We really enjoyed staying here this summer. It was our first time going seasonal and it was great. Well run operation, rules are politely enforced which is appreciated, the owners are easy to work with and talk to and we are coming back next year. Two pools and activities for kids and adults. Laundry facilities are spotless. Bathrooms are cleaned often. The campers we have met here are friendly also. Wow I was shocked reading the negative reviews! Me and my boyfriend came out here for his work & stayed at this campground for a month after having to unexpectedly leave (when we were supposed to be staying for the season) & there was no issues at all leaving early. If I could give more then 5 stars I would. The campground was awesome, very quiet, no issues at all. We were on a quiet dead end street which was perfect, our site was small & not too level which they told us in advance & were totally fine with it since we called at last minute but they also said after 4th of July weekend they would get us a better site. The staff is super nice it is a family run campground and we were staying at the site next to the owners son and his wife and kid and they were very nice and helpful. The son Chris even helped us install our water heater and went above and beyond to help with everything else we needed (& we had tons of questions due to this being the first camper we have ever owned) They have 2 pools that are big. Bingo every Friday. Tons of activities for kids! Dance parties. A snack bar. Hay rides & water hay rides for the hot days. There is a donkey and a goat you can pet. A snack bar, mini golf, awesome corn hole boards, 2 playgrounds and tons more. The bathrooms and showers are really nice. The electricity seemed high I did take a picture of the meter upon coming in but totally forgot to check it before we paid because we were in such a hurry but it definitely could have been right because there was some hot days where we had to run the AC. Other then that if you need WiFi it does not work good, which most people shouldn't need WiFi when camping but I work from home so it would have been helpful. Overall we had an AWESOME time & felt so welcome at this campground! We will definitely be back & recommend this campground to any one that is looking to camp in this area! read more

I don't enjoy giving bad reviews but feel everyone should be warned. It's probably a good idea to avoid the volatile owners of this campground. You can even see it demonstrated in their personal attacks on those leaving poor reviews. As far as the campground itself... it's mediocre at best. Definitely overpriced for the amenities available. I don't give poor reviews easily, but this campground just didn't measure up to others in the area that we have loved. We stayed there for one week and should have left after the first day or two. Very little going on, and hardly any campers that came in for the weekend (primarily all seasonals). Although most everyone was pleasant, it just felt like we were in "their" place. The hookups were odd also, we had to get an extension to a shared pole...weird. On the plus side, Salem Farms has 2 pools, small mini-golf and a petting zoo (goats) and is kept clean. Basically, too many options in central/eastern CT...we'll go elsewhere. read more

First time here and I didn't check my confirmation because they had the dates wrong, my fault, but when we got here they were really accommodating and we upgraded for a small price and stayed in the camper site with our tent so we had water and electricity which was a plus for us! Two pools, a donkey, 2 goats, horseshoes, boce, volleyball, bean bag toss, 2 playgrounds, and a lot of activities for everyone! Very clean grounds and bathrooms were clean as well! This campground is a great place to stay if you want to explore southern ct. very easy in and out with big sites and selection. Seasonal campers are easy to deal with (they leave you alone) and staff hosts lots of events throughout the season. read more

We go as much as we can and family is very nice and stop to talk all the time. Bathrooms are very clean and sites are provided with trash cans which they empty and sites are very spacious between campers. Not loud and crazy and over all no one bothers you. I bring my pup and never had an issue with him and another dog mixing while walking or on site. Don't go by reviews their not always the truth. read more

Yelp elite here. Just stayed here for a month. The campground was nice. They had 2 pools, laundry facility, large fields, a small petting farm, basketball court, tennis court and tiny mini golf. Plenty to do for children on the weekends, arts and crafts, trailer rides, field games etc. For adults they have bingo, comedy shows. From my review so far sounds like an awesome place to stay right? I wish I didn't have to say more, but I do. The owner Brian C. was the least friendliest human being I have ever met. I would wave to him on the property but he would never wave back, but I noticed him waving to most other campers. He also would tell select individuals to slow down but allow others to go 20mph over the speed limit collecting dust on the road. My boyfriend said "good morning" to him before having a discussion where he resumed to ask a question instead of acting like a decent person and say hello or good morning back. As we were packing up to leave he came over and started weed whacking underneath our brand new 2021 fifth wheel. You could tell this man doesn't like young, hard working, decent human beings. I read the response to one of the reviews on here and I wish I saw that before booking a whole month stay. His demeanor and attitude match his responses. The campground in general also has a lot of rules, some they don't enforce and some they don't follow themselves. For example, they allow children to walk pets alone, they allow children between the ages 10-21 in the pool that strictly states that no child between the ages 10-21 are allowed in the front pool. Majority of people who stay here are permanent residences. Hopefully my review will improve experiences for others. read more

