I requested highlights and she dyed my entire head blonde, the breakage lasted for the next year, and she was rude.

The absolute worst experience of my entire life. My hair stylist is out on leave so I had no choice but to go somewhere else. I went in for a full head of highlights, and came out with yellow brassy roots that didn't match the rest of my hair and cheetah prints. The highlights were so blotchy, the placement was horrible. I spent 300$ including a horrible haircut that was extremely uneven. The same day i messaged Melissa to fix my hair, upon arrival she told me she would just put in a glaze while making me feel uncomfortable the whole time and as if I was annoying her for coming back to fix her horrible job. Long story short my hair still looks horrible she didn't fix anything and I'm fighting her for my money back. Melissa was super rude and seemed bothered the whole time, unpleasant experience. So I got get highlights after not bleaching my hair for a year and a half I walk in to the salon with my hair in very good condition i walk out with over processed hair and an extremely uneven hair cut. Best of all while my hair was being highlighted the colorest was complaining that it was taking so long first of all your being paid to do this. Literally the worst salon ever, I don't even know how it is still in business. The owner is insanely unprofessional and doesn't know how to treat customers. You will be overcharged and feel very uncomfortable and not welcomed. When you're a customer in a hair salon you wish to feel welcomed, important, and good about yourself when you leave. You will not walk out feeling like you experienced any of that. I got a full head of highlights and walked out with hot roots, the highlights didn't even go all the way to my root. I was referred to this salon by the woman I had been using who moved. I went to the salon to consult with the owner who is the only stylist at this time. I went to extreme lengths to explain what I wanted and she assured me she could do it. The day of the appointment I had a photo of the color I did not want and 3 photos of the color i did want. I explained over and over what I wanted. The cut was okay but the color was really bad. She just did not seem to have the ability to understand what I was requesting. I was told to keep washing it and it would get better. I had to return 3 days later to have it corrected. She again was unable to come even close to the color I requested and showed pictures of. Now my hair is so over processed, I can't even go to another shop for awhile. And for this I paid almost 400.00 including a tip!! read more

She ended up doing the complete opposite of what I asked because she did not want to listen to me and she was very rude. I am impressed by every aspect of this salon. My first appointment was with Rose earlier this year and she did an amazing job! I scheduled my appointment on short notice and was ecstatic when they said they could fit me in the next day which was a saturday. I work in Great Neck and work long hours so it helps me a lot to have a Salon close to my home is open on the weekends. My hair was in terrible shape before my first appointment- over processed and damaged from using too much heat too often. She talked me through how to start reversing the damage and recommended the best products for my hair. I committed to following all of her recommendations and six months later, my hair is healthier than I ever imagined. I was so worried that I would have to dye my hair dark and cut it short so it would eventually be healthy again because that has been recommended to more times than I count. She understood that I want to stay blonde and keep my hair as long as possible. Instead of persuading me or trying to convince me to do something I didn't want to do- she respected my wishes and came up with a plan personalized to me. I will never go to another salon again. Not to mention, the design and and decor truly makes you feel like a princess. It doesn't have the modern futuristic design you see in a lot of salons these days. It's a cozy environment and you immediately feel at home! They don't over schedule so there's never someone going back and forth between clients. I left crying because the woman doing my hair was so mean and rough, to the point another stylist had to make her walk away for a second. I have mixed feelings about this place. I have been here twice for a blowout and both times my hair came out really great, but the girls who work here are just really not friendly. The first time I came in for a blowout I walked in and was told they were closing. I explained that I had made an appointment online earlier that day and they were still reluctant to take me. Finally I explained that since I had made an appointment they should really honor it, and the girl at the register reluctantly told the other stylist that I had made an online appointment with her so she had to stay. I guess they wanted to close early, but it is just sort of rude when someone has told you they have an appointment. While the girl who was at the register washed my hair I guess she realized that they had been a little rude so she said they don't always see the online appointments so she didn't realize I had one, but I had literally told her twice that I had booked one. I was trying to help diffuse the uncomfortable atmosphere so I very politely told her it was ok, no problem I was just glad they could take me and I really appreciated them honoring my appointment since I had somewhere to go, but then it returned to awkward silence. The girl who blew out my hair asked me how I like my hair blown and did a very nice job, but was also unfriendly. It is very awkward to sit there in total chilly silence while someone is doing your hair. I thought maybe it was because she had to stay to do my hair, but when I was back a second time earlier in the day it was the same sort of deal. Pretty much silence in the salon the whole time I was there, not really friendly when you come in, even with the other customers. I am not especially chatty when I get my hair done, I don't mind quiet as long as it doesn't feel uncomfortable but this is just awkward. I will say the salon is beautiful and the products they use there are amazing. I loved the shampoo and conditioner so much I purchased a set of both and a hair serum, and using these products my hair feels better than it has in a long time. The second time I was back I bought the hairspray they used as well, it smells amazing and doesn't leave any residue in your hair. The blowout is a little pricier than some of the other places I have been, but I was very happy with the results and longevity so the price wasn't such an issue, and they will let you tip on your credit card which is always so convenient. I just wish they were a little more welcoming so it doesn't feel so awkward to be there. read more

worst haircut........don't know what's wrong with the stylist, she seems like not happy and tortured my hair

