Got into a minor accident had my minivan towed out the tow truck driver was a woman and was very nice but when I went the next day to pick up my minivan a Honda odyssey the worker said it was not my car and it was a woman's car i gave my id got the key and he would not give me my id back I asked how much it was to get the car out he would not give my that information I had my husband go in because I was very upset and the worker said some very racial things and was absurdly rude the worker even called the cops on my husband, what a waste of time for are cops to go out to I wanted a different tow company to tow it to the best auto repair shop in town one stop to have it checked out since the worker said it wasn't drivable but he said I could not have another company come on their lot! Horrible customer service - lazy and rude workers. I live at an apartment and have a parking lot partnered with Sakstrup's Towing. The lot is always full beyond capacity because there are non-licensed cars parked in the lot since people don't know better than to park in a private parking lot. However, Sakstrup's Towing is the real nightmare here. Every time I call and make a request for a tow truck to come by and tow the non-licensed cars, they tell me that they are backed up and will have drivers on their way shortly. BUT they never come, even hours later. It's truly a painful experience working with Sakstrup's Towing to the extent that I avoid taking my car out of the lot because who knows when they'll tow the illegally parked cars in the full lot. 0/10 and would not recommend. read more

Well, it was inevitable, probably. I finally locked my keys in my car. There was a time a few years back when I did it at least once a month. I suppose I was due to do it again. We had just arrived at Briarwood Mall and I changed my mind about wearing my jacket and threw it back into the car. With the keys in the pocket. Whoops. I called AAA, and they sent Sakstrup's Towing out. The driver was able to find me without knowing exactly what lot I was in, just what store I was outside of. He tried for a while to get the car opened, then admitted defeat and called another driver. The second driver had the door opened in less than a minute. Yay! All told, it was less than an hour after my initial call before I was on my way. If you ever lock your keys in your car in Ann Arbor, I'd recommend Sakstrup's for getting you and your keys reconnected. read more

Tow truck driver pulled some shady stuff on me and told me she would bring it wherever I asked after another person failed to yield and demobilized my truck. Then after i asked her to bring it to the collision shop right down the road she decided to bring it back to their companies tow yard. My sister and I visited a friend in Ann Arbor this past weekend and after realizing the next morning that my sister left her purse at the friend's apartment, we went to go pick it up. We parked outside her building, went in to get the purse, asked for food recommendations, and came out to find a Sakstrup's Towing truck behind my car and the driver, Larry, standing outside it. When I asked him what was going on he was rude, snarky, and said he was towing my car because I shouldn't be parked there. I tried to explain that I was from out of town and didn't know there were any parking policies. He was blatant that he didn't care and said I owed him $50 for a hook drop (at this point he had done no labor and was already patrolling the area as per his job duties). I asked if I could go speak to the leasing office (to see if there were any leniency policies in place or at the very least negotiate a payment plan between the two of us) and Larry scoffs and says, "no one's there but you can try," to which I reply, "oh I didn't know they were closed. Well if I go try to see if anyone's there, are you gonna tow me?" And he looks at me and says, "Yup." His indecency and outright rudeness was very offputting to begin with, but by this point I was getting pissed. There's absolutely no reason to be rude to a stranger and much less reason to be an asshole to someone who is about to give you money because "that's how you make a living". Having had a terrible experience with Larry, I debated calling the number on the truck to leave feedback about his interpersonal skills with customers. I initially tried to let it roll off my back, but realized that it's not right for someone to degrade you and treat you poorly but because they're either having a bad day or just don't know how to be courteous to others; in addition, feedback is what helps us grow as people and businesses are no exception. So the next day I call the number on the truck to leave a complaint about how poorly Larry had treated both me and my sister. The woman who answered the phone seemed hesitant to receive my complaint and, after putting me on hold, said she would forward my info to the managers, but only after insinuating that I was only complaining because I had to pay money. She proceeded to make an excuse for Larry by saying that he was "just a straight forward guy and probably only seemed like that because he felt like you were trying to get out of paying". As she spoke two things went through my head: 1, as a customer-facing representative of a highly interactive business, you should not be making excuses for employees; 2, it doesn't matter if Larry is the nicest guy you have ever known, his behavior was poor and in fact so bad that I felt the need to call and complain about him without bringing the money issue to the table. This behavior should not be tolerated by well-run and respectable businesses, so customers (even those with complaints) can provide feedback that will improve your business as a whole. It was a poor experience with Larry, and I felt annoyed after my phone call with the representative because she made an excuse for ill treatment. Too long don't read: dial every number but theirs for help. I'd call a family member 800 miles away before I ever succumbed to the thought of dealing with Larry, or this business, in any capacity ever again. read more

