I had a great experience at Salon 718. From the salon decor to my hairstylist, everything was impeccable and welcoming. Irving was really personable and had a lot of passion for hair. I tend to get bored with the long layers haircut my longish thinner hair needs, and he was able to bring a new style to my hair while still adding volume. I was impressed with the inventive ideas he had with my little input, while still making sure I was comfortable with the changes. Go ask for Johnathan! He is amazing and so patient. I am a very picky person and can be annoying to get the look that I want. Johnathan, the stylist was so wonderfully patient with me and worked with me over 2(!) different appointments to get my hair exactly how I wanted. The first appointment I left happy and satisfied after an AMAZING new color and cut. (Johnathan REALLY knows his way around colors let me tell you!) However, after a day or two, I realized that I actually wanted it shorter, and Salon 718 booked a complimentary appointment for me to have Johnathan adjust it to be absolutely perfect. Silky Smooth with a side of Heat damage on very healthy natural hair. I was happy to return to Salon 718 because I know stylists are trained by the owner to keep integrity in their work. However, I came across and stylist who gave me a blow out that was so hot and smokey that I already knew damage was done. Although heat protectant was used, I just knew this stylist was in a rush to get me out of her chair. Next she proceeded to flat iron my hair. Running over one section about 4 to 5 times. Another no-no with natural hair, there was no need for that especially with 75% of the job done by the HOT as HELL Blow Dryer. Not to mention, i let the stylist know I have an itchy dry scalp and her reply was "next time try out scalp treatment" instead of trying to fit it in my current wash. Will not return. I always felt as if this place didnt really like catering to my kind/my texture of hair and now I have even more clarity about that along w some pretty permanently straight strands. Thanks read more

I love going to Salon 718. I tend to go once every 3 months for a trim and root touch up or whenever I have a special event to attend. I am always treated with outstanding customer service. Upon my arrival I am greeted by a friendly receptionist/host, offered a hot or chilled beverage and usually seen right away. My stylist Kai is AMAZING. At times I can be a bit indecisive or simply unaware of what hairstyles bring out my features, but she has been a great help with this. She's extremely patient and kind. She is also very informative on how to take care of your hair. I have natural curly hair. She was so sweet and great to work with! I showed her the cut I wanted , she listened and delivered. She explained everything she was doing. She also didn't try to sell me on anything extra, which I hate. I really dislike going to a salon and paying 3 times as much when I'm only interested in one service. Do not go here. Came here to get my blonde hair darkened to my natural brown, and I got a disgusting burgundy red. It looked like I had a wig on. Came back again to get it fixed, a new stylist didn't do anything, and finally I came back a third time and a third stylist kind of fixed my hair. I am still really not happy with it, and they charged me for adding highlights to my hair when in reality she was just fixing what the salon originally messed up. Aside from seeing the three stylists who worked on my color, I also got my hair cut. I wear a short bob. I got a mini mullet. It was shorter in the front than in the back and essentially looked like I had a Darth Vader helmet. All of the stylists except two I saw were extremely rude and not polite in anyway. Go to Hair & Co BKLYN. They're right down the street, a million times better at hair, and so kind and sweet! Don't waste your time here 2 Stars only for Sunshine - the third stylist I saw. Like you I was reading reviews on Yelp and this salon was near me, was in my price range and had an appointment when I was looking for one and I wont be going anywhere else again. Last week I went to Salon 718 on Myrtle for the very first time. I had previously made an appointment with Kai to come in on Thursday afternoon. I came in very unsure about what direction I wanted to go in. My stylist Kai was so very patient and helpful. She did a full consultation with me. We not only discussed what I wanted to have done that day but we also discussed a healthy hair journey moving forward. Prior, during and after styling she explained every step of the process and how each step would help me achieve the look I wanted. I was also made very comfortable during my visit, the salon played relaxing music, I was offered wine upon my arrival as well as my jacket taken to be hung up. It was truly an upscale professional experience. I would highly recommend this Salon and more specifically Kai. She is a wonderful and talented stylist who will give you the professional, courteous and well executed service you are looking for. I am in love with my hair cut and color. I was in desperate need of a hairstyle change- my hair was long and drab after the summer months. After chatting with the receptionist (so lovely but I can't remember her name) I was introduced to Irving, he made me feel so comfortable in the chair and I felt instantly reassured that I was in good hands. He suggested a shorter cut with layers and wanted to do some highlights. I was nervous at first as I have had not so great experiences in the past but he did the BEST JOB EVER!!
