I had Dayle today for a wash n go. She was super sweet and took care of my hair. Loved the results. After the hairdryer she took me to the chair to finish drying with the diffuser however to no fault of hers , she had to go wash someone hair and joe took over to help finishing diffusing. He was nice chatting but then he mentioned something that put a sour spot in the experience he said "you know for future reference when you do a wash n go, they don't have to diffuser. That's why it's called wash n go." This comment rubbed me the wrong way cause I have been a client for salon 718 for a long time and have had Brandon, faith, Juan, and Cynthia and now Dayle finish off my hair drying with the diffuser so I don't understand why he said that??. I feel like he was saying that cause they had other clients to attend to but everyone I ever had for a wash ​n go even sachi has no problem diffusing. read more

I've been going to Salon 718 for a couple years now (not as often as I should, but this time because of Covid). After my haircut today I am even more thankful to have such a good salon to go to with such great people working there. Sachi is truly incredible. A gem. She is the nicest and makes me feel so at ease the whole time. Most of my recent appointments I've come in knowing I want a few inches off, but otherwise am open to her suggestions and she blows me away every time. She's super talented and I can't imagine going anywhere else now. The salon is really great about cleanliness right now, too. Hand sanitizer at the front, temperature checks at the door, plexiglass walls around the check-out area, everyone wears a mask, etc. Sachi said she felt good about coming in / working, which really made me feel good about how the salon is cleaning and taking precautions. Can not wait another minute to tell you guys about my experience. I am one of these paranoid people who can not have their hair done by another hairdresser except the one who they've known since a little kid but considering mine is almost 6000 miles away in Turkey, it was time to step up. Last month on my birthday, I came in for a hair cut, Sunshine talked to me in detail pre-process and cut perfect layers for my long and boring hair. Knowing that I will need highlights soon, we scheduled another appointment on that day. I love the fact that they sent reminder texts. In advance. I checked in half an hour early and we went over what we had talked the last time. First plan was half-head highlights but I wear my hair up most of the time so she explained it will remain darker at the bottom if we do half so I decided to go for full head. We were able to pack and unpack my hair in 3 parts, after the complete wash, she dried a piece in front part to make sure I like where the highlights start, how they look and I had asked for natural looking lines, not so deep to the root and she achieved even a better look than I could ask. After the treatment, we blew dry and whole process took 3 hours. For a pregnant lady, she works non-stop and helps other dressers with their questions. She is so professional that she does not just tell them what to do but question them to let them find their rational and correct answers depending on the customers' hair type, color and of course the expectations. So let's answer the cost questions of the service. I have long straight hair, for full head highlights, gloss add-on and blow dry, it is like $350 + tip. Tip cash only so have some on you. Considering the highlights last 6 to 10 months, it is affordable. You can skip the blow dry to lower the cost. Regarding Sunshine, she is leaving for her maternity days next month and will be back early April. She knows what she is doing so you can be sure to leave satisfied and as she said: No need to go back all the way to Turkey anymore :) Thank you Sunshine, Jonathan and Bianca. read more

I went to my first appointment with this salon yesterday and I LOVED it. I searched for a long time for a black owned salon and just kept coming back to this one in my searches. I booked the appointment online and I actually booked it for the wrong type of process to dye my hair but thankfully they were still able to see me. I was met by Juan at the door who is wonderful and energetic. My appointment was with Faith who is AMAZING. She made me feel so confident the whole time and we had a great conversation. The work she did to dye my hair was mesmerizing as it was my first time getting it professionally done. When washing my hair I met another hairdresser. I didn't get her name but I believe I heard Faith call her Ari. I basically almost fell asleep as she was washing my hair cause it was so calming. She was so sweet and even helped finish my silk press. The whole experience was amazing and I love that Juan was hyping me and Faith up the whole time cause of the hair color. I'm coming back in 2 weeks for a trim so that my silk press can look even better. Overall 10/10. I loved it!! read more

BLACK MONEY is NOT welcome here although there's a black owner they discriminate base on race. I'm sure all these positive reviews are fake. I went to get my hair trimmed by Sachi. My appt was for 3:15pm, but she said nothing to me until 3:45pm and she was literally maybe 5 or less steps away from me. No acknowledgement and not even 1 word or even a smile at all. I watched her be all chippery with her 2 non black clients laughing and being so social. Not even a look in my direction. Then she had a 3rd non black client come in while she was blow drying my hair. and as soon as he walked through the door she was chatting with him. Acknowledgement immediately. She was so talkative and acknowledging him and then decided to call over a shampoo assistant to flat iron my hair while she went over and sat with her non black client to hold a conversation. I couldn't believe. I finally had to say something and she looked annoyed when she had to finish flat ironing my hair. I was charge $125 by the way to be treated like crap and my hair looking like a old lady. I contacted Gloria and she sent me to a level 1 stylist although the price I paid was for a level 5 stylist. I go and my hair looks awful like she didn't know how to handle 3b/3c hair. I had to try to help her flatiron by telling her how to do and my hair was just a mess. This stylist was very nice, but I don't think she ever styled my type if here. That wasn't even all that took place. I was there for over and hour when a non black girl comes in and all of a sudden a bottle of wine comes out. Mind you I was there almost 2 hours and not even offered water, but she walks in and the wine comes out. I speak to Gloria the manager again and she says i can come back but then to add insult to injury she tries to send me to an apprentice I guess to practice on my hair. But mind you, they're supposed to be correcting what a level 4 stylist. I had enough by then. Then the owner contacts me and asked my to talk. I'm like for what, because I know they didn't want me to leave bad reviews but people need to know. Oh the ending of the texting between me and the owner Michaela was she saying she is not stooping to my level after she mentioned that she was black as if they don't mistreat their own kind as well. I told her the way Sachi and Gloria was so blatant with the way they treated me, I'm sure it comes from the type of they wouldn't feel comfortable doing it. Like I said.. They are expensive and the treatment sucks unless you aren't black. Sad! BLACK MONEY IS NO GOOD HERE! I went to the Dekalb location and the Court street location. I've never felt so low in my life. This is my worst experience I've every had at a salon and I paid good money to be there. So disappointed. read more

