My best friend from Georgia came here to see me and we went to Sakura for the buffet and crab legs. The sign said "$18.99 per lb. Buy 2lbs 1lb 50% off. We got there at around 12:30. We asked if the sign meant that if we bought 2lbs, one pound would be half off. He very rudely and condescending said, "you buy 2lbs, one $18.99 the other pound $18.99 then buy another one for $18.99 and then 1lb is half off." WOW, NOT what the sign said at all!. My friend saw him roll his eyes at me. I guess he said something to the waitress because she was a bit short with us at first but warmed up to us eventually. The 1lb of crab legs that we bought and shared was over boiled. The claws only had a small amount of meat in half of the claw. Also, several of the long thin pieces had meat only in half of it and a foamy white substance. I looked it up and it said over boiled. The man up front was seriously rude. The food is always fresh when we eat around noon. Staff is friendly and everyone is always cleaning. I've even watched them clean walls, windows, floors ect. If you ate there before and left, you should definitely give them another try! read more

Sat for dinner, table was cramped very few tables seated so we took two and sat our boys. Waitress gave attitude, paid the bill with intention to leave a cash tip. Waitress opens the bill back up and pushes it back in the table with attitude and then proceeds to stair at us until we don't want to be there. I usually walk out of a Chinese buffet feeling guilty but not this time. I managed to make very good choices, I didn't overstuff myself and had a mostly healthy dinner. Sakura is located in the mall which means if you're waiting to get in, you're at least in the air conditioning. That said, it's pretty large and they have lots of dinner options here. The meat and veggies options were not covered in sauces and there was a baked seafood that I liked. A big plate of sushi went back to the table with me and it was tasty. Nothing very creative or special but it was good. Service was as warm as it can be at a buffet. The young lady cleared my dirty plates and topped off my water often. Have been here a few times and plan to go a lot more in the future. We love this place! The variety of food is incredible and the flavor is never lacking. Overall pretty good. The ONLY General Tso Chicken I've ever had that was actually spicy. Honestly some of the most flavorful Asian buffet food I've had. My family had the raw oysters, clam, sushi, etc and our gastrointestinal foundation was completely unshaken. I'm A Is regular at Sukura. Food is always hot And there's always a large variety of food to sample. The coconut shrimp by far is my favorite but they have so many things to offer that too many for me to name. Very polite service and no wait seating. A wide variety of Chinese as well as Japanese food. There was also some roast beef but it wasn't sliced. I only mention it in passing as I don't go for it. The miso soup was pretty bland and I couldn't taste any white miso even though it appeared to be there but the seaweed was nice. There was also some seaweed salad that I enjoyed as well as the mussels. Peel and eat shrimp as well as red crayfish. Sushi was okay for a buffet. Didn't try the crab legs. Lol for a Chinese buffet in this town it's okay. I've had better. Backstory: Sakura Buffet replaced Guang Dong in the Lake City Mall. My childhood revolved around Guang Dong and I've come to know their buffet very well. Since they changed owners, I've seen two changes: the interior and a greater variety of foods to the buffet such as different ice cream flavors as well as sushi and fruits. They also took away some items on the menu such as the sweet and sour chicken and the General Tso's chicken. The main reason I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars is the freshness of food. I know it's a Chinese restaurant but most of the food I tasted were stale, like it was sitting out in the heating lamp for too long kind of stale. The sushi is not fresh whatsoever. I had the sushi with the shrimp tempura and it tasted stale since the roll was sitting out there for so long. The buffet is also confusing because not only does Sakura offer Chinese food but Italian food and American food. I was a bit taken back that there were not as many Chinese recipes but I think it is due to demographic. One of the hidden gems is the crawfish! Not only is it steal for the price you pay but the Cajun seasoning is on point! Also don't be afraid to try the green tea ice cream (it's green lol). It's not that sweet and the flavor is very good The service is actually pretty good. My mother wanted her roast beef to be cooked a little more and our waitress was more than happy to oblige! They clear your table as you get more plates of food very quickly (TIP: put your empty dishes at the edge of the table so they know to pick it up) The price is pretty good ($10.99 for dinner) but overall I'm disappointed in Sakura due to the fact that they switched owners and nothing seems to have changed foodwise. read more

We have just moved to Lake City and went to Sakura buffet last night. We love good Chinese buffets but the food was awful. The business is located inside a mall, first clue. I went in and looked at the buffet. It looked nice and had a good selection. It was very clean, that's why the 2 stars. We got our first plate and were so disappointed. The crab Rangoon was basically a wonton skin folded in the sad triangle shape without much filling. The Teriyaki chicken skewers were hard as rocks. All the shrimp offerings had no taste and all the food was very bland. One of my favorites is the crab salad which was hot and had a flavor but was so greasy I felt like I'd put oil on my lips. Sushi was just OK. We tried a lot of different things and were totally disappointed. Stay away from the banana pudding. We were never offered refills of our drinks, mine was water. Lots of employees but not good service. I used the restroom which was clean with an overpowering smell of bleach that hung on my clothes for quite a while. There was a large puddle of water in front of the commode and I had no choice but to walk through it. We will drive to Live Oak from now on and will never go back to Sakura. read more

