Purchased Groupon for full highlights and cut. Horrible experience! Do not recommend to anyone nor will I ever go back! Not sure where to start on this but it was not good! Natalie was the stylist, and was nice but did NOT listen to me about my hair or what I wanted!!! She foiled my hair. I told her I wanted golden highlights and that I process quickly!! I didn't realize that they foil/color more than one client at a time. SO NOT GOOD!! She told me to have a seat in the sofa area and that she would check me in a few minutes. FOURTY FIVE minutes later I approached cause I knew I was WAY OVER PROCESSED!! She had the nerve to tell me I still needed a few minutes and sent me away. I have had my hair highlighted my whole life and I know it doesn't take this long EVER! When she finished foiling her next client she called me over and said I needed to go under the dryer for a few minutes. I was like r u sure??? She looked again and said nope your done. I knew I was done LONG AGO..... MY HAIR WAS WHITE, totally over processed and platinum! Stripped of any color. I was so upset and disappointed!! I tried so hard to be nice about it cause I didn't want her to feel bad. I tipped her $20 and left hoping I was being overly sensitive! I went home and my kids and husband told me I looked horrid and like a super Grandma old lady! I was crushed and called the salon. I should have stayed then and told her to fix it but my son had an event so I had to leave with this yucky hair color. I wanted to go first thing the next day for some help. They said NO Natalie has to fix it and wont be in til next Tuesday. I stayed IN doors as to not be seen as 20+ years older than I actually am. My hair looked like ashy charcoal. It was awful. Today, Tuesday I went in with a PICTURE of how my hair normally looks. Golden highlights which she even complimented me on when she first met me. So she added a toner and it turned out much better! The finale on my writing this review was that she told me I had to style my own hair afterwards. She said her next client was waiting. She just washed my hair and asked if I wanted to sit under the dryer or a hair dryer to blow dry it myself! I was shocked at how poorly treated I was and she added INSULT to INJURY by not properly drying my hair which would've taken 5 maybe 10 minutes. My hair is very fine and dries quickly. Horrible customer service, two horrible experiences and horrible initial hair. She did NOT listen to anything I said. I KNOW MY HAIR and advised her accordingly. The whole situation was handled horribly!!! While my hair is better now the whole experience I endured was unnecessary. read more

My pores are gone. Seriously, Cristina and her magical facial stole my pores. I bought a groupon for a facial, thinking the same thing everyone thinks when they purchase a service through groupon... It wont be horrible, but I'm sure it wont be great either. Boy was I wrong. A very stylish salon, the moment I walked in I was welcomed by a friendly associate cutting hair. My wait, less than 4 minutes was soon ended by a smiling Cristina welcoming me by name. She showed me to my room where I changed and the magic began. Cristina was super friendly, chatty (but not too chatty- after all it is a facial, a time to relax and refresh). She explained each step of the process. I love she uses the Hydro Peptide products. You can actually feel them working. Exfolliating, masks, steam, finger preassure and best of all a mini massage. I could feel the stress and anxierty leaving my body as her magic fingers worked out every feeling of doubt, anxiety and stress from my body. Little did I know what a hour later after the facial was over my skin was robbed as well! Gone were my large pores, dead skin, and rough exterior. I was left with soft, plump, glowly poreless skin. After having the same hair stylist for years, she moved out of town and I was at a complete loss. Tho I got recommendations from many others, no one person or salon got me very excited. I went over a year without a haircut before I finally came across reviews on City search for Salon de Vive. There were so many good reviews, and something in my gut said to take a chance. So I booked with the owner Vi. She is now my new stylist for life! I have now been having my hair done with Vi for over 4 years now. I actually had never had such time taken with me on the first visit to determine what I really wanted, how I lived, my lifestyle, etc. The first cut was amazing! and it grew out so beautifully that I was able to go a longer time between cuts! I do keep my hair longer, so that helps, but each and every time my cut is perfection! Color is SO good too, she actually got it to almost exactly as my natural color, so too, I can go longer between color jobs as you can barely tell as it grows out! Vi is always a pleasure too, makes you feel so welcome and comfortable, almost like visiting family. I cannot tell you how elated I am to have Vi as my hair stylest. It doesn't get any better. Vi is simply the Best there is! And, her prices are very affordable and most fair for the quality of the cut and color you get. I have paid far more for far less. So sad we moved to NC!! Vi has done my cuts and color for 5-6 years now. I have SUPER thick and tangled hair. BLONDE. We've gone from short and sassy to long and sexy then everything in between. I saw the groupon, made an appointment for a balayage and cut, and it was with Beata. I was a little nervous, I've had my hair screwed up before, but I rolled the dice. I went to Salon de Vive back in June with a Groupon deal for a full highlight and cut, prepaid as Groupon deals always are. When I got in the chair, I told the stylist (Beata I think) what I wanted and she proceeded to argue with me that I didn't need highlights, that I should just get a single overall color. She didn't justify it with a technical reason why it was a bad idea, like my hair was too damaged or it wouldn't look right, she just kept saying that I didn't need it. I come from a whole family of hair stylists, so I know what's possible and what isn't. She must have spent 5 or 10 minutes arguing with me so finally I gave up and let her do what she wanted, instead of what I wanted. Halfway through, she said, "Oh and this will look extra nice because you already have a few highlights from your last style!" Yes, and that's why I wanted you to touch them up and add a few more, but you wouldn't listen to me! On top of that, she didn't so much as trim my hair. So I paid $89, what was supposed to be a great Groupon deal, for an overall color that I could have done at home on my own. She got paid for doing a fraction of the work that I paid for. My feedback for Cristina's facial is well overdue! I used a Groupon and was very very happy how she handled everything! We had a mix up first about time. I waited for her and could not stay. But she was very graceful about the situation (mental note for myself: "learn this"!) and rescheduled me without giving me any troubles. THANK YOU CRISTINA! Next time I came she spent all the time with me. I did not feel like I was a Groupon/coupon clipper customer. She gave me good suggestions. You know how everyone on Yelp is always like "I've never written a review but my experience was so awful I just HAD to write one?" Well this is something similar but for the complete opposite reason; I've never written a review before but my experience at Salon De Vive was so awesome I've been raving about it all day. I had done balayage at other top salons in the city, but they had all given me a uniform, dull, choppy dark blonde ombré --not a clean balayage. I was about to give up and go back to my natural dark brown when Groupon sent me an offer for Salon De Vive. I told myself this would be my last balayage so I went ahead and got it. Beata was so awesome, she took one look at my hair and went straight to work. I have a lot of hair and she had the utmost patience, she even did a cool trick with six barrel brushes to tame my long head of hair. I walked away with a bright, cool blonde balayage, no brassy tones in sight! In fact, I think I'm going to stick to blonde a little longer and definitely heading back here for it! read more
