Food service ambience... great mix of everything and the food is amazing and fresh the service is five stars

We got the three special roll deal that came with dumpling soup for free on Uber. The three special rolls were pretty selected which was a shame, it would have been preferable to pick. The three rolls were the Angry Shrimp, Salmon Lovers, and Samurai. The dumplings in the dumpling soup were actually shumai. The salmon Lovers roll was by far our favorite. The mango chili sauce on top was an amazing addition. The samurai roll was fine. Very tuna-y. I just dont like tuna enough to appreciate this one as much but if you do love tuna you'd love this one. The Angry Shrimp roll was weird. It tasted decent, but was just very wet. I think they just drowned it in too much sauce. And the shumai in the soup was a pleasant surprise for me because I love shumai, but my partner doesn't so he wa disappointed with that. The soup does not say that the dumplings are shumai in the description. Overall, we were impressed. We dont normally get special rolls, but we decided to splurge tonight and mostly were not disappointed. Would return. read more

Wow was this place great! I always pass by the place and have been meaning to try. My fiancé had some Uber Eats credit to use and we decided to give this place a try. This place has great Uber Eats buy one get one deals. We got 2 samurai sushi sets, 2 Red Bull rolls, 2 kamakazi rolls and 2 samurai roll. All included in the bogo deal - what's a steal! The sushi sets included 10pc chef's choice nigiri. All 10pcs were delicious! We both agreed that the eel was our favorite. All the rolls were large and tasty. I wasn't expecting much from this place but I'm really pleasantly surprised. Samurai sushi is a great addition to the neighborhood. They have tables both inside and outside. I'm actually livid. I ordered sushi that CLEARLY said NO spicy mayo, and everything came completely drenched in it. Like what is the point of even having a menu description if you're not going to follow it? Not everyone likes spicy mayo or can even eat it, so this isn't a small mistake--it ruins the entire meal. And on top of that, no utensils were included... so even if I wanted to eat it, how exactly was I supposed to? This was a complete miss. We came here for a quiet lunch hour. Corner spot, entrance is hidden for you first timers. Signs are posted which door to use. Also a couple of delivery drivers are always outside. When we found the door, the inside is small but clean. Looks more like an outpost than a sit in and eat spot. Typical Japanese-American menu. A lot of rolls but no katsu or curry offerings. Ordered a couple of drinks, the ramen, a roll and an appetizer. Food came out hot. The appetizer was good. Ramen and rolls were well made and good portions. Ok, so listen. We all know that when it comes to sushi, we have to be a little more careful with where we buy from. I came across Samuri Sushi last year on Post Mates. I was hesitant about ordering from them until my friend who lives near me, ordered from there herself and loved it! And when it comes to food, I trust her taste because she's a bit bougie like me lol. She told me that she tried this fried lobster roll that had me more than intrigued! I tried that and was hooked forever! I love ordering from them because they often have buy one, get one on Post Mates. It is always soooo fresh! I never have to worry about getting sick or feeling nauseous. It's always super light sushi, made with yummy sauces, caviar, rice, etc. I love the Red Bull roll, the crispy rice, and so much more. I've yet to have something from there that I did not like! Because it's freshly made, I'd say to always order in advance because it does take longer than other restaurants, but it is so worth the wait! Keep up the quality, SS! Please! The quality of fish was fresh and the rise on the rolls were perfectly cooked. Their wasabi also has a nice kick to it. My favorite sushi place in the area! Reasonable prices for great food. The rolls are great and so fresh tasting. I personally also really like the tuna tartare and the salmon tataki. It's hard to find such fresh tasting sushi without breaking the bank so I'm so glad this is near me. The space is also really cute. They have a back area where the chairs are all mismatched and eclectic. While the restaurant itself is more homey feeling, it adds to its charm. The people are always so nice too. Love this place! The quality of the ingredients wasn't bad, but the rice was mushier / more overcooked than I personally would've preferred. The special rolls we ordered: - Red Bull Roll: Out of all the rolls we ordered, this was my favorite. This was the most flavorful, and the salmon tasted really fresh. Would definitely order this again! - Winter Roll: The spicy yellowtail wasn't really spicy. Not bad, but wasn't memorable. Wasn't a fan of the asparagus in the roll. - Salmon Lovers: Was underwhelming. Wish more of the pieces had the seared salmon on top, but it seemed like it was 50% avocado and 50% salmon. Also didn't think the mango sauce on top meshed well. - Dancing Dragon Roll: Wasn't really a fan of the asparagus inside this roll either. Next time I'd skip this roll and just go for the Eel Avocado Roll. - Lobster Roll: Wouldn't