I went to Caitlyn who was so kind and welcoming, but the highlight ended up being kind of sloppy. I attached a picture. My roots are still very visible, have streaks in them, and it looks like the bleach leaked out of the foil a bit. I got this done two days ago so obviously that's not actual regrowth. Pretty disappointed and need to get it fixed as soon as possible, but definitely won't be coming back here for that. read more

Ooo la la ! KC I love you more and more. Today I had some spare time in the afternoon and since my hairstylist back home can't see me until May ( Crazy I know!) I decided to search on Yelp what potential there was here. Lucky for me I found this gem of a Salon. And even better they could fit me in for a Women's hair trim within the hour! This spot was perfectly located in the West Plaza area. A short walk from where I was staying conveniently enough. I had a hair appointment with Jess and she was such a peach! Absolutely loved being her client today as she did a spectacular job. I came into the quaint but stylish salon with long dry and worn curls that had some choppiness where layers should be and split ends where curls should end. With a mimosa in hand and refreshing conversation I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere here. The service itself was stupendous. She did a high quality job and it truly seemed like she cared throughly about the overall service and outcome. I will gladly return the next opportunity I can! (She also serves drinks...alcoholic and non!). It's a cute spot right outside the Plaza with a small parking lot next door. Misty asked what I wanted and I told her to chop away (it was so sweet how shocked she was when I said chop away ~14 inches!). It's been a few weeks and there are no wonky strands of hair sticking out (which tends to happen when you have shorter hair). Basically, I'm just over here loving my lob. Walking into Salon Ado, it was so different than any other hair salon I've ever been. I was expressing this to the hairstylist Jess, and she nailed it when she described it as not being commercialized. Hard to explain, unless you experience it yourself, but I found myself valuing the simplistic beauty of the salon that boasted edison light bulbs (my favorite!!) and little accents that were not overdone. It created a more welcoming environment compared to the fancy almost gaudy salons I typically go to. I realized though that more intimate places such as Salon Ado are often sadly overlooked when they may very well provide higher quality services. I chose to book my appointment with Jess (which was especially convenient with Yelp), and from the start, Jess was responsive and easy to work with when as I described the style of cut that I wanted. She decided to cut my hair dry which was out of the ordinary for me, but she explained the many benefits of that especially for people with curly/wavy hair. Throughout the haircut, Jess pointed out other things about my hair in terms of length and layers that showed me that she was being extremely attentive and knew what she was doing (which can be scary when putting your hair in the hands of strangers!). All together, Jess spent an hour and a half on my hair, from cutting to showing me products to washing and styling. An hour and a half! At other salons, it feels like they're constantly checking their watch if they go over an hour. They use exceptional products that I've never heard of by Kevin Murphy that smells and feels wonderful. Jess was so friendly, kind, and fun to talk to, and most importantly, I love my hair! It came out exactly as I wanted to and am so excited to have found a salon I love in KC that charges a reasonable price. There may not be the glam and glitter of the typical hair salons, but I would chose this salon over others any day. read more

I actually came in here this past Friday to get my hair cut and styled for a rehearsal dinner. I wanted to give my hair a few washes and a chance to get used to the hair cut before writing my review. Full disclosure, as a New Yorker getting her hair done, you really can't beat the value of this salon, but that can be attributed to the fact that I'm used to dropping at least $90 for a haircut/blow dry without styling in the city. My stylist was Kaitlyn and she was super friendly. I only wanted a quick trim with not too much length cut off and she was able to achieve just that. She then blew out my hair and did some loose curls. Sadly, my hair cant hold a curl to save it's life, but it did look great for that evening! All in all, paying $46 bucks for a cut and style is definitely worth it. If I lived in KC, I'd probably be here once a month. read more

I've been going here for about a year, three haircuts in all. The online booking system is really easy to use and the salon itself is really cute. Because the salon has so many positive reviews I was disappointed every time when I got home to find my naturally curly hair even more unruly than before I left for the salon. I had to use twice the amount of product I usually do to tame the frizz. I'm still not sure what went wrong, my only guess is blunt scissors. Alexandria is the best! My hair was kind of a mess after visiting a different salon... Alex listened to what I had envisioned for myself and made it happen without much debate or worry on her part. This made me feel much more at ease as her client, especially after having experience such a terrible color job at the other salon. She collaborated with me on deciding what length and style cut would look best on me with my thick, kinky curly hair. Moved to Kansas City a months ago and was badly in need of a haircut. I'm always super nervous about letting someone new touch my hair. I made an appointment with Jess based on the reviews on Yelp...and they are well deserved! Having just had a previously bad hair coloring experience, Jess sat down with me and told me what the possibilities were for my appointment. At no time did I feel that she didn't have full control over what my hair was going to look like. I had shown her a picture of how I liked my hair to look and she definitely achieved it! ...Even though some of it wasn't technically achievable according to her. Jess was really positive and spent a great deal of time on my hair (I've got a lot of it). The full highlights and cut took over 3 hours, I think. I never felt that she felt rushed in any way and the entire time she was really focused on my hair. The bottomline: I believe Jess is one of the best hairstylists in KC. She's positive and really makes you feel that what you want for your hair is possible. I will definitely be going back in the future! She made my hair look the best that it's looked in over a year. Favorite haircut of all time. I have THICK hair and a lot of it! I was booked with Alexandra when I made my appointment( this was a few months ago). When I got there I explained my frustration of the way my cuts turn out. my hair is so thick it ends up looking very bottom heavy, blunt and lifeless; & usually takes at least 4 weeks of natural wear tear and growth to get the character back. Alexandra took the time to texture my whole head layer by layer by layer. I was so impressed that she listened to me and had a way to fix it. As soon as I sat down, I felt the stylist was defensive with my large selection of pictures. Once again, I went in and said, "Please, please do not cut off the length." And my beautiful hair is now resting on my shoulders. I look like one of the Three Musketeers, because there isn't enough weight to hold down my curls. Where on earth can a girl go to get a sectioned, long-layered haircut for wavy/curly hair? I'm really sad about my feminine hair gone.
