Delicious, fast, affordable, and a great selection to choose from! This is my go to sushi restaurant in town, especially for their lunch special! You can't beat three rolls for $12.99 and a drink. The staff is always friendly and polite when I go in. They have awesome yum yum sauce. No problems when I ask for modifications to rolls, tho there is a charge for extras but that isn't a problem. My go to order is the manhattan roll, tuna roll, and salmon katsu roll. I do ask for my tuna roll to have cucumber and avocado added to it with the rice on the outside and never have an issue with my request. However, this time I tried the Alaska roll (very delicious!) and I will incorporate it into my sushi rotation! They have a good California roll if you're in need of something basic. Their noodle plates are large portions. Enough for two or three meals. The fried rice is just fried rice no veggies in it, and is perfect for those who just want some basic fried rice. I've only ever ordered to go, but the inside is clean and comfortable. I see people dining here from time to time. Overall it's a great sushi place that I'll gladly keep coming back to! read more

This restaurant is so picky about confirming orders and minimum orders, but they don't even make sure customers get what they order. I ordered multiple items, including shrimp tempura. Instead of shrimp tempura, I'm not sure what I got (the end pieces with my rainbow roll). On the website, the shrimp tempura looks entirely different from what I got. The entire roll is fried in the tempura batter, not just a piece of shrimp that is cut up, fried, and then rolled in with the other ingredients. When I placed my order for this location I was thoroughly disappointed. I was on a road trip and ordered food from this location based on reviews and photos that I thought was accurate, I was clearly wrong. The food was awful! The chicken for starters was EXTREMELY chewy and the texture made me very uncomfortable to eat. The food was very salty and it immediately started to make my stomach hurt, to the point I stopped eating it after 3-4 bites. I have never tasted food this bad in my 7 years in Florida. We tried the hibachi a few years ago and we weren't impressed. But I recently went in to try their sushi after a friend recommended it and it was not only cheaper then the other sushi place in Lake City, but I thought it was also better. So far I have tried the spicy tuna roll, spider roll, and the Atlantic roll. I also tried the avocado salad which is packed with avocado and cucumbers with a tasty light sauce you pour over the top. All times I've been impressed with it. I also decided to try the hibachi again and we loved it! It wasn't too sweet like a lot of teriyaki sauces, and mixed with the other sauce they gave us it was SO good! We don't do any veggies, so I will get fried rice and noodles and I enjoy both. The place was clean when we went in to eat for lunch one day. We drank bottled drinks, so I can't comment on the fountain drink machine they have. Since they cook on that open stove top it makes my clothes smell a little bit once I leave, but it's not too overwhelming. We will be trying different rolls next time for sure. Tip: we had actually tried their "sushi dinner" last year and weren't impressed, the rolls were tiny and cut into tiny bites to give you the advertised 48 pieces. Wasabi reminds me of one of those flowing weeds growing from a crack in a sidewalk. This place was clearly opened on a shoestring budget. The exterior is clean and crisp like the rest of the strip mall featuring a Publix Market. The interior is another story, and my initial impression was that this was not a place where I would feel safe eating raw fish. If it had not been for my husband pushing from behind by saying, "yeah, but if you get really sick, it will make for a fun to read Yelp review!" As sketchy as the place seemed on the inside, the sushi came out well. The temperature, flavor and freshness all seemed fine, and we did not get sick. Sorry. The people were nice, and it was fun and interesting sitting in the window and watching unlikely sushi eaters arrive, pick up, and carry out their orders. What did they order? Where did they come from? Where are they going eat? How did they come to be eating Asian food in a strip mall in Lake City, Florida? What do people do in Lake City? Why are they here? The answers to these questions are not obvious, right? So I recommend you try Wasabi in Lake City. The selection, quality, and deliciousness is head and shoulders better than picking up Sushi next door at Publix, and I think the price point is actually a little better than Publix as well. The only miss step is that Wasabi does not serve sake. Publix on the other hand does have sake in large resalable bottles. Fortunately, my husband and I carry one of those bottles around with us in our rolling bar that we call my car. We are responsible adults prepared for misfortunes like a sushi restaurant without a liquor license. Perhaps if they served sake, there would have been other diners eating and fewer diners taking their food on the road. I used to love coming to this place years and years ago, but now it's absolutely horrible. I got the chicken and shrimp hibachi and let me tell you it was a mushy mess with old shrimp that was badly coated just frozen crap. I threw it out I don't even want a refund. They have downgraded their quality, lost a good chef, or something bad happened, but yeah I will never be back! This should serve as a lesson to step up quality and make sure that customers come first rather than serving them garbage. read more

I come by every few months, and I'm never disappointed. The table legs are a bit questionable, like they were bought from a flood sale, but that doesn't change the fact that the food is awesome. I'd give it 5 stars, but even though the food is good it's still just Japanese fast food, and it's a bit pricey for all that. Cheap sushi and cooked Japanese dishes in a fairly-pleasent atmosphere but the sushi really didn't measure up--even for the price. My shrimp tempura roll (like a Mexican roll, but they don't call it that here) tasted like they'd used pre-breaded, non-katsu, frozen shrimp and the raw fish rolls--while ok--seemed slight on the fish. I guess you get what you pay for in Lake City. It's not awful and the fish seemed fresh enough but it wasn't very good, either, and they don't have that diverse a menu. I didn't expect great sushi in Lake City but I expected a bit better than this . . . next time, I will hit the country buffet or something else I know is done right. read more

The service staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean. The ordering process is a bit different for a sushi establishment in that you order at the counter and they'll either bring it to you or call you up when your order is ready. The flavors are tasty but the fried rolls tend to be a bit on the greasy side (check the fryer temp please). This is going to be very simple. Its dirty, the guy at the register cant understand me. I dont mean to be racist or sound like that guy, but if you cant speak the common language around dont work the register. The guy gave me a blank expression when ordering. And we ordered a steak and a chicken plate. We got chicken but shrimp and steak instead if just steak. My girlfriend is allergic to shell fish. I took it back and asked for a plate of just steak and it was very obvious with how fast we got the second plate compared to the first they just scraped the shrimp off and I strictly said she is highly allergic and will die if it touches her and all he said was "Okay?"
