Pick 2 Hawaiian BBQ with Chicken Katsu and BBQ Beef and Fried rice. I just love Hawaiian food! The crunch of the Katsu and the flavor of the grilled onions in the BBQ beef just make me smile. The pairing of creamy macaroni salad I could never understand, but I love it lol. I even ate the bed of raw cabbage under the meat. I didn't look at my original review of this place but I'm confident it was probably close to the one I'm writing. Located in reynoldsburg near the I-270 entrance and can be easy to miss if you never venture into the strip mall. This is a more of a self service restaurant where you pick up your food at the counter and also station for you to dispose your utensils and plates. They sell alot of food options like ramen and sushi but I opt for the hawaii bbq as it sounds interesting. The pick any 2/3 meat option is a nice way to try a variety at once and thats what I got- bbq chicken, short rib and grilled shrimp. The meat is tender and flavorful. I would love more vegetables thou and it came with macaroni salad which could be the hawaii part and steam rice. read more

Affordable prices for the amount of food they give you! I got the BBQ Chicken plate and it came with three thighs, rice, & macaroni. I was only able to eat 1/3 of my plate and had to take the rest home! My husband had the BBQ Beef and it was loaded with sweet onions so be cautious of that if you don't like onions. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side but they do have a few tables. We were given menus and when you're ready, you go to the counter to place your order. I've been looking for Hawaiian BBQ for the past 12 years and it seems that it's finally taking off in Columbus. Sakura is right down the road from our house, and I was very excited to see the grand opening signage! We finally got around to trying it out. We called in our order and it was ready in about 25 minutes. We ordered two Hawaii BBQ mix plates: short ribs & bbq chicken and short ribs & chicken katsu. The short ribs were meaty and had a pretty good flavor. It wasn't exactly what the locals do in Hawaii (missing a few ingredients) but it definitely sufficed. The meat was soft and not too fatty. The bbq chicken was just ok. It wasn't bad, but it needed more flavor and more of a char/grilled flavor to it. The katsu was really good! The breading was perfect. The only two "cons" are: it tasted like it was fried in the same oil as shrimp and there was no katsu sauce. It came with sweet chili sauce which is not a good combination. I would highly suggest looking into creating a katsu sauce. It's fairly inexpensive and easy to make! Each bbq mix plate came with two scoops of rice, two pieces of broccoli, and a scoop of Mac salad. It was a lot of food and the pricing wasn't too bad. We also ordered an appetizer of chicken katsu for my son and it was a lot of food! The service as pretty quick from the time I called to when I picked up. Maybe only a few minutes longer than I was told but the food was hot, so I didn't mind. If you decide to dine in, the space isn't large - maybe 10-12 people could sit on the 4tops. It's fairly plain in the decor but that doesn't bother me. They have a small assortment of bottled drinks to buy as well. read more

