In what has become the craziest week of my life, I needed a salad. Why? Because salad puts you in a good mood. I literally missed a likely 'Game Over' by less than one inch one week ago today. When that happens, you want salad. I wish I could tell you more about my week, but I can't. I will say I walked a few miles here (after popping some Tylenol/Advil) for two reasons. One is that getting in a car ain't easy rn! Anyway, I can tell you about the salad. And the bread! Let's start with the bread. Very fresh with quality butter--that's a good combo. The salad was also delicious. I think I made a mistake by mixing my salad with crispy chicken (grilled chicken next time) but I made the correct decision with Thousand Island dressing. Now that I think about it, are there ever exactly 1,000 islands of relish mixed with the mayo and ketchup? I assume it would be way lower. Maybe it should have been called 325 Island. For the salad, I got lettuce, tomato, cucumber, fresh red pepper, and red grapes. It was a quality and refreshing meal. And while the price is a little high for salad, the service was excellent. Stop what you are doing and go to Saladworks! Well, not right now because it's late on a Sunday and they're closed, but during business hours. On a recommendation from a friend in conjunction with my Mom having a doctor's appointment across the street, my sister and I brought our Mom here for a late lunch. Cool points: we scored a parking spot literally in front of the door (we got there around 2pm on a Friday), very friendly and helpful service, clean, delicious fresh food. Restaurant is located in the Rose Commons shopping center along with Harris Teeter. There's an outdoor patio with at least 5 tables with umbrellas. The menu consists of a variety of salad options, (although the menu said grains as well there was just a pasta as an option and it did not look whole grain). You have a choice of 5 toppings and there is an additional charge after that. They have a pick 2 option of a salad/soup, salad/sandwich or sandwich/soup combo. We all got the pick 2. I would say they are appropriate portion sizes which is a good thing to me. I don't eat a lot of meat so I was happy that there were no- meat options (vegetable soup and panini caprese sandwich). There are also individually packaged cookies, brownies and rice krispy-like treats. There are also bags of chips for sale. Denise made our sandwiches and was so helpful with my Mom who has limited mobility. I appreciated that there tables close to the door. You could tell she took pride in what she does. Jeremy fixed our salads and was very helpful walking us through the menu and how to order. We spent a total of $45 for all three of us and that included one brownie and additional toppings on the salad. Doesn't look like much when you walk or drive by, but when I finally visited I was impressed by the setup inside and the food. This is your typical salad bar, but they have a variety of prearranged combos or you can of course create your own. I find the salad and toppings to be fresh and I like the dressing. It's even better when a coupon arrives in the mail for use in the store. Prices are average as far as salad bars go, so $10-15 is what you'll spend. But if course the somewhat "healthier" options tend to run on the higher side of course. There are limited sides available as well as a variety of drink options. I really like Saladworks but my wife is not a fan. Of course on her diets, at one time she was eating Salads at least once a day for months and it that case, it would not be hard to dislike Salad. In my case, I love a good salad so long as it's not smothered in dressing. As a matter of fact, I'm preparing a Wilted Salad (sometimes called a Kilted Salad) for dinner tonight. Been here a couple of time and on the latest trip, I had the Roasted Turkey Club Salad. Very good and they did not skimp on the protein and the size was enormous. At first seemed a bit pricy but when you factored in the portion size, it was more than reasonable. My wife had the Cranberry "N Pecan Chicken Salad Sandwich. Portion size was also good and she did indicate that it was pretty good. Picky, Picky Bottom line is that I like it. As indicated, the food is good and creative while the service is somewhat minimal as it is designed to be. Not full service in that you order at the counter. I absolutely love this place! Unfortunately huntersville doesn't have many build your own bowl options but this place has that covered. They have over 50 toppings and 20 dressings so customize your perfect lunch or dinner. They also have great soups and grilled wraps! I love their green goddess dress and their apple vinaigrette! Although they do have many options for toppings and things of that sort, I just wasn't really moved by the selection and options. It is located in the Rose Commons shopping center on Gilead Road. So there are tons of establishments such as Harris Teeter supermarket, CVS, Atrium Urgent Care and many other restaurants and stores. There was a bit of a wait when I arrived, but I would assume that's due to A) good lunch crowd and B) potential staffing shortages. I do think it was well worth the wait! My boyfriend & I really love our salads. So our expectations are set pretty high. $10.49 for a full salad. $10.49 for you pick 2. My boyfriend got a full salad and had to ask for more greens. The portion of greens and protein are not worth $10. Salads at Panera bread are much better value for the price. I ordered you pick 2. Buffalo panini and I upgraded to a medium soup for $1. So I paid $11.49 total for mine. NOT WORTH IT. The panini would have been eaten in just 3 bites. I had to return it and instead, got a half salad. I just didn't see the half panini being worth the price. Especially when I know I can head over to Panera and their half-sized paninis are much larger. Anyways, the manager or owner told me to keep the soup and get whatever I wanted. I just went with a salad. He told his employee to make it a half salad. First of all, he should've made it a full salad for not being satisfied and realizing that what I ordered was not worth $11.49. He also tried to tell me I paid $9.49 for my purchase. I have been a major fan of Saladworks since my very first taste at the food court in the Echelon Mall in Voorhees, NJ when I was a preteen. I moved to Charlotte over nine years ago and have always said how there's never any good salad options down here and that I wanted to finish my degree and open a franchise of SW here in the CLT. Lo and behold, I was not the only person who felt our region was severely lacking in the dining options and brought Saladworks here! Visited today with my daughter, my mother, and my sister. Restaurant is new, very clean and warm and