Good Americanized Thai, with a wonderful family running the show. They've been in AH for decades, and have a strong following from the locals. If you like it spicy, they can definitely turn up the volume for ya, but flavors across the menu are just right if you don't want the heat. We were seated right away, given menus and water - by a smiling, friendly server. The restaurant was bright and everything was nice and clean. We ordered the veggie wraps that came with a tasty peanut sauce and they were fresh and crisp. The "special" was the crispy chicken which two of us ordered. So very good. Amazing sauce with a few chunks of pineapple and it came with steamed rice. (An option is to have it served in a pineapple shell.) We also ordered the pad see eew which, sadly, was very disappointing as it was primarily veggies with only an occasional chopped piece of noodle. Since it was a noodle dish it was crazy that there was probably a total of two chopped(!) wide flat noodles. Our server said they pre-portion it and we could add a side of noodles if we wanted more. Uh, no. We just had her take it back. We have ordered pad see eew many times at restaurants all over the US and never had such a tiny amount of noodles! My friend and I drove to Airway Heights to try out Sala Thai. This restaurant wasn't on our original list of places to try, but when I saw them post one of their dishes on Facebook, I immediately sent it to my friend and we both agreed we were going there next! Next happened to be last night. What we ordered was what they call "Happy Boat" with Salmon, Shrimp, and Scallops (extra shrimp for my friend and no scallops). Let me say that it was sensational and we were both very happy we were able to try it. It does come with a side of jasmine rice (not pictured). The service was great and they even offered my friend a Diet Coke to go when we were getting ready to leave. Restaurant was clean, even the restrooms. They do close fairly early though, which does make it difficult for those that like to dine later (7:30 Tuesday thru Saturday) and are closed Sundays and Mondays. read more

Quiet restaurant outside of downtown Spokane and the food is pretty good, definitely somewhere I'd eat again. Ordered the Yellow Curry 0 spice and although it wasn't my favorite it's still much better than many I've had. There was a particular taste I couldn't quite pin down with the curry but all the veggies and meat were cooked perfectly. Opted for no spice as the nice waiter told me they use authentic Thai chilis so 1 star will still be VERY hot (I didn't want to risk it). The spring roll was also nothing special but tasted fresh and was a nice refreshing snack. Thai iced tea was pretty normal and nothing special to it. I would go back and try other dishes though. PS if you want Yellow Curry during lunch, just ask for it since it's on the dinner menu but not the lunch menu. read more

They use ketchup in their pad Thai so this is in no way authentic Thai. Tom yum noodles missing lots of authentic Thai ingredients and was simply sour. Plus, our meals came with free tickets to the nearest toilet. read more

Came in for a take out lunch order. I had never had Thai so I asked for a suggestion for something close to teriyaki. The host said fried noodles would be close. I gave my other orders. When I received the bill I was charged a take out fee and it wasn't much however seems odd to charge someone a surcharge for takeout. I did choose not to tip after paying the fee. They are always so good, so fresh, so spicy, and always good service. A few of the dishes are so far above and beyond it has raised the bar entirely. The food was good, the Panang Curry was AMAZING! I'm a white guy and was disappointed in their idea of the spice levels. They did nothing but confuse me. So they say, their level 1 is a medium; so stick to level one. (1) I did NOT find that to be true in ALL the meals. The Panang Curry was a perfect spice level. Sadly the Spicy Summer although a decent dish lacked flavor and little to NO spice! It did taste good with Panang Curry poured all over it! But we wanted variety. And lastly, the Siam Crispy Chicken, served in the pineapple bowl, although an amazing photo it was swimming in a sugary overly sweet sauce, something similar to an orange chicken at Panda Express. I was most disappointed especially since that's on their menu photos and it came highly recommended from someone who had eaten it before. The service was great. The male waiter who's name I have forgotten was excellent, he was prompt and patient with us, he did provide recommendations. We commonly eat Thai food elsewhere and I'm still confused why they stick to the one is medium script at this location. The ambiance is quaint. I was surprised, the outside of the location didn't blow me away and gave me some slight concern, it's also very simple inside. Not gaudy or amazingly elegant. Simple would be my best description. I would give this restaurant another chance but I would definitely ask for a 2 or possibly a 3 for my spice level in certain dishes. by far, hands down the best thai food in washington! better than bai tong in tukwila! the BEST i have experienced this far. i can't believe this food was as good as it was. i appreciated my entire experience here it was definitely one of a kind! this restaurant keeps in deep touch with their thai roots. they use authentic thai spices that honestly are too spicy for me but i admired how they didn't cater to typical american taste buds. this made me appreciate the authenticity. i ordered the panang curry, which i've had before but having it with the authentic thai spices made me have such a memorable experience. i got 1/5 stars because the 1 was still hot but since they use thai spices, the spice was magnified. my curry was creamy, hearty & blazing hot. it came with a bed of rice. i also ordered a thai iced tea which was in a pretty huge cup but the tea to cream ratio was just how i liked it! overall i believe this is the best thai restaurant in washington because of the authenticity & because of the wonderful service. doesn't seem too americanized & true to their thai roots! i will make a trip back to spokane JUST for this thai food! so glad i tried this place out, as it is my most memorable thai food experience :) read more