First time to eat here and glad that there is really a chinese buffet food in our town! A lot of choices with clean and big area. For my husband who is health conscious, he think almost everything was too oily and if he rate out of 10 dishes he tried, only 3 is good that he might eat again when we comeback here. But for me who grew up in asia, i think these are usual fried foods. I love the fried rice and dumplings. So for me, out of 10 dishes i tried i think 5 is good that i wanted to eat again next time. Though we both admit that price is pretty good for a lot of choices, shame that we don't eat that much. So i think if you are in hurry, hungry, wanted to discover different chinese dish then this is really a good place, but if you wanted to eat comfortably at home, willing to wait for your order to be cooked, and you crave only a particular chinese dish that you wanted, plus you can keep any left over and eat again later when you temporarily full, then i suggest take out at China Wok is better. Oh by the way, i hope the owner/manager of these restaurant inform/orient their server/staff about the coupon that they published and distribute so that they won't make customer feel embarrassed by presenting coupon to them and please also tell them to treat every customer with same friendly attitude... read more

Let's just say that tonight, I lost about 5 lbs after eating lunch here today. I should of know when the food was lukewarm I was gonna be sick. I have to say the selection and quantity was good but the food isn't being kept up to temperature, both cold and hot. This is not good for tummies. Great buffet! I am vegetarian and can only speak for those options, but everything tasted wonderful. Lo Mein, mixed vegetables w/ tofu, and mushrooms were all terrific. Better than most Chinese takeout I have had. Lots of dessert options as well. Definitely one of the best vegetarian options in the entire area, where everything tends to be steakhouse-heavy. If you like seafood there is tons to pick from (my fish-eating friend was very impressed). And lots of sushi as well. Location is right inside the mall entrance so very easy to get in and out. I have been here several times and the service is always as good as you can expect with the language barrier. But I have noticed the food quality suffering as of late. Then tonight I come in at 8pm. They close at 9pm. I look at the buffet and is is nearly empty, most food looking dry like it has been there for a while. I go to the sushi bar and it is empty except for one pan with a small amount of various pieces on it. All visibly old and dry. I ask the waitress if they could make any new sushi and she says yes. I go back to the sushi bar and the "chef " comes out. He is obviously angry. He tells me there is plenty out, and they are closed anyway. I show him that all of it was dry, with pieces of salmon and tuna changing to a dark color on the edges. He tells me " it's fresh" and it doesn't matter, we are closed anyway. When I ask why they are still seating people, he says " sushi bar closes earlier than rest of bar". I say ok, and that's all he had to say but maybe he should put up a sign of something. He then continued asking if I want sushi just eat what he has out. I never go to a restaurant near closing time because I know what it's like as a chef to have a 6 or 8 top come in 10min till closing. But an hour? This guy's attitude was bullshit. A co-worker and I had lunch here yesterday. Again the service was great, the food was awesome. This restaurant is very clean and the food choices will satisfy anyone's palette. The management and servers are very attentive but do not speak much English. The servers may not seem friendly but it's just because they're timid and shy with the language barrier. They will go out of their way to please you. If you don't want Buffet they have menu items and a hibachi Grill. If you want to take your food to go they sell it by the pound from the buffet or you may order from the menu. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Was enjoying a nice lunch when we noticed a cockroach running up and down an open chair at our table. Not a problem at first. I tried to get the managers attention, although she made eye contact with me, she looked away. We start to walk over the the register to pay & mention it to the cashier, as we passed the manager, I told her about the bug. She kept walking. As we were paying we told the cashier, she smiled. When the manager came over, the cashier said something to the manager in their language. They looked over at our table as they were laughing & did NOTHING about it. No attempt to remove it, NOTHING. I went in the restaurant me and my family had dinner. I had raw oysters it was December 1 . Friday night. I didn't get sick or started to feel bad until Saturday Dec 2 and spent the next days throwing up I was then admitted to the hospital because I was running fever I was dehydrated severely. And there I stayed for the next week with needles poked in and out of me. I will NEVER eat here again. Because of the severe Salmonella Poisoning. They oh me big time . Food was ok. We went about 2:00 ND I took my 4 year old to the bathroom and while we were in there, they added dinner items to the bar. I had no idea they had done that and so, when I came out, I got another plate of food. The waitress almost gad a stroke and reached over me to take the food right from in front of me. It was a special occasion and I was paying for a large party of family. She started going on and on about how that was for dinner only and I paid for the lunch buffet. She even went and got her manager and she had much the same reaction. It was incredibly embarrassing and I refused to eat the last plate of food and we left vowing to never return. This was my first experience eating at this establishment, with my first and only plate I ate 5 pieces of sushi and within 10 mins I went to the restroom and couldn't even make it to the toilet before I became ill, I went to the manager to inform him of what had happened and to apologize. 10 minutes later, after not eating anything else I went back to the manager to ask if I still had to pay my bill even though I had only eaten 5 pieces of sushi and was almost immediately sick. He told me that maybe I had previously been ill before coming into the establishment and was trying to get put of the bill. I had never felt more embarrassed considering that I had just been sick all over the bathroom and myself and after about 15 mins of us discussing the matter he rudely commented that he will get me out of this bill but would remember me and if I ever tried to pull this "stunt" again i would be fully charged. I will never return to this establishment and definitely will not recommend it to anyone. Additionally I have recently went to the hospital and discovered I have food poisoning. In a few words I would describe this establishment as unreasonable, inappropriate, and uncaring for their customers. read more