recommend because it seemed like a pretty plain and boring. This roll is pricier because of the lobster, but I think that the crispy lobster could've been replaced by any kind of tempura and it would've tasted the same. - New York Roll: Not bad, not outstanding. Overall, I think this is a decent place to get affordable sushi and Japanese food. The restaurant is cozy. This place is just a godsend. Right by Berry Lane park, it is a positive addition to the Bergen Lafayette area. The Sushi is always fresh, and they offer deals every day, where you can double the portion for the price of one. I order delivery and pick up so, cannot speak of the interior. However, the food had been consistent and impeccable. Do try their lemonades and iced drinks. And do not miss out on their cheese cakes! I wish they sold the entire cheese cake instead of the individual portions. I like to wash down my cheesecake with dark coffee...it is a treat. UberEats is so much better than grubhub. The tonkotsu ramen is hands down, the best in the Hudson county. I've tried the ramen at like 20 places and will always pick Samurai Sushi over anywhere else for my first AND second bowl of ramen. Everything else on the menu is amazing too, the quality of the sushi is incredible and I wouldn't be surprised if they carved it from a fresh whole tuna. I can't tell you how good the chefs roll is. Called to do a to-go order. Used their website for the menu but unfortunately they do not have the jersey city one up (missing some items). It was a decent size order and was told 10-15 minutes for pick up (I was shocked). Well, no, it took an hour. I called my fiancé after 40minutes and he said they still had not started on the sushi. The manager was even telling the chefs to get started on his order, that he had been waiting a long time. The restaurant was not packed but they had what seemed many Uber eats orders. They packaged it nicely. The sushi was delicious and fresh. Salmon was super yummy both as nigiri and the tataki appetizer. The gyoza was ice cold. No soy sauce or chop sticks given. Sushi is great! But do not order over the weekend because you will be waiting a ling time for your food. I made the mistake of ordering fried because they arrived soggy and cold. The sushi is good! I always get the ramen is pretty good. Def could be spicier...but I'm from Cali and ramen is common so most restaurants compete for the best ramen. The back room decorations are very eclectic and cute. Perfect place for an intimate moment. The service is great. They do not have alcohol and it's not BYOB but they have different herbal teas. My bf had a chef pick and he enjoyed it! If you worried about getting a buzz she walk down less than a block and go to The Factory for drinks they have a full bar...which is exactly what we did following our dinner. So happy that there is a new sushi spot in Jersey City, especially in the Greenville/Lafayette area! I went to Samurai on a Friday evening and was pleasantly surprised and how the space was so drastically changed the the older Hooked JC esthetic. The space is now bright, open and lively. All of the tables were decorated with flowers and the detail that was put into plating and tableware was noticeable. I ended up having a late dinner, but I will definitely be back to try more of the menu. We started with the rock shrimp appetizer followed by the AAC roll, Lobster roll & Lava roll. All were really great. We also shared a pot of the Blue Jasmine tea which was excellent and the pot was more than enough for 2 people to share for the duration of the meal. Big kudos to Samurai Sushi. FIRST, I've read the negative reviews. I will admit, the restaurant needs to improve their timeliness of orders in the queue. I've had to wait myself for items to be prepared long after I was told it would be ready for pickup. Totally reasonable to note this. HOWEVER, the quality and flavor of their menu items makes it worth the wait, and worth returning with your business. The Buy One Get One offers are probably the best value in Jersey City by far. Not only do they give you options but it's varied enough where you could feed a family of four for less than $50 with delivery! The fish is fresh, the portion sizes are generous. I only wish they delivered soy sauce in the little plastic cups. I don't like the packets they provide. But I understand it's better for delivering. The interior of the restaurant is nice, tho my partner and I have literally not once sat in (we should change that ....) Delivery is usually quick and efficient, only once has it been delayed beyond the normal delivery window. Highly recommend! read more

Simply put, outstanding food time and time again. The quality is superior to most at a stellar price point! To be transparent we have only ordered Uber Eats as they have really, really attractive promos, albeit we have already ordered over 10 times - and every time we were blown away. Special rolls are tasty, pretty good given the deals (rotated, likely on inventory clearance). But the sashimi... if you are willing to shell out a little more for the toro and sashimi combos... you will not regret. I can guarantee you the fish are very fresh. Tuna tonight was like fresh wagyu, and the red snapper (belly) was divine. Cannot recommend enough.