The driver was rude, laughing at my concern for my vehicle and then told me since he got it going, despite the electrical problems it had been having, it didn't need towing, rather I should just drive it to the repair shop. Having had prior electrical problems, I didn't wish to risk it and when I requested he tow the car he rolled his eyes and acted like I was putting him out. AAA called this towing company for me. Then some girl called back to tell me they would only tow it if billed to my insurance- not AAA. When I explained I may not be filing a claim she got quite rude and ended the call with, "whatever." After a call back to AAA they got Brewers to tow for me instead- after several hours of waiting for Brewers I found they too refused- because they are owned by the same people! If I could give Sakstrup's 0 stars I would. This morning I was towed from my own spot after getting back from the airport at 2:30am. I had gotten caught with delay over delay so it slipped my mind to put my pass in my window as I was coming home. My information is on file with my apartment complex and I still got towed because of "lack of a pass". Had a car involved in an accident (lady turned right in front of my fiancee). Of course, because of their contract with the police, they came and got the car from the scene. Before the accident, the car was only worth about $5000, so I only kept state minimum coverage on it. The car is a total loss and is unable to be driven. I was there that day to get the belongings from our car, but kept ownership of it so I could document everything to file a mini tort claim with the other drivers insurance. Because of waiting to hear back from the other insurance, taking my fiancee to work, finding and buying her a new car, as well as working myself, I was unable to get back to Sakstrup's for 6 days to give them the title. I figure the scrap has to be worth at least $250. I call another scrap yard and they said if I brought the car to them, they'd give me $250 for it, so it has to be worth more than that to the business. So, now the bill for towing and storage is at $260. I ask if signing over the title will cancel that out. Was informed they only give $100 credit for the title. Ok...that's BS but whatever. Now, with the way things have gone due to this accident, of course we're a little strapped for cash (remember, I just bought her a new car). So now I ask if I can AT LEAST sign the title over and pay the bill this coming weekend (when I get paid). My thought behind this is that I will stop accruing storage fees. She informs me that they will not accept the title unless it is accompanied by the remaining balance owed ($160). Obviously, they are in business to make money. I totally understand that. But not accepting the title (so as to stop accruing storage fees) until the money is paid is pure crap. It's quite obvious that they have policies in place to take advantage of people for each and every dollar they can. I cannot put my disgust for this company and my frustration into words. I can guarantee that I will NEVER call your company for anything for the rest of my life. I can also guarantee that if I'm ever in an accident within your area of operation, that I will be calling a wrecker from another company before the police get there. I PROMISE that, if I have ANY control fo the situation, you will never get another dollar from me. I will not do business with a company that sets policies to take advantage of people who are in a rough spot. You disgust me. read more

If there was a 0 star, Sakstrups would get it. I called them, told them my car wasn't starting and that it was in a parking structure, and they said they'd have somebody out there in an hour. No big deal. An hour goes by and I get a call from the same, rude (that's another story) woman who told me they cant help me because it's in a parking structure. I get that most tow trucks cant fit but she couldn't have told me that after I wasted an hour of my time in the cold? Anywho, when it came to telling her the location, she was being very rude. I told her a pretty specific location and she said she needed an address which this parking structure does not have. All in all, Budget Towing was very helpful and took 2 extra minutes to simply push my car a few feet to get it rolling out of the structure and get my 5 star review for being so helpful. read more

I called back, and that is when she identified herself as Rachel (after I asked). You'll know her as the girl who talks like Marnie from Girls (assuming they only employ one). On Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 1:24 pm I received a call from a very rude dispatcher from Sakstrup towing in Ann Arbor Michigan. AAA called this company to come and tow my car due to a flat tire. The dispatcher asked if I had a spare tire and because I did not have one she told me I would have to wait an additional hour before she would send out a tow truck. I had already waited 50 minutes and had just received a call from AAA saying the company would be there in 7 minutes. Please tell AAA to NOT call Sakstrups if you need towing in the Ann Arbor area. She attempted to blame me for the additional wait by saying no one answered my cell phone which was not true, she had called me and was talking to me. Then she stated the driver could not find the address and had gone to the wrong address. Not my fault. Then she complained because I didn't have my voicemail set up on my cell phone. But she could not explain how AAA was able to call me. Save yourself the headache and have AAA call a different company. read more

