server instructed us to put honey on it. Well anything is good when you pour honey & butter over it. Loved the decor. I think because they're so busy, it became quantity over quality, unfortunately.

The buffet was well stocked, with a nice variety of chicken, shrimp, and vegetarian dishes, along with salad, naan, rice and desserts. Overall, the flavors were enjoyable and well-seasoned. The only downside was that the chicken was a bit dry, though still flavorful. One nice touch is that beverages are included with the buffet. We ordered a mango lassi and masala chai, and both were absolutely delicious --definitely highlights of the meal. The dessert selection included carrot pudding and ras gulla (pillowy, spongy balls soaked in syrup), fruit salad and 2 other unlabeled square bars. While they appeared authentic, they were a little too sweet for our taste or lack of flavor so we weren't as excited about that part of the buffet. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was comfortable. We also appreciated how the buffet was set up and maintained. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and we'd be interested in coming back to try some of their à la carte menu items next time.

I wondered how they stay in business. Walked to the self service computer monitor and placed my order. Placed my order but was NOT given the option to have a receipt (not even an emailed receipt). They did have a barcode to scan and track your order on your phone so I did that. It let me track my order but had no receipt option. So I had to go to the counter and ask for one. Order came out pretty quickly. This is what I ate: 1 - latte - this was the best thing I ordered and was pretty good. Right amount of froth and temperature was good. Quality espresso as well. 2 - Croissant bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. This was a pre-made breakfast sandwich that they heated in a microwave. Similar to what you would get at Starbucks. Nothing special, just ok. 3 - Cinnamon roll - I saw they advertised a "new recipe" for this and I enjoy a good cinnamon roll and gave it a try. This was the WORST thing I ordered. It was cold and tasted like something I would buy at a grocery store. Would never food ANYONE for being fresh or homemade. There are better options elsewhere!

Great idea, actually, and the first couple of bites, I thought, hey, this might be a winner. Then the aftertaste started. Then my wife asked how the steak was, and I realized I hadn't found any steak yet. Lo and behold, after digging through it, I found the steak was actually a tiny steak, well, I'll call them flakes. I knew that because of the color, not the texture, they were too small to determine texture. My wife and I discussed it after studying the tiny flecks for a while, and we had to assume that was my steak. No thanks, I tossed it and looked for something to get the taste out of my mouth. I guess I am just not a sophisticated eater.
