I came here for the sale on Cantu and other textured hair care products. The deals were too good as I got all of this for less than $60, so it was a good time to stock up on products I know I love already. Four of the products were on clearance and they're from the Protective Styles line by Cantu. I purchased the Set & Refresh Foam and the Braiding and Twisting Gel for $4 each. The Hair Refresher spray and the daily oil drops were only $2 each. The most expensive thing I purchased was 30% off and by the brand Roux. I was enticed by the pink formula and reading keratin was in it, I figured why not! I hope its work matches my high hopes. I also got a freebie of a mini Biosilk Silk Therapy. I have the generic brand of Chi which I believe is similar, but this new freebie is definitely getting added to the travel bag. Service - good. It was slow and I was the only person in the store for some time just browsing. I was greeted and when I asked for help, I was shown where the foam rollers are. Sally Beauty Supplies reminds me of all the fun I had in high school and college with my friends as we would regularly go get supplies to dye our hair a new color every couple of months. It was great for 1 of my friends who at that time was also in school to become a Hairdresser/Cosmetologist. Stepping back into one of their chain stores brought back the nostalgia. Prices are still reasonable for retail shoppers like me, even if you don't have a cosmetology or beauty business license for their wholesale/industry prices. They still have sales/discounts on various products through the year. When I go here, I like buying the salon quality shampoo/conditioner in the bulk sizes for the value and to refill my shampoo/conditioner at home. I came here and they had the one product I wanted. I couldn't find it at the store closer to me. I was not greeted upon entry and two people who worked there were deep in conversation while one was restocking. I eventually asked for what I wanted and was shown the shelf. But there was no check-up. I placed what I wanted on the counter and eventually, the person who showed me the shelf bothered to come other and ring me up. I thanked her, but that was too long of a visit to pick up one simple thing. The woman who rang me up was totally nice, however, the conversations (and I remember having those when I did sales, but when no one was in the store) should stop once a customer or potential customer comes in. read more

I was in Alameda and dropped in since I was in the area. As soon as I walked through the door, I was greeted by one of two workers who were both behind the register. The one that didn't greet me was sitting down, proceeded to continue her conversation with the employee who greeted me, as I walked into one of the isles. I've been to this store a few times and I knew what I needed and where it was located. So I was able to grab my items quickly and went to pay. The employee who greeted me rang me up. The other employee remain seated during the entire time I was in the store. I was being cordial and asked them both what time the store would close (since it's Christmas Eve), and the one who was seated answered, as she was rolling her eyes at me.. Talk about customer service. Some days customer service would be ok, some days it would definitely be lacking. Unfortunately one rude inconsiderate worker can ruin it for the whole store. Normally the employees at this branch are super courteous and helpful with product information but this morning was not the case. My dtr came home crying and without the specialized product she was seeking because of the rudeness of one employee. My dtr waited in the parking area for the store to open when the employee parked and went into the store after the 10:00 am scheduled store opening. The employee was late to her shift. So my dtr waited a few minutes to allow her to get settled. When my dtr pulled open the door the worker scolded her accusingly " I don't know why you did that ( referring to opening the store door) because we are closed. You forced the door open" Another employee who seemed to advocate for my dtr's situation had followed my dtr into the store then exclaimed to the first employee " You guys are supposed to be open , your f----ing late." To which the first employee replied that she still had to do various things to open the store as she was getting the register ready. My dtr felt so humiliated that she turned around and left without buying anything. Its one thing to have a late or slow morning but don't take whatever you are going through out on an innocent customer with rudeness. Instead you could have said " sorry Im running a few minutes behind but you can wait or look around while I get set up here" or something similar. read more