I am shocked at some of the reviews but there are two sides to the story. I do know loud and obnoxious behavior will not be tolerated. I have stayed at this campground on a few occasions over the years and every time I leave disappointed. The facility is aging and no much for activities. no lake, fishing, or other camp attractions and not much for hiking trails. The pools were nice, but the seasonal people seem to constantly judge you. as well as the prices were a to high for what you get. internet was hardly working and would constantly disconnect, and definitely not streaming bandwidth. This place is my last resort if I cant get anything in the area. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. The management is beyond unprofessional. Make sure that if you ever get a seasonal site here, you check to make sure they haven't unplugged the electricity to your camper, spoiling all of your food. They will also not allow you to remove your camper until you pay the $40 electricity bill, even though you've only stayed twice during the season. I could go on and on about how terrible this place is, but just take my advice and save yourself the stress of dealing with these people. read more

I have never seasonal camped anywhere before and for this one being the first I would say it has made me an avid seasonal camper!!!! The staff is family owned and extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgable. They do not tolerate any misbehaving or foolishness that would be dangerous or ruin anyone's vacation. They have numerous things to do and activities scheduled every weekend. They have two pools, tennis courts, basket ball courts, a petting zoo and two playgrounds. The centrally located bathrooms are new and nice. The onsite laundry is nice and the walking trails are a great escape from reality. They are conveniently located about 25 min from Norwich, Hartford or New London in any direction. There are two big casinos not far from here and several shopping and activities. I would definitely recommend this camp ground to anyone and everyone. It is a must come to place if you are in the area!!!! read more

I've been camping my entire life. This campground was hands down the WORST camping experience I've ever had. The staff was rude, inconsiderate, and horribly inappropriate. Where camping should be relaxing and fun, this campground proved to be harassing and uncomfortable. Thank goodness there was a beautiful and fun campsite right down the road that saved our trip. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemies. If you're debating coming here, stop thinking about it and save yourself the time and money and head to the site down the road. read more

Too many drunks for us, they seem to be all seasonals who don't hold back when they get together on the weekends. We expressed our concerns to the staff working in the office who said they would have the owner stop by our site to speak with us but of course he never showed up. The two pools are clean but crowded, a third pool would help to eliminate some of the chaos. Actually the most interesting part of our stay was walking down the town road and exploring the dirt roads in the area. While doing so we had the chance to speak with some of the campgrounds neighbors who didn't have much good to say about the management, it seems they have had some ill encounters with the owners. We will visit the area again but won't stay here. read more

We really appreciate this campground for several reasons. It has everything that we value in a camping experience; wooded, rustic, roomy sites, cleanliness...TWO pools, activities and attentive staff. Most recently, we were there for July 4 weekend; people were enjoying themselves and having fun; the kids were able to decorate their bikes and be in a campground parade. People had their pets, enjoyed meeting others' pets while walking them and it was just a fun friendly atmosphere. We also appreciate that rules that are posted are enforced (yet not to the point of not being able to have fun) and the atmosphere is conducive to families. We had a problem with our camper and the owner himself took the time out to help us with it. We have been to this campground on several different occasions (5 or 6) and our experience has always been consistent. read more

I sit here looking to book my summer camping, and I take these reviews at face value. I book 3 stays every summer with Salem Farms (family 4 young children) I find it hard to believe this owner would not do anything. They run a tight ship clean friendly place. I was there in Oct. when they asked a few troublsum seasonals to leave so my guess would be those were your issues. Try their Ice cream shop,and kitchen yum! I wouldn't recommend this campground to anyone with pets or children. We were there over the weekend and the fees for everything are ridiculous. To start they had an arts and crafts project for the kids that were just coloring and gluing wooden sticks, they wanted .75 cents per child for that. They sold popcorn for movie night for another .75 cents, they had a game room and every game was .50 cents, sold ice cream for almost $3.00 a scoop and the scoop was so small it wasn't even worth it. Going with kids made this very expensive compared to other campgrounds. To top it all off their staff is very rude and disrespectful. Come to find out they have a 70 pound wait limit for their entire wooden playground. One staff member went up to one of our children and actually told him that he weighed too much to be on the playground making him upset. We went with children ages 3-9 and there was nothing that they could do without being charged for it or harassed by the employees that worked there. I'm extremely upset with all the childhood bullying that went on at this campground by the staff to the children. Especially with high statistics all over lately with children having depression issues from being bullied and made fun of. The staff used inconsiderate language in front of children and adults; they even admitted being sued 4 to 5 times a year because of their wooden playground. With all the extra fee's they charge you would think that they would have a playground that would allow more than 2-3 kids to be on at a time. They also have listed everywhere video surveillance and wear your bathing suit in the shower. This made me feel uncomfortable especially with kids in the bathrooms. We walked our dog on a leash and were told that he couldn't be on any grass in the campground that pets were only allowed on the roadways or your camp site. The campsite we were on wasn't level, was very hilly, and was all rocks with no grassy sections. This also wasn't great for kids to just have room to play or pets to relax. I wouldn't recommend this campground to anyone, we've been camping for years and this is by far the worst campground yet! read more
