I met my hair stylist Dallas who did a great job accommodating my hair disaster emergency! She did not take long and the cost was very reasonable. I booked her for a color later this month. I walked in the door today and while I was waiting to check in, one employee was going on and on saying ugly things about another employee who had just walked away. This was with three customers across the front desk. A different girl took me back and was the least courteous person I've ever met in a salon. She didn't make eye contact and kept talking loudly about personal matters to other stylists across the room. She never asked me what style I wanted and I ended up with this goofy teenager-style blow dry to go to my business meeting. Some serious maturity problems here -- never going back. Pro: the place appeared upscale and clean Con: who wants to pay money for this level of professionalism? There are many other salons nearby where you can spend your money. read more

I had a level 1 and thought my color was $36. She added $17 for extra color which totaled $53. My past level 5 charged me $50 for color. Hair was blown out but no real style. This salon up charges on every service. I was once charged $19 for low lights when all stylist did was pull a few strands through hair. $36 for color just means roots. They will charge more for a glaze on rest of hair or for more color. It gets very expensive by the time you leave. read more

Update from my previous 2-star review - I'm glad I gave this place another chance, because my haircut was / is amazing. Thank you, Rebecca and Dallas! I spoke with Rebecca on 7/21; she sympathized with my previous not-so-pleasant experience and quickly booked me for an afternoon haircut with Dallas on 7/23. Dallas understood my struggle between wanting to grow out my hair / cut my hair short (this time around, I wanted to cut my hair short) - she took a quick look at a Pinterest image for reference, combed through my hair briefly, and knew exactly what to do. Around 45 minutes later - after a shampoo, cut, blow-dry, and style - I had a new, stylish, short bob cut with minimal poof / bowl-cut feel. Dallas has a great sense of humor and definitely knows how to cut trendy asymmetrical bobs. Thank goodness for her understanding exactly how to deal with thick hair! I'm still sticking with my previous comment of finding a stylist you trust - from my experience, a higher level does not necessarily mean a better haircut. Came in for a dramatic cut (about 10-12 inches) and color and left with just what I wanted! Emery did a fantastic job reviving my auburn hair back to a color that looks natural. See Kae! She is FANTASTIC. Beyond sweet and really listens. I scheduled a spa day for myself. I had a baby about a year ago and with working and running around had stopped making time for myself. So I scheduled a day for a massage, hair cut and mani/pedi. When I first got to Genesis, I actually had a different stylist. She was horrid. Never asked me what I wanted, rushed through the hair wash (which is the best part), and was rushing through my style. So I asked if I could have a couple more inches cut off. She told me she didn't think she had time and was so rude to me. So I had to switch stylists and I ended up with Kae. Before Kae started cutting my hair I was NEVER going to come back to Genesis. The first stylist treated me so badly I was close to tears. Kae is an asset. She took a customer that was distraught and pissed and never coming back and was able to make the experience so enjoyable I booked with her again. read more

I have been coming to Genesis for a very very long time now. For the last 2.5 years I have been seeing Caitlin. She is a color expert and always advises me what I can and cannot do to my hair. I am a natural brunette and I have consulted with Caitlin about going blonde ( cause everybody knows blondes have more fun haha). I was fully expecting to walk out a tow head. She explained that if she took me from brunette to blonde in one day that tomorrow I probably wouldn't have a hair on my head. I was disappointed at first but after she did her color magic on me my hair looked amazing!! It was shiny, healthy looking and had gorgeous warm highlights in it. I have been twice and both visits were disappointing. I moved away from my previous stylist so tried here for a highlight touch up. I had thin highlights that blended in very well with my hair but both times I have been to Genesis I've left with chunky highlights that stand out in an unattractive way and at least 1/4-1/2 inch of roots still showing. Put $90 for bad coloring on top of $50 for 1 inch of hair to be cut off and I left with an empty wallet and hair that looks like it was colored by a newbie in beauty school. I was a first time visitor. I made two appointments for myself and my first grade daughter. Missy was my stylist. After spending some time growing my hair out, I came in asking for a new hairstyle and my stylist and I discussed some different options...I was very open and left it in her hands. The cut was technically acceptable but I looked like I only had a trim. I looked exactly the same! Very disappointing...where is my new style, where is the change??? To add insult to injury, when I went to pay the bill, I inquired about the costs of the haircuts. My haircut was $33 and my first graders haircut was $33....seriously? I have no problem paying more for a consultation with a stylist to consider my needs and create something that works for me....but I didn't get that. So you charge the same for a stylist consultation with an adult as you do to trim a little girls simple hairstyle...that is ridiculous. Not the same level of service at all! I feel that I should pay based on the level of service and difficulty that is required. So I paid almost $80 (with tip) for a couple of trims. I am not likely to return. read more

I called on a Saturday morning for a same day appmt, not expecting much, but the receptionist found a stylist with an opening for a cut for me. Dallas took the time to listen to what I wanted, taking into consideration the texture of my hair and my face shape, and FIXED the problems I was having with my hair. Now my short hair is in a good position to grow out like I want it to , while in the meantime looking like a real hair style. I would definitely recommend her as she listens and understands. She was very professional and not too chatty, which I find difficult when the hair dryers are going all over and it's so loud. She also gave a great relaxing shampoo massage. As I looked around, everyone was leaving with a really attractive cut and style. I have also had Marie do my hair and she is great too, for many of the same reasons as Dallas. I don't think you can go wrong at this salon. The receptionists could be a bit warmer and friendlier, but I wouldn't take off a star for it. I've been coming to Genesis for about a year now and normally I love it! This past time was a mess. I showed my stylist a picture of what I wanted and it didn't turn out the way I wanted. Im normally a very easy client and don't complain. My hair turned out to be a reddish color and not really the blonde I wanted. Fortunately, I'm kind of friends with the girl that did my hair so I texted her letting her know that I wasn't happy with my hair and instead of her being professional about it she was rude. I totally understand that they don't want to hear that but at least be nice and understanding. So I scheduled a redo appointment with someone else for the next day. I came in and showed her the EXACT picture I showed my other stylist and she comes back 15 mins later letting me know that we wouldn't be doing anything and then accuses me of not showing her the right picture I had shown the other stylist. I have never been treated so wrong at a salon in my life. I definitely will not be coming back. read more