I really enjoyed my experience here. All who touched my hair were knowledgeable not only in hair products for my dry treses but different techniques to maintain health and retain length. I suffer from very dry coarse hair and was shocked when they were able to detangle my hair like it was butter with the products they used. I was on cloud 9 because I knew it was possible but have yet to experience for myself. I had to cut my hair but I'm glad I did because it's a chance for me to start a new with healthy locs of love . They make me excited for this new journey I'm bout to take with my hair in growing it out to be healthy and have some length to it. I have had some excellent cuts here -- by Cynthia (at Dekalb), Katie (at Myrtle, though unfortunately I think she left?), and Sunshine (who I think left a while ago). Katie is so great at cutting curls, and she always really takes her time and does an amazing job. Cynthia is also a PRO at curly cuts. She even cut my husband's curls and gave him -- I think -- the best cut he's ever had. However, I've also had a few cuts with Michaella in the past that weren't good at all, and felt extremely rushed. I would NOT recommend getting cut by her. The cuts felt messy and I didn't feel like she was listening or cared much about what I wanted. She was pushing products and treatments on me too, which was fine but annoying. It's a good salon because it seems like they can handle all hair types beautifully, but sometimes the stylists seem rushed. Do a little research and pick a stylist that has experience with your hair type. read more

I did not have a good experience with my first appointment for balayage. My hair was over-bleached, brassy, uneven, and really not what I had asked for. However, they were accommodating with a complementary fix with another stylist, Sachi, who did a beautiful job. So although I was upset my hair went through unnecessary processing and I had to make time for a second appointment, I am happy with the end result. Attended a ghoulish make-up session at this salon. My immediate take on the place is clean, spacious and had the hairdryers hanging from the ceiling which was a great way to store the hairdryers and providing less weight on the hands of the stylist. The hair/make-up artist was very friendly and her model was super funny as she created a zombie look on her muse, and explained the processes of the materials used to create the scary zombie look. I've come here three times. The first two I was just getting a cut, no problems at all. This past experience I was looking for highlights and after living with them for almost a week, I just have to get them redone. I really wanted to like them (like other reviewers said, this place is not cheap) and they are so two tone and brassy I've ended up wearing a ponytail all week. Initially, I thought I wanted subtle copper and got talked into full head highlights. My stylist was clearly overbooked and I think I was left to process for too long or something. She only dry cut my hair and my layers seem really square. It doesn't look like I paid $300 for this hair. It is so disappointing because I trusted these stylists after having precious positive experiences. When I left the salon I was feeling fresh, but when I took pictures with my friends later that night I made them delete everything. The color is so wrong for my natural hair and skin tone. Also oddly chunky in some areas so I can't part my hair down the middle anymore because it is so overwhelming. I've gotten zero compliments just "you changed your hair?" read more

Booked for a haircut last minute. Showed up on time and waited 20 minutes -- stylist was in the middle of another haircut. So they were overbooked. After a quick consult, stylist spent about 5 minutes cutting my ends and then proceded to blowdry for 10 minutes. And then... we were done? What? I really thought she was going to do a dry cut. Nope, we were done. I expressed my surprise -- no checking of the eveness, the layers? I was told if I was unhappy I had 7 days to come back to get it "fixed". This was a level IV stylist. I asked if they could at least flatiron it to tame the flyaways and curling ends -- was told that was another $10. Not the salon experience you want. read more

Juan is the Absolute Best!!!!! Not only does he sincerely listen to you, but then he takes what he heard and uses his terrific skill set to give you the hair style that you really want!! It's sorta like he does "his magic." Everyone is extremely nice here! I was really hoping to have an amazing experience to make this my go-to place. But the haircut was not good quality, and I had to fix it at home. I also left with soaking wet messy hair with no styling because my stylist was too busy juggling customers. My friends couldn't believe I had just come from a salon when they saw me afterwards. I was trying to find a new hair stylist, so I went on yelp and found this one. People seemed to like this salon and left amazing reviews, especially about Sunshine... So I booked an appointment, nothing seemed scammy at this point. I met her and talked about the look I want for my hair and even showed her multiple pics to tell her exactly what I want. After long 5 hours, (she did not change my hair color at first try) my hair did start to look blonde, but it's FROM THE BOTTOM, she ended up left a huge chunk of my natural hair, which is dark brown, untouched. Looks from the back it's almost 1/3 of it! The entire hair looks like some amateur who has no sense of color style did it and it's nothing like the photo! I was really upset but it was close to 11pm on a weekday. I was ready to go. She gave me the bill and ended up charging me $475 in total! Yes, $475, tips not included, and yes the price they have on their site is merely a GUIDELINE and not true at all! I don't have really long hair and at this point, I know it's a scam! How ppl can even leave good comments at all about her?! Has no sense of style and has no idea what she was doing! I'd pay that much just to get old hair color back! Ps, she offered me to change the color of the roots with EXTRA COST, on top of the $475 bill she already gave me!
