Extremely disappointing, and overpriced. My husband and I went here once several years ago, back when it had the previous owners. It was so amazingly delicious, we always wanted to go back, but then it closed down. When we were in the Deer Park area again and saw the restaurant had reopened, we were very excited to go here for our anniversary. Unfortunately, that excitement quickly turned into a series of letdowns. When we went in March 2026 on a Saturday evening, we arrived to discover that the place is really only set up for takeout at the moment. I did hear the owner say to someone that they were going to offer proper dine-in starting in May. But anyway, she said that we could eat there that night since they weren't busy, and there are some tables set up. However, she said, we needed to order at the register or on our phone, and the food would be in takeout boxes and we'd need to pick it up from the counter. Well, seeing as we'd decided to drive 15 minutes north to Deer Park rather than 15 minutes south to A Taste of Thai in Spokane (or even Kuni's), we decided to stick it out there. The menu was pretty small, and the _only_ thing to drink is Thai tea. We ordered chicken pad thai and shrimp pineapple curry. Not long after ordering, they came to let us know that they were out of Thai tea, and I had actually really been looking forward to that, so it was disappointing. About 10 minutes later, they said actually they think they could make it work and I could still have my tea. Then our food came, and the curry was in one container and the rice in another, so I had to ask for something else to eat it from, and they brought me a bowl. There was only about half as much rice as curry, so it was a very soupy meal. The food was not that good. I, a Caucasian American using Thai Kitchen curry paste and a can of coconut milk and canned pineapple, could have made the curry in my own kitchen (and yes, theirs really did have canned pineapple, and overcooked shrimp - one of which still had some shell on it). The pad thai barely had any chicken in it, and it tasted like it had peanut sauce added. Also, parts of the dish were burned. Additionally, every entree was $19, or more if you picked one of the more expensive proteins. We will not be back. A Taste of Thai is an amazingly delicious family restaurant in north Spokane, and has always been great every time I've been. And even Kuni's, which I find hit-or-miss and pricey, is better. The next time we want Thai food, we'll be going to A Taste of Thai. read more

Ordered a takeout feast for my birthday dinner with family this past weekend from TG and let. me. tell you... it was the highlight of my day. We ordered the Beef Panang Curry, Chicken Panang Curry, Tom Kha, Pad Thai, and Fried Rice along with a few sides of white rice, sauces, etc. Everything was perfect.Like, actually perfect. I'm sometimes leery of ordering proteins with takeout bc you never know what you're going to get, but there was not a single "gross" (you know what I mean) piece of chicken, beef or pork. We had leftovers for the next day as well, which was heavenly. The best part though? They not only wrote this (*see pic), but they also threw in a golden candle and came out of the kitchen to wish me a happy birthday! Like, what?! They were genuinely excited and so very kind and upbeat. This was just getting into a busy time for them on a Friday night btw. That little act of kindness and going above and beyond truly made my whole day. And the food, heat levels, etc satisfied the whole fam. I highly recommend giving them a try if you haven't yet. I was so excited for Thai Garden to open back up. When it originally was operating, it had the best Thai food I had ever had. Yesterday my family decided to order take out. The menu was disappointing, there are only a handful of traditional Thai dishes. We were flabbergasted at the price and then the quality, overpriced and cheaply made. Finally I ordered Thai Tea and it tasted a little off (and was half the size it used to be and the cup was full to the top with ice) but I drank it anyway. I ended up with food poisoning, as I was the only one that drank the tea I think it was a likely culprit. I so want to love this place but it was definitely disappointing. They need better quality and selection if they're going to charge such exorbitant prices. They probably should also keep a better eye on their expiration dates. read more

The wait is over! This place was closed for quite a while and has a new owner. It is, so far, open only for takeout. Everything I've tried is perfection! Make sure you pick the level of spice. Open for take out only! I had the Pad Thai, delicious! I asked for #3 hot and it was perfect for me. Just a little burn on the lips. We also had the orange chicken also delicious and the shrimp fried rice, bomb. Now this I asked for #3 hot also. Big burn on lips more like a 4 but boy was it delicious!!! All those spices get you addicted to the heat. You want more and more! Sooooo good most places are so bland on the spice these guys pay attention to what you want. I'm glad they ask how spicy you want it. I be back often!!!! read more

