I always hate to leave a negative review, but Lake City seems to be struggling with quality food. We ordered two meals: Happy Family and Crazy Tuna Roll. Both were terrible. The tuna felt room temperature and was pretty bad in taste. The Happy Family was not so happy. It was overcooked and had thick brown gravy. It was totally disgusting. During our meal, one waitress was mocking her $10 per hour wage while walking around with a feather duster on a pole, dusting the ceiling cameras and the HVAC vents. The dust was flying everywhere. What really was gross was when she walked over to the sushi bar with the feather duster over food, which was on a tray under her. Unfortunately, there was a man sitting at the counter 4 feet away from her. I could see the dirt landing on his food. Within 5 minutes, I left. Low standards if this is your restaurant. By the way, it's March 23, 2026. You might want to remove any references to Merry Christmas. read more

So far l've dined in a few times and ordered takeout on multiple occasions. Each time the food was fresh and flavorful. The portions are generous as well! I've tried a few dishes, and my favorites have been the shrimp tempura roll (#1 favorite), the crunchy LA roll, dynamite roll, the tuna avocado roll, the tom kha gai soup, the avocado roll, and the avocado salad. Hospitality was great. I was a solo diner a few times I dined in, and the severs weren't weird because I was alone. I've also dined in with a friend. They were attentive and friendly on both occasions. Takeout service is good as well. I usually call in my order and it's ready when I arrive. Prices are reasonable on the maki rolls and the few Thai dishes that I've tried. Btw, they have Japanese, Thai, and Chinese entrées to choose from. So I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the mood for any of the above, though I've only tried a few of the Thai and Japanese menu items. read more

Lake city is such a small town but its nice when you get to have little gems like red ginger. We always have a wonderful meal for lunch or dinner. I've tried many different items but our favorites has to be the sushi and the House Fried Rice. They have a wide variety of rolls that i get to try a new one every visit. They have so many combinations. This place is unique because they have more than just Japanese and Chinese food they also have Thai food. The pad Thai and the basil fried rice are good options. The food is awesome, the food has always been awesome, the atmosphere always awesome, until my wife and I went back to eat, and had to have a white waitress, that screwed up everything, the ambiance was gone was gone, we go to the Red Ginger specifically for the food and the ambiance, the white waitress's are not as friendly, not even close. Red Ginger is loosing, a lot of customers for this reason. The next time my wife and I go back to the Red Ginger and can't get a Chinese waitress, we will immediately leave, without question, WE will definitely be back but will refuse to be served by an American in a Chinese restaurant. We hadn't ordered from this restaurant in nearly to years because we aren't fond of their practices in the app: service/convenience fee, automatic tip ( can be adjusted), plus the have a tendency to leave something out of almost every order. The menu had a good selection of dishes and the prices were reasonable as well. Had the wonton soup, shrimp shumai, seaweed salad and the 3 roll lunch special. The shumai was probably the best item I had and the one issue I encountered was that the seaweed salad seemed like it might not have thawed out completely before being served as some parts were ice cold. We didn't expect much but she tried really, really hard to give a good service experience. She did a great job of that. The rest? Bland food, no vegetarian options for the wife (yup, Thai!), and some strange combinations. The atmosphere isn't bad - it's a reasonably comfortable dining area. I was passing through Lake City when traveling and decided to have sushi for dinner. Being pretty hungry I decided to try 3 rolls - Alligator roll, Spider roll and Dancing eel roll. I got it to go and with tip it Camelot to be about $40. Brought it back to the hotel and the first thing I noticed was the generous portions of eel, amazing! The Alligator and Spider roll both had soft shell crab on the inside but it wasn't much. I would prefer more crab in the center especially on the Alligator roll. I would have expected the Alligator roll (roll on right) to be a wider roll similar to the Spider roll (left). The spicy tuna which topped the Alligator roll tasted a bit bland. Anyways, it was a great meal, I was definitely full and it made me a happy customer! read more

First Timer My wife and I ordered takeout, put a pickup time of 7-7:15pm, and a got Thai entree, a couple sushi rolls and an appetizer jalapeño tempura. The restaurant was very busy, every table was full, when we arrived at 7:15. Food wasn't ready yet and I was told it was because they were steaming the broccoli... but none of our food had broccoli in it. The sushi was pretty average, rice wasn't soft or seasoned and the fish seemed mid grade. We waited until we got back to our hotel in Madison to eat the appetizer and Thai dish ... mistake on our past because the heat from the appetizer wilted the spring mix they put as a garnish on the bottom of the tray and made the tempura soggy. I've always enjoyed the food and service. I haven't been in a while and we decided on lunch there today. I was surprised to see they nickel and dime you these days. An extra dollar for .20 worth of cucumber, up charge for a little cream cheese... Essentially an up charge for everything and it's not a little up charge, it's ridiculous. Again, $1.50 for soy paper, $1 for cream cheese, cucumber, etc etc. I found it excessive and unnecessary. Our server told us in regard to the up charge of everything that the "owner will make us pay out of our pockets if he sees we didn't up charge for all of those things." It's a popular place and the food is good (not great) but I'm not one for being nickeled and dimed too death unnecessarily. It was only an additional $4.50 but I would have rather given that as a tip. To each their own! read more

We've eaten twice here since the last review. On a Friday I had shrimp tempura and my wife had a Chinese seafood combination. The seafood combo was excellent but I found the tempura to be overly greasy and the dipping sauce too vinegary. Added sugar to cut the acid. Monday we returned for our wedding anniversary and ordered two of the seafood combos plus a BBQ eel sushi which I enjoyed very much. The seafood combinations were tasty enough but the serving size was noticeably smaller than three days ago. It seems to me every other time we come here it's different. Tried fried ice cream for dessert. My wife liked it. Kind of short on the ice cream for me but ok. Casual dining but our waitress was a bit too casually dressed compared to the other wait staff though she was attentive enough and very pleasant. All things considered it's still the cheapest seafood dinner including lobster tail we've found within an hours drive time. Dinner was $56 and we left $70. read more

Celebrating my son-in-law's birthday, and this is favorite place to east. We had an array of appetizers and samplings of sushi and entrees. Everything was plated beautifully and tasted wonderful. And to end off our meals, fried cheesecake and tempura bananas! Our server (Om) was amazing! She was very patient with taking our orders, explaining some of the dishes, and consistently checking in with us. The restaurant was neat and clean and music and lighting at a comfortable level for good conversation. My wife and I went to Lake City on a whim. We picked the Red Ginger Asian Bistro randomly from the Yelp list of restaurants in Lake City. It was like hitting the lottery! The restaurant was beautifully adorned and the food was terrific. I had something called Dragon and Phoenix and it was two dishes on one plate. One was General Tao's chicken and the other one was shrimp and veggies in a lobster sauce. Both were delicious. My wife had the sesame chicken and she had the same report on her dish that I did.