Sakura is a small restaurant in a shopping plaza that seems to be mostly busy with carry out but does have about 6 tables to dine in. You order at the counter but they have menus you can read while you are seated. Service was friendly and quick. All of our food was well seasoned, cooked well and arrived fresh and hot with huge portions and surprisingly lovely presentation. We had the Hawaiian BBQ short ribs, Tonkotsu Ramen, Hawaiian shrimp fried rice and chicken egg rolls. All were excellent and we have plenty of leftovers for a second meal. The house fried rice was loaded with meats and pineapple 5/5, grilled shrimp was juicy and flavorful 5/5, short rib was good like most short ribs 5/5, chicken bbq was okay 4/5. The side macaroni was great too 4/5 but I wish it indicated that meals always come with the side macaroni as ordering it separately was $4.5. Customers grab drinks from a cooler, but that's par for the course. I ordered Salmon & Chicken Hibachi. My partner ordered Beef Short Ribs. Both meals came with Rice. My wife ordered White Rice,b y t I got stuck with Fried Rice. It's okay; my fault (and maybe the cashiers fault, too) for assuming I'd get white rice. . Food came out in about 5 and 13 minutes (chicken came slower). Still, very reasonable speed. Our servings were HUGE, and both meals were so very yummy, I could hardly believe it. My Chicken and Salmon Hibachi was more complex than you'd velieve by checking the menu. It came out like a mesium-cookes Salmon Steak. The flank was moderately Blankenship by a rub,but understated. White Breast Chicken Cubes were excellently fried, probably pre Grilled slowly, then flash fried in a Wok with Sesame Oil. . Man...this dish was great - on par with the best of Chinese I've eaten...but it's more like Lemongrass Asian than an old school Mark Pis. Everything was done pretty perfectly. . We ordered two Ramens, being 100% honest, it wasn't good. The broth wasn't hot and it lacked a lot of flavor. The location wasn't clean, in their defense it was a really busy time, but I don't think that would be an excuse to have your restaurant dirty. The prices are super high for what they offer. The fried rice grilled shrimp BBQ beef were good. The BBQ chicken was okay. The egg rolls were nothing special, and the fried chicken was pretty dry. Ramen, appetizers, Hawaiian bbq, sushi, poke bowls, hibachi & vegetarian. I chose the two meet combo with chicken katsu & bbq beef. It came with either white or fried rice & macaroni salad. Everything was excellent. There is a dark dipping sauce & another sweet and sour sauce. I liked them both. My favorite was the bbq beef, the sweet onions they added were fantastic. Outside from the Hawaiian BBQ item, they also offer sushi, ramen and hibachi on their menu. For the Hawaiian BBQ option, you can pick 2 or 3 meats and come with vegetables, macaroni salad and steam rice. I got the BBQ chicken, BBQ Beef and Grilled Shrimp. Each of the meat is nicely charred and have the right amount of flavor. It you prefer some additional seasoning, dip right into the BBQ sauce come on the side. Also, got some Takoyaki and Fried Calamari. The BBQ plate itself is quite by itself and definitely can fill you up. I will have to come back to try out their ramen next time. read more

It's a good wait to get your meal. You will need to put in your order at the counter and pretty much, everything is self serve. We ordered the fried oyster, the fried octopus balls, salmon & tuna poke bowls, chicken katsu and a few sushi rolls that included, spider roll, Boston roll and shrimp tempura. Our bill came close to about $80 without tip (we tipped, even when it was self service). The takoyaki was a little squishy for my liking and only had 1 little tentacles in it. The sushi rolls were ok, nothing that stands out to me. The poke bowl was a good size but not bad. The chicken katsu, my husband said it was good but nothing that makes him would go out of his way to order again. I did enjoy the fried oysters as they reasonably price. Might return and try something else but it wouldn't be on radar to be in the mood for. read more

This is a small business in a strip mall that seems to have opened up in the past year. It has a small dining room, but seems to primarily be take out, and they don't do table service you order everything at register at the beginning. I ordered an eel roll, spicy yellow tail roll, tonkatsu ramen with pork belly, side of eel and spicy mayo sauce and a bottle of soda. They charged $1 per sauce, which I believe is overpriced. The ramen base price doesn't include meat btw the meat unknowing to me when I asked was an addition $4.50. The rolls were good, but basic and they were $5/$6 each which is a good price for 6 pieces. The ramen was like a 6.8/10 the broth was like milky and white which I've never had before. The egg was a bit overdone for my liking as well as the pork belly. I also wish they offered the spicy oil or seasoning set out to put in it. They were sweet to me as I left but for $40 after everything I don't think it's worth it. read more

I was disappointed. The food wasn't bad but don't expect to eat anything Hawaiian. If your gonna put Hawaii BBQ in your title then make sure you have it. The foods is Japanese American. Being a (Hawaiian) native Local, I can say without a doubt that it may have the look, but not the flavor. The Mac Salad is not the right flavor, the Kalbi is so thin and chewy, like beef jerky.
