We've gotten take out from here a few times and it's been okay but nothing to rave about. The entree portions are pretty big but the prices seem to match. Entrees are about $20 which seems high -also considering that many don't come with rice so you have to order that as a side. On one particular trip I ordered a half order of spring rolls as an appetizer for $8 and couldn't believe it when I opened the box. Again, taste was just average. Awesome new digs! The new building on the South Hill is spectacular! Really awesome patio too where they can open it up more or keep it with just a bit of breeze blowing thru. Winter? They have heaters! Nice big parking lot. This is such an upgrade from the last place. If you haven't been here yet, it's worth it. Also, join their loyalty program! Apparently I did last time, and since it is my birthday month, they took $10 off--win-win!! I should have taken more photos of the inside, but I was too busy gawking. So, just go see it for yourself. Never visited the smaller location near Regal but decided to drop in for dinner at the new larger location. What a good idea that turned out to be! We were seated in the tiki bar and fell in love with the decor. If I owned this place, it would be open till late with live entertainment, it has the feeling of a real lounge. However, as a restaurant it fits the bill. We ordered Thai staples: tom kha gai, lad na, pad thai and panang beef curry. All were well prepared and generously portioned. Both bar and food service were timely and professional. I typically treat Thai food as a takeout item, but we've dined in a couple times now. A very nice addition on the South Hill. read more

Favorite dishes are anything with prawns (so many prawns and perfectly cooked), the lunch specials for a deal, dinner specials with all the appetizers, noodle dishes. When I first moved to Spokane in 2016, I would often visit the northside location of Thai bamboo. Last four or five years, the quality of the food at every Thai bamboo location has declined and the prices have gone up more than other Thai restaurants in the area. In my opinion, they have the worst pad Thai in Spokane. at best it has mediocre flavor and at worst they are dry and clearly batch made ahead of time and stored poorly. service is always fine as well as decor, and the drinks and appetizers are good. it makes me sad that there is no longer good quality food at Thai bamboo, and I hope that they are able to solve whatever problems are going on and become a good place to eat again. In the meantime, I will be eating my Thai food elsewhere :/ read more

This is absolutely the worst restaurant on the South Hill!! The food as has no flavor and it takes the kitchen all daaamn day to get the food cooked to order and when is does arrive its cold. The service is a cold as the food and will ignore you. I've been here twice now the second time I walked out after 40 minutes of waiting after I ordered my meal not once was I ever acknowledged by the serving staff. To put a pickle on top of this sh*t sandwich the bathrooms were an absolute wreck!! Toilet paper thrown about urine over every toilet!! Day one of Spokane restaurant week 2020. We decided to start with this restaurant because we wanted something ethnic with some zest. The $22 price tag seems reasonable for a three-course meal. Even though they were supposed to have a rotating local beer, they only had a couple of choices from the menu. Nothing local, very few beers in a bottle and so I was reduced to ordering cider. Not the best recommendation for the start of restaurant week. The food, however, was excellent. The Thai ribs were spicy and had a lot of meat on them. The coconut curry, no meat in this one, was full of mostly squash. The flavor was just right with a spicyness of 4. We received a very generous portion and so we actually had some left over to take home. The bananas in wonton wraps were very pleasant and a nice way to end the meal. Parking for a few cars is around the back of the restaurant. The decor here is great and they have carefully hidden the outside world with clever use of foliage. Definitely worth another visit. I just hope they have a few more beer choices next time. read more

This is my favorite Thai place in Spokane. I've been coming here for years. I've tried other Thai places and they are good but not as good as I've found here. I love me some Phad Thai so that's what I usually order. However their Drunken Noodles, Dark Curry, Yellow Curry, and Green Curry are just as delicious. You can't go wrong with any of the appetizers and the Thai Iced Tea is the bomb! I love eating there but they now have food delivery with Uber Eats or you can order online and pick up. First off the decor is incredible, I love the changing sky in the dining room. Not a fan of all the tiki stuff though, cheapens the overall vibe. The service here has been absolutely the worst every time I've tried it. Super long wait time for every single thing, I even had to hunt my server down to take our order. Seriously the WORST both times I came. The food has good flavor, rich sauces and I've enjoyed the dishes I've had. My biggest complaint is that you have to pay EXTRA for rice?!?!? WTF?? The entrees are priced high to start and you charge extra for rice? I'm just supposed to eat the Kung pao by itself? I feel like this restaurant belongs in a super touristy location, maybe a beach on a Cycladic island or something, that doesn't require a lot of authenticity to fulfill the Thai need. The food is probably good if you haven't had good Thai food before. The menu also has lot of general Asian-style food (including bulgolgi??) and you can get a margarita to go with your ok curry if that's what you want. I'll second a previous reviewer - the pad Thai (according to the menu, their most popular item) comes with super chopped up noodles, cabbage, and carrots. No bean sprouts, lime, or anything else. I ordered tofu green curry (my dining partner got the pad Thai) and it took a pretty long time to come out, and had chicken instead of tofu. This was fine for me since I eat meat, but it's not fine for a lot of people. The wait was long enough that I didn't want to send it back. It tasted ok, nothing special. Their drinks (we got mango lemonade and sangria) include a lot of fruit that's too large for their narrow straws so it keeps getting stuck. Maybe cut it bigger so that's not a problem or provide bigger straws? read more

