Tried to order take-out, ordered beforehand... they didn't even make my order until I asked about it... had to wait another 20min.

Perfect compliment to the day eating my favorite food Sushi. Now I have to take the opportunity as hubby doesn't like it so when we travel no sushi restaurants. Lucky for me and Mom Izumi is the best at sea! So we start with the classics a nice Japanese beer and edamame it was a generous serving with just the right amount of salt. Pork dumplings, and tempura vegetables were terrific for everything else I got adventurous so I said bring me what you do best. That is when they brought everything and alot of it. The chicken dish was exceptional. I ended with a sweet dessert a sesame ball with a sweet dark paste inside it was delicious. If I could I would eat here every day. From the warm greeting of the maitre d who addresses every guest by name. Very nice touch to the intimate setting and the fellow guests most seemed to be here for all their meals. I don't blame them as it was fantastic.

My wife was on a lounge chair about 11ish and I decided to join her after a few screwdrivers made with Titos Vodka. Long Story short, I konked out on the chair! Not to worry, I don't burn. My Italian-Greek skin only gets like skin colored mocha. Sing it! Once I woke up, I was craving a Sapporo and a nice roll. Enter Izumi. We walk in and we're told, sorry we're closed. Oh man, really? Ok.. Come in. We'll accommodate you. That folks, is excellent customer service *Royal Caribbean, are you reading this?? I ordered a funky roll and my wife ordered a nice salad topped with poached lobster and other shaved fish items that she quietly passed to me. An amazing lunch and I thank you for allowing us to dine at Izumi.

Stopped by this place and was so impressed…read more The menu is very big with a mix of Thai, Chinese, and Japanese options. Everything came very fast, hardly had to wait for our food. You can also see the chefs cooking in the back, and everything tastes so fresh! The place was very small, with very little walking space, so definitely expect to get cozy. But it's nice to see what everyone else is ordering, since most people there seemed to be regulars, and all of the plates here look and smell really good. We got a few plates to share with the table. Starting off with the calamari appetizer, the pieces are a good size and they taste quite fresh. The pad see ew has a great mix of noodles, chicken, and vegetables. Didn't feel like there was too much of anything, everything was well balanced and tasted very good. They have a large menu of sushi options, and the scallop sushi tasted very fresh. The mango chicken has a sweet and sour taste, with bell peppers, mango slices, and rice. The teriyaki chicken and shrimp combination is a huge plate with a wonderful presentation. Very flavorful and filling. The only thing I didn't like was the Thai iced tea. I personally am a huge fan of Thai iced tea, but the presentation wasn't very appealing and the drink was way too sweet for my liking. Probably wouldn't order again. I noticed there were a lot of delivery people coming in to pick things up, so I can tell this is a well loved spot. I loved everything I ate and would definitely come again!

"Probably has weak food"…read more Passed by the spot because next-door there's a really good Spanish food spot and I thought to myself this place probably has some weak food wrong again. The Mango chicken is always fresh and juicy as well as my personal favorite in the drunken noodles. It doesn't even need a protein. They had a deal where if you spend over $30 you get a free roll and this meal comes just to that amount.

Rating the sushi alone, if you're looking for…read moresomething simple, a quick meal and fresh, this place may be your go to (didn't think it was worth the price. Paid a little over $30 for the two things pictured below). I was worried about the quality with so many different rolls being offered on the menu, but they prepare the sushi made to order- the freshness is there. I think the service wasn't as fast as everyone is saying in other reviews. I got there right when they opened at 11AM. I was actually in the parking lot much earlier but had to wait until they opened ofc. I ordered two rolls and it took about 20 minutes to make- no one else in the establishment but myself. Customer service was dead. I'm pretty upbeat as that is my personality, I came in excited to try and was met with some annoyance. As I was leaving, I said to the chef "thank you was delicious" then said "everyone have a wonderful day" they literally stared at me and ignored, before I finally walked out. Wasn't expecting that as I was the only one there and was there as soon as they opened. Not sure that I would go again. I think one time was enough. There are much better sushi places to try, maybe not so much in the Bayonne area.

