What a wonderful hole in the wall to find during a Vaca trip see you friend. Looking for some place to pop in and eat and we'd heard about this place that we thought we'd give it a shot. It's a typical little neighborhood Cafe with a breakfast buffet and menu ordering. I had the two-egg breakfast with bacon, toast with tater tots (out of hash browns). I requested eggs to be cooked over medium and they were absolutely perfect!!! I was thrilled because this is not a typically happens when I order this type of egg. That tater tots Tasted like they were cooked in fresh oil and the bacon was amazing. A friend ordered the same except with home fries and a hot cake. She was a little bummed at the home fries as they were just sliced & just not what she expected. Her eggs and bacon were also amazing and her hot cake was wonderful. Coffee was nice and strong with good flavor. I visited the restroom and although the building is obviously old it was very clean. Crystal was our server and she was warm and engaging. 10/10. If you want authentic southern cooking (greens, cornbread, fried chicken, etc), this is it. Real local spot with daily lunch buffet. When I went, it had two types of fried chicken, meatloaf, and a number of sides. Everything was REALLY good. I'm not a big fried chicken connoisseur. But, if I'm having it, this would be a contender for top recipe. If you are on a road trip or find yourself in Lake City, this unassuming little spot is worth a try. How to say it. Kountry Korner Restaurant is a buffet/Restaurant. That accounts for four stars with the food. The food. Tasted pretty good, not great, but pretty good. The gravy for the Biscuits and Gravy, just did not cut it for me, that is not to say it wasn't good, it just wasn't for me. I sampled everything else in the buffet and it was very good. I especially enjoyed the cheesy grits with bacon and eggs in it. The decor and atmosphere are down to earth, homey. The people who work there are extremely friendly and helpful. They ask your name and talk to you as a friend, not a customer. The prices are great. For the price you pay for the buffet, you get an excellent deal. I highly recommend this place. read more

It was welcoming environment for two girls who were clearly from out of town. Seems like the staff knew everyone in there by name. I went with 5 because the waitress did say they were getting new tables and chairs so that will give it an upgrade. Food/Drink 5/5 We thought we were going for breakfast but held out a 1/2 hour for the lunch turnover. On the waitress' recommendation we chose the buffet. At $14.99 it was AMAZING!!! Fried shrimp, peel and eat shrimp, chicken, Mac and cheese, white rice, collard greens, and broccoli that was NOT mushy. For dessert we had banana pudding and carrot cake. Of the item we did not get but also looked fresh and good (corn on the cob, yellow rice, Lima beans, pasta salad, corn bread, chicken gizzards and a variety of other dessert cakes. Unlimited sweet tea, coffee and lemon water was our beverages of choice. Service : 5/5 Very friendly staff, waitress was helpful and on the ball checking in us but not smothering. My family and I were on a road trip driving through Lake City Florida. We always look for good home cookin' and Kountry Korner did not disappoint. We all had different things on the menu but ALL agreed it was the best breakfast we'd had all trip. From the buttery biscuits, and hot cakes, to the omelet which was perfection and homemade fries...oh my god! I'm getting hungry just remembering. When we finished, my husband asked to compliment the chef for the wonderful food we had. We were amazed when our waitress and the cook came out and gifted us TWO slabs of smoked-to-perfection ribs. We couldn't believe our eyes. You don't experience kindness like this anywhere anymore. To tell you our dinner back home was also delicious is an understatement. For background my sister-in-law was a fancy azz pastry chef for years in Houston, so I am hella particular about cake texture, moistness, fluffiness and will turn my nose up in a minute at something attempting to pass as cake. BUT THIS HERE POUND CAKE...y'all... Pause...remove your hats...shhhhh... A moment of silence is due to give proper respect to this fried pound cake. The texture, the taste, the butter content, the slight crispness from the grill...swear I wondered if whoever made that pound cake was single and open to dating. It's buffet style and everything was delicious; perfectly seasoned and just damn delicious. I had two types of fried fish (apologies I wasn't paying attention when they told me what kind), potato salad (seasoned to absolute perfection - like you could legit just get a bowl of potato salad and be good), fried okra, Lima beans and cornbread. Lawd, the CORNBREAD!! I forgot about the cornbread!! The cornbread is light fluffy and, yet again, damn delicious. I had 3 pieces. Bull-ish you not, they could enter that cornbread into a cake contest and win by an indisputable landslide it was that savory with the perfect crumb texture. For you meat eaters, there was a nice selection to choose from - fried chicken, smoked chicken, BBQ ribs, fried fish (mullet, swai, etc). There were several vegetables and ALL of 'em sooo good. They have lunch buffet Mon-Fri with choice of 3 meats and 5 veggies, or order off the menu. Buffet was $14.95, menu items range from $7-14. Hubby had the buffet with fried chicken, mac-n-cheese, corn, okra-n-tomatoes and cornbread. Went back for seconds! I got liver-n-onions, mac-n-cheese and collard greens- all really good. The server was friendly, and it looked like locals were the main clientele. The only negative is the place needs updating- clean but obviously old and tired. Locally owned and run by a family. Northside of Historic downtown, just a couple of miles from I-10. I've been going there since they opened. The service is very nice and the restaurant is clean. They're know for their crab boils. But I really like the Fish sandwich, it's a fresh fried filet with two slices of bread and french fries.(the oil is clean and the food is crispy). To my surprise the had a little buffet. they had bacon, sausages-link and patty, corn beef hash, eggs, grits, French toast, sausage gravy, cheese, cinnamon rolls, biscuits, and hash browns. We were on a long road trip from Texas to South Carolina and needed a place to stop so we chose this place! It is considered a "hole in the wall" but is also a good secret place :) My husband had been dying for some crab so he got the fried crab and I got the shrimp and fish. The seasoning on the crab legs,potatoes and corn was fabulous! Simply delicious! The portion sizes are well priced. This place small but has a dining room available with a bathroom. This restaurant is a hidden gem that only the locals know about. It's a place where blue collar workers, businessmen, and judges come to eat. This place doesn't advertise, and it's hard to find parking unless you go early. It's a homey, hometown family-style restaurant with one big open dining room. There's a roll of paper towels standing on every table, no napkins...this is an "eating joint" for people who like to eat. There's a daily buffet breakfast and a buffet lunch with different main features every day. The food is inexpensive and it's always wonderful. Our favorite day is Thursday, for the fried pork chops and fried chicken (the fried chicken is in the buffet EVERY day, and the pork chops make it doubly sinful). The pork chops are thin-sliced, lightly coated with flour and/or a fine cornmeal flour ...and deep fried, southern style. OMG, they're just wonderful. The fried chicken should be given a prize for best in Florida; we've never had fried chicken as good as this anywhere. It's always beautifully fried, crispy on the outside, and so perfectly moist inside. There just isn't anything like their fried chicken anywhere. This is perfection in southern comfort food, nothing fancy, and the food is always consistent. We have never had a complaint. The owner is a delightful woman who may come by ns see how your'e doing if it's not too busy. Our glasses were constantly refilled with sweet tea and we felt well taken care-of. The accompaniments in the buffet also change every day and are typically southern soul food favorites....baked mac & cheese, fried okra, collard greens (excellent) creamed corn, rice, and many others. And in true southern tradition, there's always gravy. This is one of the best little spots on the planet.