We are in town on a work trip and kind of randomly chose Sala Thai for dinner. Our server Jordan, was exceptional from the beer list to the menu to answering our questions about Thai etiquette. Honestly, this place has been such a hit or miss for us. Tonight we ordered 4 dishes. The panang curry snd the basil fried rice were good, but the pad Thai and tom kha soup were so bad I couldn't give a higher rating. The soup just tasted like milk. There's no way it simmered long enough and id even venture to say it's missing ingredients. The pad Thai tastes like straight vinegar. You can't taste peanut, you can't taste spice, just vinegar. Best Thai in town! They know how to season rice! Which isn't so common in Spokane. Can't go wrong with the phai thai of course, but I'd say, "be daring". They have good flavor nitches with exploring. I got a recommendation from the lady at the check in at lodging and great reviews from Yelp. Sala Thai is awesome. The interior is comfortable yet clean and not a dive. There is parking out front and there were two servers so the service was faster than I expected after reading about other people's experiences. The Tom Kha Gai soup was yummy and a larger bowl for $5. I loved all the vegetables that they added. I don't believe we need to add any heat to Tom Kha Gai. I usually go for the noodles but it was a chilly curry kind of day. The Yellow Curry and Panang Curry are great. My friend likes hot and ordered #2 but admitted next time #3 should be good. I'm rating this a one star. This was our first time here. Nicholas R was our sever. As we where ordering, he appeared to be annoyed we where asking questions about the menu. I ordered a Beef Pad Thai with 4 level spice. Every where I go I order a spice (4) as I like spicy foods. When my cousin got his meal it tasted completely burnt. Like a burnt dish taste. We asked Nicholas if there was any way they can remake it. And his response was very dismissive and staunched. We where very polite, explaining it just had a burnt taste to it. They then brought my food out as I ordered the Pad Thai and could not eat it because it was no where near a 4. It tasted like it was a 10! Again, I order 4 every other Pad Thai. The people next to us ordered a spice one, as he claimed the 1 was extremely spicy for him. The other person we where with ordered curry, which was good. We felt bad already complaining about the burnt taste in the rice. When I told our server Nicholas R about the spice level and would of been nice if he would have warned us, or suggested about their spices. Mid conversation he walked away from our table as I was still talking to him. I mentioned to another server that passed and she stated there are signs everywhere! I asked her where are the signs at?! And she pointed to the table with a maybe 2/4 small sign saying their spice level. Again I'm a spice lover, and order a 4 every other place. They then charged us extra on pad Thai. As it says 17 dollars, and added additional 2 dollars for beef it said. However, on the menu it doesn't say extra for choice of meat. The service was extremely horrible and I wouldn't recommend going here. Extremely rude service! And took 2 bites of my Pad Thai. It's common sense if the spices are "extra" at this location, servers should explain and actually engage with customers, instead of being completely dismissive and rude. read more