Just stopped in to pick up some hair oil and polish remover for my mom who was waiting in my car. I asked the counter chick where the hair oil was located. She responded that she wouldn't know because "it's not for my hair type". I said, "Repeat that please". She complied. I told her that I am uncertain how that relates to the question. She tried to explain but I wasn't having it. I told her to learn her role, the store, the merchandise and the customer. I walked in at 5:45 pm last Thursday. There were 3 woman gossiping at the registers. I not dare interrupt their convo. After walking the isles twice, I asked one of the gals where I can find a product, and the look I got for interrupting, was "how dare I". I found what I needed. The price rung up at the register was far off from the price on the shelf. I said: that's not right. The fake long dirty blond haired woman playing manager standing by me, overheard and said; show me where you got it. She then said: that price on the shelf is wrong. The cashier asked if if I still wanted the item. I said no thank you. Then I asked if she would honor the price it's marked. (Most establishments do). The crazy lady said no way, and started yelling at me, saying she worked on pricing all day. I said its not my problem your item was mis-marked. She continued to whine and yell at me. I said forget it, and started to walk out and she yelled "IT IS YOUR PROBLEM". My husband and I looked at each other in dis-belief, Here I am, A disabled woman, hobbling around on a walker, and being chased out of the store by this uncontrollable crazy person yelling at me. I hobbled back in, looked at the 2 cashiers, their heads were down and they would not acknowledge me. I wanted a business card. I didn't get one. While walking back out, The freaky lady started coming towards me again, still yelling uncontrollably, about all day pricing. I left empty handed, laughing at that crazy bitch. This is a nice, small Sally's with a better selection of some things, like hair colors, than others, like false eyelashes and nail polishes. It's a little tight but everything is very well organized and easy to find. I needed some Wella T18 toner in a pinch and didn't have time to order my usual semi-bulk amount, so I hopped on the bus to Alameda. Having white as snow hair for a great price is well worth the excursion. The store was pretty busy and it seemed like there was only one employee but he was getting through the line quickly. I found exactly what I needed and at check-out, he reminded me that the toner was still buy-one-get-one-free. Fantastic! He asked if I'd like to renew my club card as it had expired, and I told him I wasn't sure since this store is so far from me in Emeryville - well apparently they just opened a new Sally's next to the ULTA on 40th and Emery! Lowkey wishing I hadn't made this long trip BUT happy for future knowledge. Thank you to this employee for letting me know! UNBELIEVABLY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE Zero star is what she deserved. I walked in to get a couple of items. The sales clerk (only person working at the time) saw me walking towards the cash register ready to pay, but she started helping another customer who needed her help. I patiently waited at the cash register for a few minutes, and noticed that the clerk was still showing different products to that customer, from one aisle to another. There's no way she didn't know I was waiting. But she chose to stay with that customer, ignoring me. I gingerly approached them, and when there was a pause in their conversation, I asked, "Could you ring me up?" Clerk: "I'm the only one working here. You need to wait." Me: "OK." I went back to the register and waited a bit more. Clerk (approaching): "You can see I'm the only one working, you didn't have to be that rude." Me: "I wasn't being rude." Clerk: "Yes, you were." Me: pause, I just looked at her, lost for words - I was so dumb-founded and couldn't believe she was accusing me of being rude. There was NOTHING in my tone that was rude. So I just said, "Whatever you say...." The rest of the transaction went uneventfully - but I just stared at her with despise, without spoken words. She was trying to be nice again. But I couldn't get over my head what she had said to me. That scummy customer service was the pits. If you choose to shop here, beware - you may run into this awful person. read more

The only reason why I'm giving this a full star is because of the 2 workers that were actually nice to me and my husband and actually were working, unlike the manager who sounded like an entitled piece of work. She was screaming saying "I'm the only one that does anything, it's like I'm babysitting" or something along those lines, I felt bad for the two workers there because they were just trying to help us and do their jobs. We pretty much were hiding in the isle so we didn't have to come face to face with her. My husband was completely mortified from the lack of professionalism the manager showed. It seems like this place went under new management. There is another heavy set male that is the new manager who is very rude!! Also, the way he looks at female customers is rather uncomfortable. Their also seems to be new employees. Something I've notice that they always have new staff but there is are still two girls that are always so nice and helpful. But the store is still great. I was in Alameda and wanted to check out Sally's products at this particular location. As soon as I walked in, I was not greeted by the cashier. In fact, as soon as i walked in, there was no cashier in site. When the second and third customer came in, they were greeted. As I was walking up and down the aisle, I was not asked if I needed help but it seems like (from what I have seen) the customers approached the cashier if needed help. When I was ready to check out, I waited more than 5 min for the cashier to ring me up. In fact, there was no line and the cashier was no where to be found. read more

I was honestly blown away by how willing everyone was to help me here. Give suggestions, and not be pushy about which products I bought. I have been to a lot of similar beauty stores in the area and this one definitely had the nicest staff at it. An older lady named Heidi helped me through the process for the most part and gave tons of suggestions about what would work best for me. She was super nice and super polite. They all were nice and polite! The prices were to par with the area maybe a little bit more but definitely worth it for the service you get. I honestly don't really care for the demeanor of the people at this location I felt there was a lot of shade thrown when I went to go do a return for a brush that I got that was actually for exactly gel nails and not acrylics I could not find my receipt but explain to the people over the phone that I did make the purchase with the card when I came in it seem like they were giving me a hard time and kind of being jerk-offs about the whole situation and not only that I have pointed out to the guy who was the manager that if I paid for it with cash and debit I should have the right to either way and I was just getting a refund for the brush then he tells the girl not to return it by card and give cash seriously dude do you even really know how to do your job or should I do it for you I also love how the girl who is doing a return with me was she was questioning me up and down about me having black paint on my hands which was the result of me dying my leggings with a spray-on dye because they were extremely faded like that's even anything relevant to me returning something at Sally's if you're the people who handled this whole refund and you're reading this you are not helping with what Donald Trump is saying right now read more
