This was my first time coming into this salon, I had called to make the appointment and spoke to someone about the quite drastic cut I wanted to get done (6-7 inches of hair gone) and I spoke with Jonathan personally and he seemed very eager to work with me. I went in for the haircut and was greeted by very friendly staff. The haircut was exactly what I wanted, and Jonathan was wonderful! I'll definitely be returning to get a trim when necessary and everyone in the store was very friendly and helpful and seemed as excited as I was for this new change. I was excited to try out this salon, but probably will never go back. The head massage was great, but throughout the entire hair cut, she kept on whipping the wet hair on my face. By far the sweetest and coolest stylist I've had in a while, JONATHAN! I came in and asked for ashy highlights throughout my hair, afterwards decided they were too bright and Jonathan the next day took care of it right away! Irving gave me the best haircut I've ever had! He listened to my concerns with how my hair looks when it grows long between haircuts (and it grows fast). As well as the fact I don't always like to put product in my hair. His cut works both when I have stuff, and when I'm feeling lazy--I've gotten tons of compliments both ways! Meh. I don't understand the hype. I had a haircut with Ivan and the whole thing took about 20 minutes, which is never a good sign. I wanted a straight across haircut with clean ends (I have shoulder-length hair). He didn't really even do an assessment of my hair, he just sat me down and started cutting it dry.. which doesn't feel right/good. He tried to up-sell me on various products and services, which also didn't feel good. At the end of the day, it's just simply not a good haircut, and I won't be coming back. read more

I came into the shop because I got the worst effin' haircut I have ever received in my life and wanted to see if they could fix it. I looked like a bad German factory worker that had been disfigured in an explosion- WITH BANGS! Not only was the staff tactful yet brutally honest, courteous and QUICK, but I felt like I was being cared for by family. My stylist Drew, was fashionably non chalant and so quick to fix the deceased beaver on my head. He was also pretty easy on the eyes so that made the hair cut even better! I think the best part was that there was no pressure to maintain that weird "salon small talk" that so many new customers are subjected to. I sat quietly, got a very nice haircut in a clean and courteous environment and My hair no longer looks like a piece of chicken sitting under a warming lamp for 75 hours. read more

I visited this salon during it's soft opening last month after seeing a recommendation from a fellow curly girl on IG. The staff was so warm and inviting when I walked in and I didn't have to wait to get started. My appointment was for a cut by Michela, the owner. She not only gave me an amazing cut but explained what she was doing and why she was doing it. She gave me pointers on products and general care for my hair. Keyonna, who also part of the process, washing and putting in product, was also a ride or die curly hair guru. Both women are so supportive and understanding of various curly textures and imparted their knowledge the entire time I was there. I have two little girls who also have different curly hair textures and I took them back to Michela the following week for their haircut before school started. This salon is now a go to for me and my girls to keep our curls poppin and healthy!! read more

First I would like to express how beautiful the salon is as well as their staff. I have been a client for the past two years and always have been assisted by the lovely Kai. I started off as her model for multiple of her classes. Now she is a Stylist and still is the only person I trust with my color and cut. Kai provides an exceptional client experience from the time I walk into the salon for EVERY APPOINTMENT. Kai makes sure to fully understand the look I am attempting to achieve and suggest alternatives as needed to best fit my face and hair type/texture. I leave feeling amazing each and every time. I've been here 3 times and out of all three times I didn't have one good experience. The first was for highlights, they tested a piece of my hair to make sure the color would take and it didn't lift since I had a dark color over it so I declined to go for full highlights and somehow that little patch of barely highlighted hair in the back of my hair ended up costing me $90. The manager never said it would cost the amount of a full highlight job. Nice surprise.. (20% tip) 2nd time I went this was around 8 months later after my natural color returned, I wanted to do the highlights and I wanted them to be gradual and not streaky. Well they came out streaky and had the most minimal color where didn't look like anything was done. Instead of doing it again so it looked like I actually had something done I just wanted to leave. I figured if they were going to come out streaky I'd rather you not be able to see them. Paid too much for no change to my hair at all. (20% tip) 3rd time - about 6 months later. Went for keratin on my bangs, called they said it would be $50 (literally just my hairline) I get there they tell me it will be $100 (the cost of full head) so they could blow me out. I feel like they're pushing this on me and I push back because I have an iron deficiency which causes a burning pain sensation and hair loss at the crown of my head. (I can barely touch my own hair on some days due to pain) They push more, I have to divulge this private information and they look annoyed. The whole salon stopped to listen in. The girl getting her hair done makes a noise (petty old lady) like I'm being difficult when I'm really just trying to get what I negotiated on the phone and protect my body despite the salon tech telling me thinning hair is natural. Should I have got him on the phone with my endocrinologist so he'd believe me? I was treated like I was difficult. The manager tried to be very polite and somewhat understand but it felt like bad vibes and I wanted to run out of there the entire time. What I needed took 20min tops. I paid and got the heck out of there!!! So much anxiety, def not putting myself through that again. (no tip!!.. Ran away fast) I feel like I was treated like a bitchy annoying customer but when you have health problems I won't stand down just to be polite. I don't even want to walk past this place again. Fool me 3x , shame on me! Gave 2 stars for the manager at least trying to understand me. read more

The coolest layout of a shop I've seen by far with dryers hanging from above on retractable cords and the ability to move from one station to another with ease. I had the pleasure of being styled by Sunshine (who works mainly at the Dekalb Avenue location)! Yep... Sunshine and she was just as her name states a burst of Sunshine. We talked about my hair, what styles I liked and the finished product had me walking out like the Diva I am!!! So the biggest question for most is the price. The prices are reasonable. They do get higher when you include extensions and color but the services you receive are of an equally high caliber. You will get your monies worth. read more
