There are many different iterations of chicken salad and I would like to try all of them and I would if I lived closer. You order at the counter and they bring your items to your table. I noticed this place when it open nearby over a year ago, but I happened in here just last week. The Arnold Palmer I made was sweetened to tart, chilled perfection, and my order was complete so quickly I barely had time to note all the quaint pictures of Concord, North Carolina. I did notice that the place was immaculate. It's perfect for a casual sit down lunch. They even give you a yummy shortbread, iced cookie to finish your meal with a sweet touch. I love a good chicken salad, and Chicken Salad Chick has been on my radar for awhile. I ordered the Trio, which came with two scoops of chicken salad and a side. I went with a scoop of Classic Carol and a scoop of Lauryn's Lemon Basil with a side of pasta salad. Classic Carol is a solid regular chicken salad and I would have been just fine with it. Lauryn's Lemon Basil, however, is fantastic! I never would have thought to make it with basil, one of my favorite herbs, and man what a difference it makes! The flavor is bright with just a hint of lemon; not too overwhelming, it's just right and balances well with the basil. It's my new favorite twist on a classic. The pasta salad was good: a blend of tri-color rotini pasta tossed in a light dressing with artichoke, feta cheese, and black olives, generously seasoned. It also came with a quarter pickle spear and their signature wrapped cookie. Overall, Chicken Salad Chick is pretty great. Shame it took me so long to finally try it but I'm glad I did. They also offer their salads in sandwich form. My only criticism is the to-go container: styrofoam is a no-no.