Police did an inventory of the items in my car and it was noted that I did have my Bluetooth speaker in the middle console. Stay away from this shady company. I was recently in a serious accident and Sakstrup's towed my pickup two miles and is charging me $330 for the tow, and $20 a night while on their yard. So, additional $120 before a salvage company can haul it away. However, it cannot be hauled away, until paid in full. I called and the female on the phone was cold, rude and dismissive. I'll be honest...its hard to get a good rating from me when you tow my car. However, I've been towed three times in my life and the customer service that this business provided me when I tried to find and retrieve my car was by far the worst. Given the other reviews that also highlight this company's poor customer service, I'm realizing there has to be a better option for a tow company in Ann Arbor. I've used Fox's towing and Budget Stadium Towing in the past and had good experiences with both. While I understand that sometimes it's a busy day for the towing company, I was very disappointed in the way my request for a tow truck was handled. After calling and asking when was the soonest they could get to my car, I was told that they could send anyone to come tow the car until I was physically at the car. I told them that I was down the street and waiting inside (because frankly, it's winter, and waiting outside is simply ridiculous), but that I had class in an hour and would have someone else to stand in for me if they arrived while I was in class. She told me that they could be there within the hour. My question, then, is whether or not I was expected to stand by my car in the cold for an hour until the tow truck arrived. The woman repeatedly told me that she could not send anyone until I was physically at my car, and when I said I could literally be at the car in 3 minutes, she said "Well I know you're not at your car now because you just told me you weren't." This is not the way I prefer to be spoken to when I am in a bind. Added to the stress of having my car with a flat tire at the top of a parking structure and a time crunch that I was desperately trying to work around, the snide remarks from the receptionist (who I'm assuming is named Rachel based on Mike H.'s review written four minutes prior to mine) were enough to completely ruin my day. read more

I know it is hard to do when you have an emergency situation (like an accident,) but if at all possible I would avoid this company. Even if the police call them in, I would ask if they can call someone else. The employees are rude for one. In our case, the driver gave us false information about the company, leading us to believe that they salvage as well as tow and that the manager would be open to waiving storage fees under certain circumstances. So I gave permission to tow to their lot. The information given was incorrect and the manger would not even talk to me about it later. I am 50 miles away, trying to handle things from a distance. Basically I was told, "yes, our driver told you the wrong information and things that aren't true. But, we are not going to even talk to you about it let alone do anything about." My husband called AAA today for his broken down car to be towed from Briarwood Mall to the mechanic in Dearborn. Our mechanic suggested to use a flatbed due to the nature of the problem and the fact that the car was AWD. We were initially told it could take up to 90 minutes to get to us. The dispatcher Alice did call us and asked why we needed a flatbed and we told her it was AWD and there was an issue with the suspension. Alice then told us it did not need a flatbed and she would not be sending one. So we figured we will wait for the driver and let him see since there was just no speaking with Alice. 3 hours later we called back to Sakstrups again to find out how much longer it would be. To our surprise we found that not only are they still not on the way , but the call had not even been on the list to be dispatched!! Again Alice tells us it does not need a flatbed and had no intention of sending us one. All we wanted to do was get home at this point. Long story short we finally got out flatbed 4 hours later. Our driver was great, but Alice should be squashed under whatever rock she crawled out from. We would not recommend using this company for any reason if you can. I went to this towing building to pick up my boyfriend's car that had been towed there earlier that day. Upon arriving, I received extremely rude service from the start by the woman behind the counter. She was young and had medium lengthed, straight, brown hair. Understandably, I had questions about why the car was towed because there were many other cars parked in the same area, but she cut me off while I was talking and walked away. To get my boyfriend's attention later, she rudely yelled, "What's your name? The boy. HELLO???" from her spot far away at the computer. Then, when she told me to go get the insurance and registration from the vehicle, she reiterated about three times that I was ONLY to get the insurance and registration from the car and that I could not drive it away- almost accusing that I looked like the type of person to drive the car away without paying. Furthermore, when I came back inside and got the bill, there were three separate charges on it. Naturally, I was curious as to what the charges were for, so I was looking at the chart placed in your lobby that lists all of the different charges. She then told me that I was in the way of the people trying to get into the building when there was no one trying to get in, and only two other people in the lobby with me. I told her I was not in the way of anyone- at which point she threatened to call the police if I did not "get out of her lobby." At that point I agreed to leave. I needed to have my car towed to a local auto repair shop to have my brakes fixed and they referred me to Sakstrup's. I called them and a woman answered, gave her my information, location, etc. and the woman (who was not very friendly) said they would be there within half an hour. I waiting patiently for 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and finally after an hour I called back to see if they could give me an estimate of when they would be there. The woman on the phone proceeded to tell me that I must not have called them because I wasn't on the list. I tried to explain as politely as possible that yes, I did call them and that she was the person who I originally spoke with. Instead of just apologizing and asking me for my information again, she proceeded to argue with me for five minutes about how it was all my fault and that I was clearly mistaken because I had never called them. The only reason I didn't hang up right then and there was because I was in desperate need of a tow truck and didn't know who else to call. Finally, after giving her my information all over again, the tow truck showed up an hour later. The guy who came was polite enough, but I will never call them again based on the experience I had with the woman who answered the phone.
