Very disappointed in the service they provide and the lack of commitment to customer satisfaction. We have purchased an RTV 1100 and a BX 23s. The Bx23s was delivered with low hydraulic fluid, coolant and a bad hood latch. The unit had a design flaw with the hood guard which was destroyed in the first 2 days and getting it warrantied was a joke. Eventually they did replace it , but not without argument. The new grille guard was immediately bent within minutes of use. I had to remove it all together due to the flaw, as the lack of clearance between the guard and loader made it impossible to have. They did nothing to investigate and remedy the issue. The unit was BRAND new. The RTV 1100 was in for a complete service as well as replacing door latch that was inoperable. When I received the unit back, the door closed but wouldn't open from the inside. After inspection it was found a roll pin was broke on interior door handle rod which caused the rod to jump over the door latch. Call them back as the door again would not latch closed. They claim the latch is bad and latch stud. They will not warranty the latch they replaced nor explain why the unit was returned to me without thoroughly inspecting the complete latching assembly. Here we are a week later and still no attempt to fix nor a phone call. I am now currently trying to find the parts online. I am totally in shock how thousands of dollars were spent there between the two units and after all the niceties leading up to a sale, once purchased you become dismissed and nickel and dimed . A warranty is exactly that , a warranty.... Meant to replace defective parts and or warranty your work. Three stars only.... The parts department is flawless and the parts team are very helpful. Took our push lawn mower in because it wouldn't start. Granted it was the beginning of lawn mower season but after two and a half weeks of nothing I called to find out oh yes we're going to look at it today. They determined it was the carburetor and then hosed us for $250 to replace it. Looking online a carburetor at most costs about 50 bucks. We got hosed. We loved the old Emericks because they were honest. We are done with the Salem. read more

Dropped my snowblower off one month ago for a cable and oil change .Called on it month later Someone told me someone would call me back. four calls later No one called me back .So I went there in person waiting to talk to someone. Another customer was waiting also He said he came in a month ago for tune up on his snow blower. He would call and no one would return his call. This was the Glen falls shop. I had the worst interaction with a company I've ever had. I'll preamble with a statement that my person to person interaction was not the issue. I had what I thought was a simple job. I had 2 lawn tractor tires that needed to be mounted. The job was to remove the old tire and Mont the new ones I gave to them. I was quoted at $18 per tire to mount them. I figured it was a 20 min job and that they could do it while I was there. The employee tells me probably in a day the job will be done and they will call me when to pick them up. Ok no problem. 3 days go by, no call. I call on the 4th day and leave a message. 2hrs no call back. I call again, someone from another area answers and can't help me out with my inquiry. He takes a message for the service department. Ok np. 2 more hours go by. I call again. The service department answers and almost immediately try and call me back later. OMG. well he puts me on hold to figure this out. 20 min later they tell me yeah "they are done and sitting on the floor behind me" OMG. I arrive at the store. They have a new system so it's taking a while to find my receipt. Np. Starts by saying I owe them $63. I said I thought it was a $18 per tire charge. He said it is but I guess this business charges 30 min labor time on top of the labor charge. I took the old tires with me, yet I was charged $6.50 disposal fee. OMG. I paid because I'm never doing business with them again I wouldn't say they are incompetent. They do a bait and switch. They charge for work not done. They do not have control of the jobs they are doing and have horrible customer communication. I do not recommend doing business with this company. read more

Been using Salem ( Columbia Tractor ) for years. I am just a home owner who shops here several times a year for supplies for my aging tractor. While I only spend between 20 - 100 dollars a visit the staff always treats me like I was a large operation and buying tons of equipment. If the parts counter or service area can not help they are fast to suggest alternate sources for parts. I am willing to pay slightly higher prices for their non OEM parts in the parts aisles knowing the quality will be better than the big box stores. read more

Salem Farm Supply purchased Columbia Tractor in Claverack NY, a repair service that I used for several years and was very satisfied with. I called in November and asked that the new company (Salem Farm Supply) pick up my Cadet Tractor and service it for the Winter. I was told that they would pick it up in a week when their trailer was picking up others. After 3 weeks I went to their shop and then they told me that they would pick it up the next day,which they did. The tractor was repaired and I received a bill for the service (which was higher than Columbia Tractor's) and a pick up and delivery charge of $255.20 . I live 15 minutes from the shop .The hours charged were 2.49. ( In prior years Columbia Tractor had charged me $60 when they picked the Cadet up.) When I called to discuss this a gentleman in the repair shop was understanding and told me that when John , the Service Manager, returned from being ill he would see what he could do to adjust the bill. I was told that my check would be held. That was in mid December. It is a month later, I never received a return call and my check was cashed today. I called and spoke to the gentleman whom I spoke to in December and he said that John said there was nothing he could do. I never received a telephone call,as promised. I won't be using this company again nor recommend it to others as I had Columbia Tractor. Not only is their pick up and delivery charge for a 15 minute drive exorbitant, their customer service practice is totally unprofessional. read more

we had a gator I had never had a problem with until after several years it needed a bit of work. We made the mistake of tsking it to Salem farm Supply. They told us after looking at it, they thought it was on its last leg and to open it and look at engine would be another $100 plus, but there was a used gator that would be better, They kept ours, and charged us $4k for a new one. It has never worked properly. The brakes didn;t work, brake fluid was leaking. they looked at it and supposedly fixed it. Still leaking. We finally took it elsewhere and had the brakes fixed. But the emergnecy brake never worked, At Salem i told them we have a hill farm and this is dangerous, they were totally unconcerned, This gator has been a nightmare- the seats weren;t bolted donw, the fenders were crack3ed, the ebrake never worked, the regular brakes didn;t work until we had to take it elsewhere to be fixed. and when I called the owner, she was totally ubncionverned and rude, as was the salesman. I have spoken to people since who have had similar problems and also cited their attitude and will never set foot there again. Now will I! read more