Went in to get my hair bleached, from the beginning I asked for ash blonde, and that I wanted to get the yellow out. When she was done my hair was school bus yellow, and they were obviously upset with my complaint and grudgingly added a sliver wash that turned my hair splotchy grey. Gina did a horrible job putting in the highlights, they were thick, splotchy, and not blended well. In a pony tail, one side of my head was pure white, and the other medium dark blonde with different darker tones. I asked her to highlight my ends to be lighter than the rest of my hair, and to frame my face with a lighter blonde, she said she would do it, and did not. She makes you feel uncomfortable during the appointment because she doesn't talk to you at all, and apparently doesn't take direction as to what you want. She quoted me at $190, and tried to charge me $280. This place sucks and is a big rip off, don't be fooled by the stores decor, its from all the clients they ripped off. read more

This is the worst, not only salon I've ever been to, but probably the worst run small business I've ever been to. Starting with the first impression, the salon is just uncomfortable to be in, the girls seemed to be permanently bothered and have barley any social skills. I barely got a "hi" when I walked in and when I unfortunately had a little coughing fit, they just all started at me looking like they'd wish I'd stop. So yeah really skilled customer service workers here, right off the bat. management is a joke and their techniques are laughable. When I went to another salon to fix their mistakes, my new hair stylist couldn't believe they even had their licenses. Very long and frustrating story short, I was over charged HUNDREDS because they gave me extra extensions without telling me. At $45 a piece, I'd like to know that. I'm young and was recovering from traumatic hair loss so they took advantage of that and sold me something without my knowledge, knowing I wouldn't want them taken out because I longed for a full head of hair again. After confronting them, instead of refunding me and apologizing, they told me I was a liar and they had "evidence" through cameras and microphones in the salon that I agreed to the service. Obviously this isn't true but I was told that if I came to the salon they would call the police. Also I asked to be called back with the "evidence" but, because it doesn't exist, that's the last I've heard from them. You'd really think three days before Christmas, they'd show a little more compassion, but no they are heartless. read more

I was looking for a good blond colorist on LI and decided to go to Salon Blonde based on the reviews and pics. Big mistake. During the consultation I informed the colorist that a level 9 was too dark for my base color per my previous experiences. Needless to say she proceeded to put in a level 9 which turned out too dark. I only found this out during my second visit which was supposed to correct the outcome. She also performed the base color and highlights at the same time which resulted in a very sloppy outcome. I now have a dark band OVER highlights on my forehead and half inch of visible base color that looks like regrowth in some areas. The rest in streaky and uneven. I had also informed her TWICE during the consultation that I do not like or want an ash color which is what I left with. This was so bad that it bordered on hints of purple in some areas. I informed Rose that my hair was so streaky on the sides that I couldn't wear my hair up. Her resolution for that was to add two foils of highlights (with no toner) on each side which actually made the matter worse. Baby fine highlights would have worked a lot better to break up the very dark base however this colorist does not seem to care at all. She seemed annoyed and aloof. (Disclaimer: This happened about a month and a half ago) I usually don't ever post reviews, but if I had known what I was getting into when I decided to book an appointment at this salon, I would never have gone, so I thought that I should share my experience. After months of slowly lightening my hair to a light red-toned brown, I decided that I was ready to go blonde. I saw the great reviews and the photos on the salon's social media, and decided that Salon Blonde would be a good place to take the final step. I came in and was very impressed by the interior and how nice the owner and receptionist were. I explained to Melissa that I wanted an ashy blonde, and I was told that my hair would probably be a warmer shade than I wanted, but that it would definitely be blonde. I accepted this, knowing that it's impossible to get it completely right the first time. However, when color was put on my hair without any sort of foil, I should have known something was up. I mentioned to Melissa that the last thing I wanted was to have red hair, and I was assured that it would be fine. So she washed out my hair, and sat me back down, and I was immediately terrified because my hair was RED. I voiced my concern to Melissa, and she took me back to the sink for a second glaze. After having my hair blowdried, I told Melissa that I was not happy with the color. She started to tell me that she had told me that the color I wanted "wasn't going to happen" and said that I had been warned that my hair wouldn't be blonde, which is not at all what she had said. So I ended up paying $300 for a bad, uneven dye job. I went home in tears, trying to figure out how I could turn the situation around without wasting even more money. My mother called and spoke to Melissa, and I went back in later that week to see what could be done to rectify it. I then had highlights put in my hair (which were also, by the way, uneven), and was shocked at both the attitude I was given and the rough way in which my hair and scalp were handled. I was dismissed with partially wet hair that was at this point red with white stripes that could not accurately be called highlights. I have since gone back to a dark brown. You could not pay me to step foot in this establishment again. read more