inviting. The staff was great too! Everyone was so super friendly. I got to talk with the owner and was able to thank him for bringing this amazing restaurant here! I ordered one of my favorites - the Sophie's salad. Spring mix base, grilled chicken, dried cranberries, bleu cheese, honey roasted pecans, and apple slices. One time, at a SW in Jersey, the server recommended I mix raspberry vinaigrette and the sesame dressings together on this salad and ever since then that is the only way to eat this salad. Best part is their create your own salad too. You can select from multiple bases, and over 60+ fresh toppings. Salad serving sizes are large as well! Any salad you can also get as a wrap!! And don't forget a nice warm roll to go with your delicious salad (or wrap)! Location is great too! Right off highway 77 at exit 23 for Gilead Road. It is practically right next to Harris Teeter. My boyfriend that one of the specialty salads- but I will say that he didn't get as nice of a size salad as I did. The kids meal was really good. We were so excited to have a salad place so close to home - we typically travel to Mooresville to Field of Greens or South Park to Chop't. We've been several times, we've tried giving several opportunities to improve. Salads: The portions are extremely small for the price (I don't mind paying for quality) and the ingredients aren't that fresh. Wilted greens, mushy veggies, etc. Wraps: Just as disappointing as the salads. Extremely overpriced for the amount of food you actually receive, little to no proteins added. Rolls: Heated to the point of toughness. Soup: Cold Service: The reason I even gave 2 stars. The service isn't terrible, just nothing outstanding or wonderful that stands out. I decided to build my own salad. The greens were plentiful but once you get to the toppings the employees are not as generous. It reminds me of the old Kinkos copy and print center where there are 10 people behind the counter making booklets or whatever and no one to actually serve you when they all see you standing there. Needless to say, the service here is not good. In my few visits there, I have stood waiting on the few people behind the counter to help me while they either talk with each other or are taking forever making a salad for an online order. Once they do come to help, they try and rush you along when there are like 500 options to add to your salad or wrap. It takes a minute to look it all over as they make it! Lastly, the salads and wraps are overpriced and the quality is inconsistent. I ordered a chicken wrap from one young lady and it was made fairly well- meaning it didn't fall apart or explode when trying to eat it. The second time I ordered the same thing from a different young lady and it was made poorly. It fell apart and became a mess. It was basically a salad with a wet wrap pieces dispersed in it. I have been wanting to try this place for a long time and was just now able to check it out recently. The experience was so good and with the staff being very attentive and quick paced. Everyone is constantly working and not standing around or on their phone like other establishments in the area. The manager on duty, Savannah obviously runs a tight ship and keeps her associates engaged and busy while still providing great guest service. Disappointing first visit, to say the least. Ordering - 2 stars out of 5: After trying to order using the app and encountering numerous issues with it, I switched to the actual website which worked, just not very well. I also had several problems simply getting registered as a user. Frustrating process. I managed to get an order in at 11:10am set for an 11:30am pickup. Spoiler alert: I didn't walk out with my 2-item order until 11:49am. Pickup - 1 star out of 5: I arrived early at 11:20am with the idea of just getting a feel for the place. Very beautiful store! There was no line and nobody sitting down, just a few people waiting for pickup. I let them know I was there a bit early for an online order, and that's when the cashier took my ticket and gave it to another employee to start making. It's about 11:25am at this point. Reminder: I submitted this order 15 minutes prior. The employee sticks my ticket on the rack, and that's where it remained for the next 15 minutes. I asked the cashier about the status of my order at 11:30am (i.e., its promised pickup time) and again at 11:35am and she told me both times that it was being made when I could clearly see that it wasn't. From 11:25am to 11:40am, I watch about 4 or 5 walk-in customers proceed to enter, order, receive, and pay while my 11:10am order remains ignored. I look behind me and see two more people who are now sharing my pain as we watch one walk-in customer after another get in and out while we wait. At 11:45am, I get my two salads. Spoiler alert: they're not made correctly. Service and Accuracy - 2 stars out of 5: Of my two salads, a total of 3 things were wrong. On the first salad, the wrong dressing was included and it was missing an ingredient that was standard for that Signature salad. The cashier didn't notice it; I did. Her job is obviously to run the register and bag food. I saw no quality check or designated expediter. They fixed the errors promptly and with apology, though, but it's almost 11:50am when i walk out of the place. Unfortunately, I get home and notice on the other salad that an ingredient is missing, but too late for a fix there. I received a total of 6 "sorry's" in my time there, but it was a pretty empty apology with no incentive offered. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect freebies nor would I ask for one, but after the 5th "sorry", you'd think some consideration would be extended. It wasn't and that's fine, but its reflective of sincerity. Quality and taste - 2 stars out of 5: There was nothing special or truly outstanding from the food. I got the Buffalo Bleu salad (w/ ranch), but the buffalo chicken had absolutely no spice and not much flavor. To make it worse, I got maybe 1-1.5oz. of chicken. As a little experiment, I emptied the dressing onto the salad and put the chicken in the 2oz. cup - It didn't even fill that cup. The ranch tasted like standard foodservice ranch you'd get at a salad buffet - think Kraft or Ken's. Lettuce was crisp, tomatoes were kind of mushy. To boot, they throw in a previously frozen roll in the bag and a little cup of generic butter. Average at best. Value - 1 star out of 5: I paid just over $10.00 per salad for a slightly below average and under-portioned product that took 39 minutes to get despite ordering online ahead of time. I wish this place success, but it has a long, long way to go. I could go to Jason's Deli or Killington's and get a better, larger salad for less money and in less time.
