Frankly you don't go to Sushi Express for their non-appealing customer reception area because it's all about take out! My two rolls were so fresh you could almost hear the ocean. The fish had that clean taste you want with precise cuts in each roll. The Miso Soup was magnificent in its simplicity!! Full of flavor and packed with wakame! Tried a few rolls.. shrimp tempura, crab tempura, spicy salmon, and eel and avocado. Good ratio of rice. If I'm ever in the neighborhood again, I'd want to try out the sushi burritos. Price seem reasonable too. Definitely worth a repeat visit. Nothing too fancy but just good. read more

I have written a review before but after ordering here for the past almost two years I needed to update! I have always driven by this place and judged it based on its store front and "express" name. I figured, how good could it be? Boy was I wrong. This place has gotten me through this pandemic. When it started I was unable to eat at my usual sushi spots. I wanted a place that delivered and was willing to try this place. After my first order I was hooked. I order a full on platter of food just about every Friday only spending about 40 dollars or less. I am always impressed. The mango kani salad is something I've never seen anywhere else. They use a good amount of crab for their kani salads unlike other places I've tried! I also absolutely love the pork gyoza. One of the best I've tried as well. The harumaki comes free with an order of $25 or more and I make sure to get it every time. I love the sweet spicy chili sauce that they give you to dip the harumaki in. Their sushi is delicious and they don't skimp on ingredients. I was new to sushi burritos and I'm absolutely obsessed with them now. I have only tried the spicy shrimp burrito so far but it's so delicious. I love the use of mango. The workers are efficient and the customer service is good if there is ever an issue. With the amount of food I order as often as I do I'd expect them to mess up my order more often but they don't! The ordering over the phone is quick and easy, the food always comes at a reasonable time and I believe the food is a reasonable price! I tell absolutely everyone about this place. Wow, wow, WOW! Sushi express exceeded our expectations. For a to-go spot, we were unsure how good it could possibly be, but hoped the Yelp ratings lived up to the hype. Boy, did it! Neither of us could pass up an opportunity to try the bubble tea...i got a classic milk tea and my boyfriend got the taro with the addition of popping boba. He couldn't stop raving about it all night. I'll admit, it was delicious and refreshing. To share, we got the special Volcano Roll, and American Dream Roll, and a Spicy Salmon Roll. Ok, the special rolls were MASSIVE and tasty with every bite. The spicy salmon is as you'd expect (still yummy). Since we spent $25 we also got complimentary veggie spring rolls. Can't complain! First time trying sushi from this place. I'm still trying to find a solid sushi place. I do appreciate that they will switch white for brown rice (another place said it wasn't possible). I got a spicy tuna roll and a spicy salmon roll. Relatively cheap in price. I was hoping to see high grade salmon like I see in one of the review photos, but it's not the same. It's a low grade of sushi and while it's okay, it's not what I'd like. I don't mind paying more for good quality. It seemed really just mushy. The tuna and salmon both looked the same except a slightly darker color. And both were extremely mushy. I don't care that the brown rice was falling apart as it'll do that due to it not having the same consistency as white sticky rice. The sushi wasn't horrible, it'll cure a quick craving, but I'm not satisfied with not having a good quality. They're not allowing anyone into the store during this pandemic, but you call when you're outside and they'll bring it out. I may come back, but not for sushi. They were really nice about it. Kani salad was good, not as spicy as I'd like or thought. I got two rolls: salmon avocado and crunchy tuna. Both are delicious and fresh. In fact, the menu selection is also a step above their local competitors. From sushi to hibachi, udon and apps galore, even those sushi burritos that I can't really get behind. We've ordered a variety of food of food from them at least 3 times and have not been disappointed. Plus delivery! For sushi, apps and tempura udon soup (my go to), this is my new go to for this area. Honestly, the udon soup alone will have me ordering from here. It's really good with a full quart of broth, a container of noodles, veggies and a poached egg plus your tempura or chicken etc. It's no Sagami but it blows the local level competition away I think. The verdict is in.... I like this place!! Strictly takeout. Not a huge list to decipher. Far from the fancy rolls and sushi boats that goes well with some sake.. But for lunch, for takeout, for a quick fix, I can endorse this place. The rolls are noticeably smaller in diameter than you'll usually see. But they're just as good tasting. I've had one of their lunch specials. The salad was chilled and fresh. I haven't had their soup, but I have had one of their appetizers (rock shrimp) which I could've lived without. I reviewed Sushi Express on episode 39 of the Just Grubbin podcast at the 12:47 mark. I can't even front, this place caught me totally by surprise. In a good way. Like when you get fries from Burger King and you notice they slipped a onion ring in there. It's the little things, anyway I digress. The reason it caught me by surprise was because it's located in a small strip mall but that's what I get for judging a book by it's cover. Shame on you Lauren. No lie I drove by this place no less than 50 times, and finally stopped after I read the great Yelp reviews. Once again Yelp didn't let me down. I walked in on a Friday night and they had business BOOMING, I called ahead of time and still had to wait 15 minutes. Some people look at this as a a bad thing, I look at it like this...if their that busy that means the food is going to be worth it more times then not. You ever order moo shy pork and it just has a hint of piss? This one doesn't. It's good. The plum sauce. Good. Gen Tso's? Yep can't go wrong there. They're open later than most places around here. WOW. Can't believe I haven't tried this place yet, but the great Yelp reviews made me decide to try it. My husband had four rolls (Spider, Sweet Potato, Avocado Mango, and Amazing Oyster) and they were all fresh, delicious, and gorgeously presented. I had the Spicy Shrimp sushi burrito and it was everything I hoped it would be. All the fresh ingredients together with tempura crumbles were amazing and something I would love to get again. My only recommendation for this place-- find out if your ingredients are gluten free. I would love to bring my daughter here for sushi but she has celiac disease and I have to make sure everything is gluten free. I have asked twice, two different employees, and no one seems to know for sure. To be gluten free you have to make sure all your ingredients are gluten free (rice vinegar, nori sheets, etc), and prepare gluten free items in a separate, clean work space, free of wheat soy sauce, tempura crumbles, etc. Hopefully they can make this happen, as truly great (and reasonably priced) sushi can be tough to find, plus their location is so convenient. This place is local to me. I haven't had a chance to eat inside but I've had delivery a few times. Good selection tastes great fair price and faster delivery than most other places near by.
