Our favorite Japanese spot in Harrison! We love to order takeout from here, but have also eaten at the restaurant too - with lots of adequate space, and conveniently next to the Harrison Path train station. We have tried many different menu items in the past, including their bento boxes and bubble tea, which are delicious. Our go-to takeout order though is Chicken teriyaki - which comes with a heaping serving for 2, eel avocado rolls, and shrimp tempura rolls. The food is fairly priced and the service is wonderful. I was staying at the Element. It was close and figured I would give it a try. Service was friendly. Seaweed salad, California roll were so so but the teriyaki chicken was a disappointment. This place was such a let down tbh... I'll say, the dumplings were the only reason for the 2 stars. So good, wish I'd ONLY ordered dumplings... I love sushi and I eat it about one time a week so when I have a disappointing experience it bothers me. I needed to get away from the office for lunch and decided to give Sakura a try. I didn't get anything fancy-a Rainbow Roll, a House Roll (subbed cucumber for avocado) and an eel hand roll. When I stopped in the place was empty except for the one person ordering in front of me so I was a little disappointed in how slow the service was. The sushi itself was fine, but nothing special. The avocado in the Rainbow Roll was a little mushy (not bad, just mushy) and the sauce on the eel was a bit sweeter than I prefer, but the fish was all good. Sometimes you just get a vibe from a place and that's what it was here. Service wasn't great and for me that's always a big deal. It just wasn't what I want in a sushi place. read more

I notice they are running under different people since July 2021 and for a good change. The previous people were terrible, small portions, unfriendly staff, credit card never were working on weekends since they were forcing payment only in cash, even they were smoking cigarettes inside.....horrible!!!!! I've never had to throw away food that I ordered because it was bad. This place is the first restaurant to make me do that. I've eaten takeout from here before and while it wasn't the best it was fine for sushi cravings. What I got today was food that was borderline spoiled, and frozen for god knows how long. You can see in the picture below that the salmon was already a brownish color, and even the seaweed salad looked like it was dying. It's clear that they were just trying to move fish that should have been thrown out. Same goes for the rainbow roll that I ordered. I tried the tuna off the top by itself and almost gagged because despite clearly being frozen fish, it tasted like it was close to spoiled. I strongly recommend that any and all people looking for sushi stay far far away from a place that clearly doesn't care about hitting a minimum baseline quality. read more

I normally don't write reviews but after tonight's experience, I just have to. This place is located conveniently next to the Harrison PATH station with free 2 hours garage parking with the exception whenever there's a Red Bull event. Upon entering the restaurant you can smell the mixture of Japanese and Chinese cuisine. The decor is rather bland and a bit tacky. If you don't mind that, it's a decent and clean place to eat. I occasionally dine here when I have a craving for fast Chinese food and Japanese cuisines. I normally order their sushi rolls, bento combo and their bubble tea. The food is mediocre, pretty bland. It's not something you'd want to take a date to. It's a typical Chinese and Japanese fusion. So if you are into something to satisfy your fix and don't care about the quality you can go here. Let's talk about the customer service. They have a big turn around at the cashier position. Every time I walk by there's always a new cashier. Besides the cashier, the staff spoke broken English. Any who, my last three visits here, my ordered had been mixed up or lost each time. Tonight I came in around 9:25pm ordered and waited. I didn't get my food until 5 minutes before they closed (10:00pm)! I had to wait in line again to ask for my food. The cashier lady apologized and said sorry for forgetting my order. Here comes a lady that spoke little English ordered the same thing I was ordering. The sushi chef started making her food before mine! Pissed off, I asked the sushi chef where is my Eel bento?? He said "So Sorry!" He had just finished making her food and set it aside knowingly, that if he gave it to the lady that just ordered, I would have lost it. He finally started to prepare my food and was completed in 3 minutes!!! What the hell was I waiting for?!! There were four customers that came after me and got their food way before me! In a business perspective, I sensed that they favor the easy to do orders than the more expensive bento orders. That is why the other got their food way before mine. My order almost cost twice as much yet they neglect those customers. Shame! Enough of my rant. I gave them a one star only because the cashier was nice and the food didn't kill me. read more

Having eaten at Five Guys next door various times, I would pass by and never see this establishment filled with patrons. So that worried me but I decided to take a chance. Chicken was a bit fatty and didn't taste as great as other Japanese eateries I have been to. But I hadn't eaten all day so I kept grubbing. The noodles were good though I wish they weren't so greasy. Didn't get much vegetables but the ones I did try were cooked well yet crunchy. My company had the same except ordered fried rice as a side. That was probably the best thing on the table. An order of Thai bubble tea took longer to make than the actual food which was odd. It also tasted watered down. I've tasted better. Overall? If I'm starving, in the mood for some teriyaki and not willing to travel very far for my meal, I'd give the place another go. read more

The restaurant itself isn't bad, there's TVs and loads of seating but that's probably where the positives end. There was a lovely woman on the door with free samples, but the rest of the staff were all boring and depressed and obviously didn't want to be there. And then the food. Ugh.
