This place is ok, a notch above the mall food court sushi joint. It has a very small and limited menu which was on the pricey side. I went on a Tuesday night at dinner time and we were the only customers there. Maybe in time their customer base will grow but for now no wait. If you're used to mediocrity then Sakura should offer a familiar experience. We ordered veggie tempura, 3 rolls, and a regular sushi entree for delivery. Perhaps that was the first mistake - spending over $60 on sushi delivery. To be fair (to be fair, TO BE FAIR...) our order arrived about 30 minutes after we placed it. Speed is nice, but I would have gladly waited another 30 minutes for higher quality food. The tempura was fine but the sogginess of the veggies inside the coating made me suspect they were once frozen. Times are tough these days, so sure, fry up that frozen tempura as most of us won't be the wiser. The real tragedy was the sushi, which was lukewarm by the time we put our chopsticks to it. We hesitantly consumed some of this bland raw fish, rice, and seaweed. Gone were the sense of freshness and elegance. Where are the pride and passion? I'm not going to be the guy to say, "I really wanted to like this place..." because I really want to like all the food I get from any restaurant. That satisfaction was lost with Sakura. I regret not spending my money elsewhere. Sometimes the truth hurts, but hopefully we learn from it and strive to be better. read more

I had just traveled from 1/2 way across the world and needed food before sleep. Too tired to even contemplate going out for sushi - I ordered in. I hadn't ordered from Sakura before, but they had a low delivery and min. order fee, so I went for it. I ordered a small (which was actually a lot) miso soup, an order of spring rolls (2), 2 tuna rolls, and a cali roll, as well as the little rice flour ice cream things. For everything including delivery and tip it was $30. This is more than I am used to paying in Philadelphia, but beggers can't be choosers, so I went for it. The best part were the egg rolls. The miso soup was tasteless and watery. The rolls had big chunks of fresh fish - but somehow no taste. And the ice cream encasements were so thick and rubbery I couldn't eat them. Disappointing really, but nothing made me sick - so maybe the best thing to say is that this food wasn't to my taste. read more

I LOVE it here. Everything I have tried has been delicious and beautifully prepared. Whether dining in or ordering out, the quality stays the same. The staff is so friendly that every time I go in there and pick up my food I feel like I really have some friends lol. If you choose to dine in, they have a BYOB quaint little section up a staircase. We love this place and order from them at least a few times a month. We have yet to order in the restaurant itself (we get delivery), but we are huge fans of Sakura's food and value! Other sushi places in our area, and we tried a LOT of them before finding Sakura, are not as satisfying in both quality and price as this place is. Their selection is fantastic as well. I have passed this restaurant so many times and never walked in until yesterday. The ambiance was nice, small, cozy and comfortable. The place was filled but not congested. The food was good. Veggie ramen noodles which was more like veggie lo mein was good and the sushi was fresh. Chicken fried rice and house fried rice could have had more to it than meat and rice. We're more familiar with scallions, egg etc... in the "fried rice" but it was okay. Overall nice place and good food. read more

I don't get most people's reviews who claim this sushi is top quality. If you have a fine sushi palate, it's really far from acceptable. It's not super fresh, you can tell by the blandness of taste, nor are the rolls well prepared. The "wasabi" is always extremely dry and crumbly, and they don't even get enough business that they'd need delivery of their seafood more than once a week or so. How can that be fresh? Yokohama (Lenola Rd. Maple Shade) sushi chefs shop themselves in the Philly seafood markets daily. That's how sushi places are supposed to be. Anything off the sushi menu is super salty and almost inedible. One star up from mall food court. Only do it if you have to have sushi taste and need delivery. Otherwise drive somewhere else. Sagami, Yokohama, or over the bridge to Philly. read more

The sushi and sashimi at Sakura is as good as an I've had in Japantown in San Francisco. If they have the salmon belly sashimi don't hesitate to order it (I might regret telling you this ;-) It's silky smooth. The staff are super friendly, and very accommodating. This place was horrible... I didn't have their sushi but their "hibachi" wasn't hibachi. They cooked the food in the back and my husband ordered chicken and steak... I swear the steak had to be rat... There is no way ANY steak is as tough as theirs were. I've had VERY tough steak before but that meat we had was NOT steak... The only thing that was OK was their rice, and that was with adding the yum yum sauce to it. The broccoli was horrible and I LOVE any kind of broccoli, whether it's cook extrA soft or left cruchy. I ordered delivery from this place so I'm only basing it off of that I wasn't too impressed the fish was not as much as I'd like it to be and there was a lot of lacking flavors and some of my appetizers like the beef negamaki and the shumai the seaweed salad was also lacking something which is very odd for me because I don't think I've ever had a bad seaweed salad needless to say I will not be returning Maybe when you dine in it's a different experience, but I have also had sushi delivery from many places before and never had an issue like that read more