First, the location has parking, and it's a little cozy and quaint inside. It's not set up for a large group to eat in but, for a person or two there's a small table. They offer a variety of sushi, poke bowls, mochi and other Japanese snacks , etc. The staff is cordial and are kind. The menu was reasonably priced . I bought four rolls ( two of which were specialty rolls)and it came out to $29! That's a great price . I only waited about 7-8 mins and my rolls came out fast and beautifully prepared . The yellowtail scallion roll wasn't as tasty as I thought it would be . Didn't have any kick to it and you barely tasted the scallion. The yellowtail with avocado was so smooth and melted in your mouth. The calamari tempura roll was crunchy and tasted fresh. The sauce gave it a sweet taste to it which was nice. The best out of the four was definitely the shrimp tempura lover roll. OMG it was the most delicious thing i've ever tried. The shrimp, the crab, the avocado, and the sauce poured on top was absolutely divine. It was sweet, tangy and melted on the first bite . I will recommend this to anyone who is a sushi lover and wants an authentic sushi experience . Please give them a try

The restaurant is big, clean, and really nice inside. My only funny thought every time I go is, "I wonder what this place would look like if all the lights were turned on?" It's a little dark for my taste, but that's just me. The food is always good. The shrimp, chicken, and steak have never disappointed me. Every once in a while the food comes out a little light on the seasoning, so don't be shy about asking for a little more. Once you do, it's delicious. The service has always been great. Everyone has been friendly, and we've never had any issues. Now, let me save you a few dollars... I'd skip the alcohol. Every time I've tried a drink, it's been pretty weak, so I'd rather spend that money on more food unless you would be satisfied with a few squirts of soki while they are cooking at your table. Speaking of food, the portions are very good. For around $26-27, you get soup, salad, your entrée, and enough food that I honestly don't think I've ever left without a to-go container. I almost always end up with another meal for the next day. Overall, this is one of my favorite lunch spots after a shopping day. Good food, great service, generous portions, and leftovers? That's a win in my book. We'll definitely keep coming back.

The three rolls were the Angry Shrimp, Salmon Lovers, and Samurai. The dumplings in the dumpling soup were actually shumai. The salmon Lovers roll was by far our favorite. The mango chili sauce on top was an amazing addition. The samurai roll was fine. Very tuna-y. I just dont like tuna enough to appreciate this one as much but if you do love tuna you'd love this one. The Angry Shrimp roll was weird. It tasted decent, but was just very wet. I think they just drowned it in too much sauce. And the shumai in the soup was a pleasant surprise for me because I love shumai, but my partner doesn't so he wa disappointed with that. The soup does not say that the dumplings are shumai in the description. Overall, we were impressed. We dont normally get special rolls, but we decided to splurge tonight and mostly were not disappointed. Would return.

Solo Brunch Experience: Clean Atmosphere, Mixed Flavors…read more I visited Sakura for brunch recently and had a bit of a mixed experience. On the positive side, the restaurant was exceptionally clean and spacious with plenty of seating. Since I visited during brunch, it was quite empty, which made for a quiet meal, though it did feel a bit pricey for a solo diner. The Food: Chicken Winng-ers! The were the winners, here. Chicken wings: were easily the highlight of the meal. They arrived crispy and super hot, as if they had just come straight from the kitchen. Sushi: The sushi was okay--decent enough, but not particularly memorable. Disappointments: Unfortunately, several other dishes didn't quite hit the mark. The lobster was far too salty to eat, the ribs were dry and lacked flavor, and the fried scallops were very greasy. Service: I found the staff to be not the friendliest during my visit, which added to the overall "blah" feeling of the food. While this specific meal wasn't for me given the price point (around $28.99 for the buffet), I appreciated the cleanliness of the space. I'm always happy to support local spots, but for the price, I was hoping for a bit more consistency in the food quality. Lobster & Ribs: "I struggled with the ribs being dry and the lobster being too salty to eat. For those who visit often, is this a common issue, or did I just catch them on an off day?"

Surprisingly the sushi was very limited as well with a lot of rice. Their sashimi was not fresh so I would opt out of it. Cold appetizers were not bad and I was surprised they didn't have a regular salad bar like most buffet would. This one also does not have a hibachi station compared to its competitors on the island. Parking is challenging but they do offer 2 hours free parking at the lot if you have 4 or more people and only during dinner time. The lobster was not fresh and the meat was mushy. Snow crab legs were good. Overall, I think they have to work through their selections and frequency on refilling their food as there is a few options on the island with an abundance of options.
