I tried to go different days they weren't working & it doesn't matter. They miraculously are working that day... not happy. The prices are great so I do want to try another location to see if it's the same experience. I also asked to get my inner butt since I paid for Brazilian and she refused. She said no. For a service that I'm paying for. It was not cool. Will not be back. I also am susceptible to ingrowns and I thought it was so ironic when she told me it's bc I don't go often or that I'm using other people. When in fact, I was stuck with her the last 4x.

Their website is very easy to navigate and book an appointment through. I was greeted by a very kind esthetician and receptionist. The vibe of Thread is lovely! It's a nice space that kinda reminds me a bit of a modernized salon-like barber shop. Once it was my turn, I sat down and she got right to work, confirming I wanted a clean. She didn't ask many questions after, but hey, I'm not picky with my brows, I just want them to look nice and even, and she definitely delivered! The service was fantastic throughout! Also, at the end, she put some soothing aloe and gave me a temple massage -- it was so lovely :). They have a loyalty punch card so you can get a free wax after coming 7+ times I believe. I'll certainly be back!

Sarina was so nice right from the start, and did an incredible job of somehow finding a shape in the two little caterpillars I'd been sporting for a couple years! Despite the overgrowth, she managed to make the experience virtually painless, and while she took her time and I never felt rushed (like I do at some other threading spots), I still was out the door very quickly, with no angry redness on my face to reveal where I'd just been, so I could easily get on with my night. They were very nice about it and told me to splash my face with cold water and applied aloe Vera gel to cool my face. Overall a pretty good job at cleaning and trimming my eyebrows. The thread did break off a couple of times and she used a new one. They cleaned out most of my face and blackheads up but there was still some blackheads or hair on my temples. I had to puff my cheeks and hold onto my eyelids close for them to get in the hard areas. I just have a lot of blackheads so it's pretty tough to get rid of them. The service was quick and I was out like that. They are very nice people and it was a quiet service where there's no talking so that's good.

The Stylists and Colorists at Salon DeLouie are very professional and charming. I went to Salon DeLouies when another salon with whom I had made an appointment refused to agree to give me an itemized receipt for the work I would need on my hair. I needed the receipt for reimbursement due to an error from a packaged product which damaged and discolored my hair. I walked in without an appointment and explained the unfortunate experience at the other salon. Oksana at the counter gave me an immediate estimate and had no problem agreeing to give me an itemized receipt to assist me in the reimbursement. Elena removed the ugly dark color from my hair, recolored, cut and blew it out. It took some time but it came out beautiful. Another young lady also named Oksana washed my hair and she massaged my scalp so wonderfully it gave me goosebumps. She also prepared a lovely cup of coffee for me. The Russian station they had on played a variety of amazing music of different genres and languages. I felt so comfortable there I actually fell asleep while waiting for the color removal and recoloring to take effect. I had a really amazing experience at Salon Delouie, and I walked out feeling like a million bucks. I totally recommend Salon DeLouie, :) :) :) read more

John David deLouie just took over what used to be a shoe store. And what a beautiful salon they've made into it! It's clean, bright, airy. And, it's modern, friendly and have a reasonable price list. Now onto one of my favorite things there...Jose. You know you've found the perfect hair stylist when you trust him to do your hair for your wedding. I don't mean to use hyperbole here, but he is: The. Perfect. Hairstylist. He is talented, understanding and is in-tune with what YOU want. If you want to talk, he'll talk (and he's hilarious) but if you want to just sit and chill, he'll hand you a magazine so you can do just that. He understands what you mean when you tell him exactly how you want your hair. He's great with all types of hair and I've always been happy. To sum it up, he just gets it. I have recommended this salon, and specifically Jose, to a bunch of people and none of them have been disappointed. It's a great new space and a welcome addition to the Financial District. Salon DeLouie is a true diamond in the Financial District. I entered the Salon on a whim and was immediately met by an attentive owner, and introduced to Eve. Eve provided an extensive consultation listening to my concerns and hair needs. Simply, I walked in with a previous "styling" disaster and had completely lost hope. Eve was confident that proper highlights and a cut to "repair" my previous "style" would restore my swag. She completed the highlights and was a real pleasure to speak with as the color set, continuing to provide very insightful hair care advice. Eve's work was amazing-the highlights looked so natural and didn't look streaky-it blended perfectly with my natural hair. I NEVER write reviews but I had to sign up to Yelp just so people could know how AMAZING this salon is and how amazing my stylist Nina is. Everything about this place is divine. I've never had an experience quite like this. The salon itself is beautiful, modern and very clean. As soon as you walk in you feel very welcome. Nina, my stylist was friendly, understanding and attentive. I walked in with brassy, horrible split ends and walked out with raven, flowy, healthy hair again! A beautiful salon, I was a bit skeptical because of the fact that I usually go to a barbershop to get a cut, but i was in a dire need of a cut for a party. My usual barber wasn't in town, so i gave this place try and i have to say they are very good at what they do. I had Eda as my stylist, and I have to say she did exactly what i wanted. I came into my party with compliments for how i looked. They also sold me for how i was treated very well. They served me a cappuccino and while washing my hair i got a great head massage. Just went there yesterday! I have semi-curly hair, very thick, and have struggled to get cuts that hit the right length, and struggled to get bangs that fit the style I want without a ton of daily styling. Decided to book an appointment on a whim after work and Teresa totally took care of me! I usually struggle to explain what I want but she figured it out quickly, did the cut in no time, and it's one of the best cuts I've had. I went to John David De Louise salon a few times and Anna is really professional stylist and a great person. I absolutely adore this salon. Hands down one of the best in NYC. Firstly, their extensive variety of hair care products; I'm talking top of the line, Moroccan Oil, Kerastase, A&G, etc. Atmosphere is very clean, modern, and hip. I have been going to Eda for haircuts and blowouts for about 4 years. She is a miracle worker. My hair is a frizzy disaster and she always makes it look perfect. It even stays smooth when it is humid out. She is also very personable and sweet. The price went up slightly when they moved locations but still worth it for such a nice blowout! Eda is the only person there who has done my hair, so I cant review any other stylists but I highly recommend Eda! read more