I like this place! With Thai food I am not easily impressed but this family business really got it right! They know they are catering to a farm community and that there are not many refined palates but the hit the ball out of the park on EVERY dish! I'm not sure how they cook on a restaurant scale and still manage to get that perfect 'just from grandma's kitchen...(in Thailand!)' taste in every dish but they DO! I'm a huge fan of the green curry! You just can't beat it (even if you drive to the city!). The staff is quite pleasant but very reserved. Not 'wallflowers' but they are all about the business of running a tight ship. And that's just fine with me! As long as the food is THIS GOOD! I will be fine with no song and dance or waitress remembering my name or 'favorite table'...that doesn't matter...at my age it's about the food! You can call in your order and swing by and take it to go, if you want to surprise you family with GREAT food or have a romantic night in with your wife...THIS is the place to pick up a STUNNING Thai meal on the way home. Still the best Thai food around! I could drink a gallon of Thai iced tea; the large slices of bbq pork are incredibly moist, both the Tom Yum & Tom Kha are luscious bowls of deliciousness & the perfect medicine for my 3 week old cold. We stopped by this place on the recommendation of a family friend. Service was very good, with the chef coming out to greet us and make recommendations. The owner was also there and stopped by a few times to make sure everything was satisfactory. Our dishes: Shrimp in Tamarind Sauce, Pad Thai, Thom Ka Gai soup, Cashew Chicken, and Purple Sweet Rice for dessert. The Shrimp in Tamarind sauce was the favorite dish of the meal. The Pad Thai was different than what I've had at other places (heavier on the peanut butter, lighter on the fish sauce) but I liked this variation and we cleaned the plate. The sweet rice was a great way to finish off the meal, but be warned: when they say sweet, they mean SWEET! Probably one of the best Thai food I've ever had. I ordered red curry and my friend ordered Pad Thai. Both of them are so yummy and good portions. This Thai restaurant is one of the best I've ever been to and it's hidden away in Deer Park! It's quite the quaint location but always clean and welcoming. The owner's wife is the cook and she's amazing! The staff consistently have great recommendations, so if you don't have a favorite, ask for theirs! That's how I discovered Tom Kha Gai (Chicken Coconut Soup) and it's my absolute favorite. Refreshing with a strong flavor of coconut it's filling and there's always some leftover! (Unless you share, but who really wants to do that? ) So if you're up north and looking for a great local spot, please stop here! Hmmm....I believe one reviewer said this is up there with places he's eaten in LA and San Francisco?? I'm not sure I could even concur with that statement. I judge a Thai place on its pad thai and this ain't doin it. I even stopped eating it just to write this review. All I can taste is peanuts. No other flavors or anything. It is just mushy noodles drenched in peanut sauce. This might be a favorite for the locals because it's one of the only places to eat in town. I'm glad this is the first and last time I'll be eating here....not to mention the shredded piece of foil I found under a piece of pork. Yikes. The only redeeming quality is the staff. Amazing food! The egg rolls are to die for! My only reason for not giving it five stars is the price. The prices have gone up significantly over the last year. The owner blames it on the minimum wage hike and I actually think that's a valid reason. It's definitely hurt small businesses in town. Underwhelming experience. I like the Thai in Spokane better, but the service from the waitress was the biggest disappointment. She was unfriendly, took a very long time to bring us water and tea, and repeatedly confused our basic orders. The owner (I think) came to see how everything was, he was nice and genuinely concerned because the same waitress told him that my sister didn't eat a certain part of her meal, but it too invasive; she couldn't eat it because she wasn't feeling well due to a personal issue, and this confrontation embarrassed her. Before you ask people why they didn't eat something, consider that there may be a personal reason that they don't feel like broadcasting, or having attention brought to. We'll definitely just drive into Spokane for Thai. read more

We tried this restaurant for the first time yesterday evening. My husband ordered the chicken teriyaki and I had the pad chow mein. We both ordered the spice level of 1. When our food was served, my husband found that his was spicier than he likes. The owner noticed his reaction and, without being asked, had the chicken teriyaki remade at a spice level of 0. My sister and I were looking for lunch in Deer Park and decided to try out Thai Garden since her previous experiences with Thai food weren't terrific. We were blown away by the service, and the server was so friendly and helpful with the menu. She accommodated my niece with diabetes and advised us to only get 1 star of spice, letting us know that her kitchen makes it HOT and some folks even opt for zero spiciness level. She was right; the food was very spicy, but didn't take away from the flavor. The chicken pad Thai was delicious and I ate the entire plate. Authentic Thai in a small town... it doesn't get any better! We don't live in Deer Park, but this restaurant is well worth the drive. My husband and I recently moved from Seattle to the Spokane area and were looking for something fresh and authentic. This is it... we both loved everything we ordered. We started out splitting an order of wonton soup... it was the best we've had, and wonton soup is a favorite of ours. I wanted to try the Shrimp Tamarind, as I had seen it mentioned in another YELP review. It was wonderful. My husband ordered the sweet and sour pork, and it was also delicious Everything that the owner and head cook, Ci, uses in her dishes is fresh. We specifically asked about MSG, because my husband is sensitive to it. She assured us that she does not use MSG in her cooking. There is also a very nice wine list. I had a fantastic glass of Riesling that complimented my shrimp dish perfectly. Thank you for an outstanding dining experience and very friendly service. We'll be back! read more

Love this restaurant! It's definitely my go-to-when-i-am-lazy due to it being located in my very small town. My family LOVES the food, and i love the little bowl of soup they bring out before your meal comes. Best Thai food in Eastern Washington. Worth the 3hr drive. Lookup Thai food on Wikipedia, this place nails it! Attention to detail, taste, variety. My wife got the special- ginger curry with meatballs and greenbean. I had beef with broccoli (with 1 star spicy). The broccoli were chopped into small florets, the beef was exactly bite-sized. The fried rice and portion size was perfect. My wife's order had hand-made meatballs 3/4" size and delicious! Ordered 2 Desserts -- purple rice alamode and fried banana alamode. The purple rice was the best! Sweet and tasty. We met the chef and before we did the food spoke of her passion in authentic Thai cooking. I wish we lived closer. We'll be back on our next trip to Spokane area. ;-) read more
