One of my favorite places to get my wax on! Travis is a doll. I love his conversation and technique. The space is on capital hill and yet it is surprisingly easy to find parking. The atmosphere of the spa is really peaceful and pleasant. They have really cute man panties of you like that sort of thing (which I do). And there is also a really lovely light room/sauna that is so nice and warm to sit in before you get a facial. Truly relaxing and soothing. read more

In my five years of getting Brazillians, I can say that Travis was the only one that didn't hurt. Yes, of course, you feel it, but somehow, he is able to distract you, be quick and pull in the right direction and assess which parts of you get cold wax, which get hot, and it all works out. Ok. Gulp. This is my first Yelp review and it is about a very personal subject. Let's just say that I would not be writing this review if my experience wasn't so AMAZING. This is going to be long and personal so buckle up, folks. First off, like another Yelper mentioned, I never thought I would get my lady parts waxed by a GUY...In fact, I had a bad experience with some waxing awhile back that made me swear off the procedure entirely. We all know that it's a painful process, but in my case I almost had to go to the emergency room and get stitches in my vajay. I do still get my eyebrows done though, and that's all I had planned to do at Salon Dewi that day. First off, the location is difficult to find, but once you get inside, it's like being in a magical underground world where beauty is created. The whole salon is gorgeous, and Travis patiently put me at ease by answering all my questions about everything in the shop before I even went in the waxing room. And I do mean everything... Where did you get this? Where did you get that? Did you make this yourself? What is THAT thing that looks like a giant handbag? ( it's a temple bell). If Travis wasn't such a great waxing specialist, he could be a great interior designer too, but that's beside the point. The point is that he is just such a naturally open and honest person that I fessed up to him about my past waxing injury, and he was so professional about it, that he wasn't even horrified. He knew exactly what they had done wrong, (which was to use the wrong type of wax, and that the waxer probably hadn't been trained properly) and he explained it to me and told me how it should have been done correctly. After he waxed my brows, which was the least amount of pain I have ever had with a brow wax, he also colored them a little bit to make them look better, because they are pale. I don't know how he managed it, but there was no redness like I usually have after a brow wax either. Then, he asked me if I wanted to let him see what was going on downstairs. I was still hesitant, and very self conscious because I hadn't planned for a downstairs wax. But, I knew in my heart that I really should do something about the grooming situation, so after a few more questions that Travis answered very professionally and honestly, I decided to go for it, since the brow wax had gone so well. After he left the room so that I could prepare, I almost chickened out again, but I had heard that Travis was the best at this so I decided that it was now or never. Since I've already written a novel, I'll try to wrap it up by saying that I don't ever think that Brazilian waxing can be pleasant or painless. There was still pain involved, and of course I felt extremely awkward at first, but Travis was quick, and professional, and totally put me at ease so much that I was actually laughing through my pain by the time it was all over. Then he gave me a nice comforting hot towel to clean up with, and the worst part was over. The pain dissipated very quickly afterwards with no bad after effects, and Travis also set me up with some "no bump" solution which is working very well 2 weeks later. By the way, I am from San Diego and I was on vacation when all this went down. Now I don't know what to do without him. I guess I will be racking up some Southwest points unless he opens up a place closer to my home, because he is the ONLY person who is going to wax my lady parts after this. read more

I've been going to Travis for a few years now & am always a happy customer. The spa is very inviting with a calming atmosphere, candles, Buddha statues & relaxing music. Travis is a fabulous esthetician, he's gentle & uses products that are great for my sensitive skin. He's thoughtful & listens to my skin concerns to evaluate the best products to use & gives me instructions for at home care. He's had this business for over 10 years (through a few moves) & has a great reputation. They have a website where you can book appointments online instantly, it's super convenient when I don't want to play phone tag. But when I do call & leave a message, Travis is quick to call back & is super accommodating when I have to make changes. I've been getting waxed for many years, but have never had an esthetician worthy of being my one and only. I would go to whatever salon could fit me in that day. That is how I found Salon Dewi. My brows were turning into caterpillars and I needed an appointment, stat. They fit me right in 2 hours after my call. I've never had a better experience. Marie, esthetician extraordinaire, gave me the most professional wax job I've ever had. She got in there with a surgical lamp, made sure every last stubborn hair was gone. I was talking to her about my horror experience of ending up with a pimple mustache after an upper-lip wax a few months ago, and she just said "trust me... let's do it." She used a different type of wax (I had no idea there were different types of wax), and she was right. My eyebrows look great, my upperlip is smooth and pimple-free. I was only red for about an hour after the wax. I won't even experiment with other salons now, Salon Dewi is SO great. read more

I love love love Eri. I have never had any waxing done other than my eyebrows. I have walked longingly by this Salon for three years. After realizing it can be tricky to schedule a Saturday massage in Seattle (many places are booked for months in advance), I decided on Salon Dewi. I chose the Hot Stone Massage with Tiana Joy. First of all the new space on 14th is gorgeous. Even the bathrooms are beautiful. My massage room was all purples and olive greens with red candles, bamboo (?) floors and yummy, soothing aromatherapy oils. Tiana is a pro and the entire experience was very positive for me. She worked on my shoulder stress knots and gave me some input about other muscular areas that need attention (very informative). The hot stones were amazing and they allow your body and muscles to really relax into deeper work. The back, hand and neck massage was especially wonderful. Prices are reasonable/standard for Seattle. read more

I love this place and I'm not a waxing girl. I like to do my own trimming of the verge, thank you. I come for Eri's facials, she's very gentle and very through. They have a cute little sauna you can sit in before you're scrubbed, the website is great and they do lots of fun seasonal specials and community type things (like the holiday food drive at present). I've had three Brazillians here so far and the jury is still out.... PROS: Parking is a huge plus Brazillians are QUICK and the staff is so friendly that it goes by fast The wax they use is different and I swear it hurts less CONS: They leave a lot of hair behind! When I go to Wax On I'm smooth smooth SMOOTH but at Salon Dewi I can still feel little hairs and usually have to follow up and pluck myself. For $70 that shouldn't be happening So, I'm torn. Yes, it hurts less but the tradeoff is an incomplete job. I think I'll head back to Wax On next time... read more

Eri is the best ever! I've been in Seattle for 4 years, tried several spa for waxing... Erin is the only one that make me come back twice. She works on week end, she is fast, funny and really listen to you. I LOVE the fact she give me at the end of the waxing a wet warm towel for me to get rid of the wax leftover (she is doing a good job as taking it off but for somebody picky like me... that is so nice). I went here to get my first ever eyebrow waxing and I loved the results. Travis set up an appointment for me the same day and also did my wax. The entrance was a bit hard to find, I ended up calling them while out front to find the right door. It is a side door on the south end of the building through the parking lot. It probably would have been easier to find if I had driven, but it's not a big deal. Travis was very easy to talk to. I wanted something clean and professional looking, no pencil thin lines or extreme arches, and he gave me exactly what I was looking for.