I've been going to Eda for a few years now and absolutely love her work. I have gotten my hair blown out, colored, cut and have had treatments. She can pretty much do any style - and it stays! I've seen Taylor for my cuts and extensions and Mariel for my color, and both have done a great job. They've really taken time to understand what I want, particularly for my wedding this past summer. I also really like the Aveda products, I can definitely see a difference in my hair texture and ends.

I spent a significant amount of time researching stylists because after a bad cut, I specifically wanted someone who appeared to have the technical knowledge and understanding to properly reshape and correct curly hair. Unfortunately, this has to be one of the worst haircuts I have received in my life. Right now I look like John Lennon's son if John Lennon hated his son and cut his hair with a blindfold. I explicitly warned the stylist multiple times that my hair is very curly and that even removing a small amount of length would cause it to spring up significantly. Those concerns were ignored completely. After washing and styling my hair myself at home, it became extremely clear that this stylist does not know how to properly cut curly hair or bangs at the level that should be expected from any professional stylist, especially one working in a NYC salon positioning itself as technically skilled. The layers are uneven, mismatched, and dramatically shorter than discussed. Even after straightening it, the result looks nothing like the portfolio work shown on this salon's website and is not flattering to my face whatsoever. I feel like a little boy vs a 36 year old woman. And an ugly one at that. After asking friends later in the night, even the people you would expect to say "oh, it's not that bad, don't worry about it" had the same reaction: "wow, absolute massacre." That honestly confirmed for me that this was not me being overly emotional or "not understanding" an alternative haircut. The cut is simply technically incorrect for what was requested. What made the experience even worse was the patronizing response when I expressed concern. Instead of listening, I was asked, "Oh, do you not like it because it's alternative?" No. I do not like it because it is objectively wrong for what I asked for. This was not an issue of personal taste or being "edgy." It was a technical failure to properly execute the cut, listen to concerns about curly hair shrinkage, and create a shape that works for my face and texture. It is also very strange to me that in a city like NYC, where salons position themselves as highly skilled and specialized, direct client feedback is apparently treated as some kind of attack rather than part of the job. A client expressing that something is uneven or not what they requested should not cause defensiveness, gaslighting, or attempts to reframe the issue into a personality problem. If a salon cannot handle one sentence of direct feedback without trying to psychologically flip the situation onto the client, that says a lot. There is something genuinely strange happening in a lot of NYC salons right now. So many stylists do not listen at all. They do not take the time to actually study someone's face shape, texture, proportions, or how the hair naturally falls. Instead, it feels like many are applying the same default haircut method to every person who walks in. Hair should be a craft. It requires attunement, restraint, observation, and critical thinking. Especially with curly hair, you cannot approach every client with a copy-paste technique and expect good results. This is not a small correction either. Because of how much length was removed and how curly my hair is, this will take months to grow out properly. I also attempted to contact the salon directly via email and received no response 24 hours later.

He was honest in telling me that at least 3 inches of my hair needed to be cut, and assured me that with the right cut and color he could compliment my hair to my facial structure. I proceeded to get a highlight style in the form of Balayage after showing Michael multiple pictures online of styles I always admired but never taught I could pull off. The end result was miraculous. The color was absolutely perfect and the even though the hair was a little longer than shoulder length, with the perfect layers and cut it felt as if this hairstyle was what I always meant to have.