We ordered two meals over the phone, picked them up and brought home. We sat down at the dinner table with our to go Thai food and they didn't put rice in our bag. I proceed to call the restaurant and they say that rice does not come with meals. You have to ask for it in addition to your meal. Stopped in on a mildly busy day to order takeout. Was told it would be 20 minutes, maybe 30. Not a problem. After 50 minutes I asked about my order. The waitress said, "yeah it seems like you've been here a while, I've seen you sitting here." She checks on the order and 15 minutes later I finally get my order - 65 minutes after I ordered and 25 minutes later than the latest time I was told my order would be ready. Portions have been downsized in the last year and food quality is down. There are a number of better Thai restaurants in the area. In fact, try any Thai restaurant in the area other than Thai Bamboo and you'll no doubt find better food and service. read more

We ordered through Door Dash. We've never used that delivery service but had a coupon we needed to take advantage of. We ordered Gang Panang Curry and Pad Kee Mao (Noodles & Rice). Both were very good and tasty and fed 3 people with leftovers. What amazed us though was how quickly we got the order at our door!! A local area institution when it comes to Americanized Thai Food, Thai Bamboo is always a solid choice. The food quality is consistent and you get a large amount of food for your money This location is decked out with bamboo panel walls, wooden and stone carving art and mood lighting abounds. I like Thai Bamboo for lunch most especially. It's a simple lunch special menu, but it's all well done. The spice level varies from cook to cook. I have had 2 stars be pretty mellow to super hot here, so I would say order conservatively and you can always add more heat from the spice tray. read more

The fact that we had wonderful service here generated more than 1 star. I wish we remembered her name, she waited on us at lunch today, was from LA and super sweet. If we ever came back (and it's doubtful) we would ask for her section. The food. Can you even call it Thai food? It was mediocre at best. Our greens in our pre-entree salads were wilted (do they just make a big bowl of it and let it sit all afternoon?). The cashew nut chicken was and the panang curry needed salt. The pad Thai noodles were just the noodles, no veg or lime. My daughter, bless her heart, ordered the "Mongolian Beef". Traditionally a dish with peppers, onions , cellophane noodles and sautéed beef the meal consisted of inexplicably deep fried beef. We should have run and hightailed it to the south hill grill (which ironically serves AA+ sushi in addition to an array of diverse dishes) when we saw the Chinese dish at a Thai restaurant. So now I'm going to sound like an a-hole Californian when I say--coming from the Bay Area-- we know and love some good Asian food. You might like Thai Bamboo. Chances are it's the only Thai food you've ever had. Maybe you like their happy hour (it does have a tiki lounge vibe). Awesome! Have some drinks and when you wake up and need some hangover food do yourself a favor and go somewhere (anywhere) else. Came here when another Thai place was closed. The building, decor, etc is pretty impressive and stunning. It's obvious tons of money we're spend on it. Server is nice. The food, disappointing. Pad see ew and pad Thai were too sweet. The noodles for the pad see ew were still clumped together. Green curry was too salty and not sweet enough. Even the Thai ice tea was bad, waaay too sweet. I asked for more milk or 50/50 to dilute it and it's still too sweet. I've eaten plenty of Thai food, including in Thailand and this place just doesn't cut it. read more

I love spicy food, but in a scale of 1-5 SO GLAD I asked for "3." Perfect for me. I had red curry. Great vegetables. And enough rice to soak up all the curry. This is in a very busy shopping mall. Forget about parking an RV here. No way. No where even close to park an RV. Oh yeah. When you come in and sit down, the menus are already on the table. Summary: Horrible service, one inedible dish and one dish of shredded chicked with carrots and green beans. The food: lukewarm cashew chicken was nice, but there were only four or five cashews in the enire box, the chicken is cut so thin it is shredded and the only vegetables were green beans and carrots. I would never order the mongolian beef, AS IF I ever go back. There were two batches of beef in the box; one of which had dried out to the point of beef jerky. They were noticably darker than the other pieces of beef and WERE ABSOLUTELY INEDIBLE. The vegetables with the beef jerky were great. Once I got to a piece of jerky, I threw the meal away for fear of food contamination. The tiny potsticker meat was good but encased in a very thin hard fried coating that made the tiny piece of meat inside rattle around. No joke, two of six were actual rattles. Fried wonton wrapper and meat peas substituting as potstickers... The staff: They had a lot of staff, but they do not work as a cohesive group and the front desk was a mess last night. I waited for four groups to be seated. It took a very long time to get so few customers seated bc the poorly trained staff members did not look at what tables were available when they seated people. Instead, they kept running to the back to find tables. Hint: write down how many are in each party, go look at your dining room, then effiently seat the customers. One of the two of you could have handled the front if you had any training. I requested a to-go menu and I was given a dinner menu that said "Dine In Only". Again, poor training. The ordering process was clumbsy at best with several items being out of stock. I was told food deliveries were on Monday's, so I knew I would eating week old or previously frozen food...I was told a half hour wait "if you want to leave and come back". I came back in 20 min and had to ask three different people if my order was ready bc the first two did nothing but look at each other blankly in a "how do I find a to-go order" stare down. Thai Bamboo catered a family event for us a few weeks ago. The food was prepared on time, expertly packaged and was absolutely delicious. Along with the excellent food they also provided the plates, silverware, serving utensils and napkins! All our guests enjoyed every bite. I was impressed! This place just opened but you can tell they brought their experience over from the north store. The food was great and steaming hot! Josh was our server and was fantastic, going the extra mile serving with humor and personality. I hadn't eaten yet so unfortunately I didn't get any pics, I was starving. The yellow curry was very good and I had the chicken lo mein. My one miniscule thing is I did order a 5 spiciness level and received maybe a 3. Seems common, if you don't tell the server you want to absolutely be burning, the chef tends to go light on the sauce. No biggie, the noodles were still great. The South Hill location must have clueless manager/owner, they let their employees park their junk cars along South Lee St when there are literally over 100 spaces available in the complex (they can't walk an extra 100 feet?).
