My friend from out of town got scammed here! Our charge for the night was only $106. But somehow she got charged $1,361.19 and they somehow CAN NOT find her $106 receipt. That's suspicious. Unfortunately they cancelled our reservation two days prior to it being due, and provided an unsatisfactory resolution to the problem. The explanation from the manager was incoherent, and instead tried to shift blame for their own inadequacy. We came here with a HUGE group for my friend's post wedding karaoke bash. We had so much fun karaoke-ing throughout the night and drinking with friends alike. This place almost feels like a little speakeasy as you have to go down to the basement to enter this place. There's a main hall which has public karaoke and a bar and the private rooms that you would find in any traditional karaoke bar. We had a blast! Came here a month ago and had the best time. Drinks were awesome and the private room was perfect for our group. We ended up staying till they closed and danced and sang in the main area after our room reservation ended. Staff was very helpful if any thing wasn't working, for example we had a couple songs that wouldn't play, they showed us how to fix it. Easy. Will definitely come back. Basement karaoke bar, with an excellent HipHop vibe, private rooms, booth / lounge seating, bar and high table seating. We ate, we drank, we made merry. We sang to our hearts content. Food and drink was reasonably priced and the Karaoke room was also reasonable priced (so says our resident Karaoke expert). It was also cheaper than a bunch of other options we priced. Katsu-Don (Cornish cross chicken) was on point. Crispy chicken, slightly runny egg, perfectly cooked rice with an "umami" sauce... I would return for this alone. Manny, the bar tender and our caretaker for the evening, took care of us like a champ. Make sure to tip him! He was a delight, and a friendly dude all around. It's in the basement, so go down from street level. They have maybe 8 or 10 private rooms for Karaoke, some quite large (there was a party of 20 there), restrooms on either side of the place, and several booths with low seating and a lounge feel. It's worth checking out, if you're in the market for a Karaoke place, or if you're a person who eats food. I tried their Malort cocktail (I think it was called the Chinese Revenge) It confirmed to me that Malort can be quite enjoyable in the right drink, but my party did not agree. If you're a tourist and haven't tried Malort, I'd say you should. The other drinks were tasty but ran to the sweet side. Swing by, I doubt you will regret it. And Seriously: Tip Manny.​ read more

This place use to be very fun but I went recently and it just doesnt seem the same. Whats nice is they have a public karaoke area if you dont want to pay for a room. My group paid for a karaoke room for 7 people. They were 45 minutes late in giving us our room. When we were waiting they gave us 1 bottle of soju as compensation. We originally had the room at 10:30, they said it would be ready at 11. At 11:05 we ask again if our room is ready and then they say they need to clean it. Whats also annoying about this place is if you rent a room they have a card on file and if you keep ordering drinks/food, theyll charge the card on file. We did this and they kept doing separate charges and payments and asking us to sign a new receipt every time. At the end, they dont give you a final receipt of everything charged and I dont even know if I got my security deposit back. They also charged us for the full 3 hours when we got the room late. On top of this they already charge an extra service fee so but couldnt see the receipt since it is so dark in the room, so you do not need to tip additional unless you want. My group had fun but I definitely would rather try other karaoke places in chinatown. read more

Cool spot to do Karaoke in China town! I've been here twice for group events where we had a room reserved and it was such a fun experience to have your own space. It definitely sets Sakura apart from other Karaoke bars. They have different sized rooms depending on your group size, and you can order food and drinks from your room without having to leave to go to the bar. Some of the bigger rooms also have a bathroom attached. Their song interface is a bit confusing to use and find the songs you want. You have to use pretty broad search criteria to find your song, but overall it was a very fun experience!! read more

We stopped into Sakura on a whim. we were at another spot farther down and had asked where else in China town was good for a drink. The bartender there said, "maybe Sakura, but it's just a Karaoke bar, not that great. Well those disparaging remarks made us want to check it out. We walked in and it was clear we were early for whatever scene kicks off there. There wasn't too many people yet. That's was fine because we got our drinks quick which gave us time to get some liquid courage. We really weren't sure about singing, much less what song to sing. But then a classic duet song came on randomly that we liked. No one had picked it, it seemed the DJ had just put it on. Maybe they figured some one would take the bait. We did. We went up on stage without being asked and grabs the mikes. Yep! We belted out the song, and that's how our Karaoke night went in China town. for sure stop in if you get a chance. Worst experience the host Kimberly was obviously intoxicated and supper unprofessional. Nobody seemed to know what was going on. Tried to get a refund after they charged us and then said there having problems with system and couldn't refund us at that time. Obviously overbooked place and no real management. Celebrated my birthday last minute here and everyone at Sakura was super friendly and accommodating. It was a party of 9 and Michael did an amazing job taking care of us! He was super prompt when we needed our orders placed and took care of our bottle service without difficulty. We were able to extend our hour in one party room to continue doing karaoke, but we still wanted to stay a little longer and they were kind enough to transition us into a more intimate room. I was very disappointed when I came in this evening just to see the place. I had never been before and just wanted to check it out for a second and continue with my night. The security guard was extremely pleasant. Then I got to the host and she asked if I had a reservation, I said no. She then moaned like ohhhh I don't know. If you can't come in without a reservation that could simply be told to you by the security guard. The space was half empty and if they had done last call she should have just said it. I definitely won't be back and just felt like the whole interaction was very rude. Not having my business won't make or break you but ugggg your host needs do / just be better. Fun place to go with friends! The lighting effects and decor in the room made it a relaxing and cozy environment. They had two mics in the room that you could pass around to share. Some of the songs had the original singer's voice playing during the song (most of the newer songs I feel) while others had the original singing removed so that your voice could come through more clearly through the mic. This could be good or bad depending on how much you like your friends' singing! Can't speak to food because I didn't get any. They did have shots of tequila that you could order. Service (getting water refills, alcohol) was relatively fast. Their website states that you can't bring outside beverages but they let multiple people in my party in with bubble tea from elsewhere in Chinatown. read more

There are so many things that are off about this place. The first is the service. It seems like they but their business needs over their customers needs consistently. The best example of this is charging for water. I don't drink alcohol or anything carbonated. I was thirsty and they ended up charging me $5 for a bottle of water. This is in poor taste for a number of reasons, but mostly that they are prioritizing their bottom line over their customers safety. Most bars have water and other non-alcoholic drinks complimentary for patrons to encourage DD. They also charge you for a room booking, which is completely understandable, but more to the point that they are squeezing every dime out of their customers in ways that seem borderline unethical. Another thing that happened was we were admitted 15 min late into our room. This is fine in theory as we booked it for 2 hours. The second the clock had run out they came into our room and turned on the lights. Although, there may be more appropriate ways to do this, I get that our reservation ended at certain time. It seemed as though the booking should start from when you were admitted. Overall I left this place with a very bad taste in my mouth and will not be coming back. read more

While we found songs we liked, there were some glitches in the system that night. Considering we love karaoke, we will likely be back to give this place another try. 4 stars just because Sakura was our Thursday home throughout the summer, and the bartending staff is so dope! We exclusively sing in the main space, so can't really comment about the private rooms, but I will say that they need better music selection. It's already a giant pain to try and operate the karaoke machine, so at least have some more modern songs for us to sing. The drinks are nothing special, so I'd recommend pregaming a bit before coming. Overall a fun time though if you're looking for a casual night! read more
