The salon is beautiful and the employees are friendly. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is because 1) they will upsell you on products when you color your hair, i.e. deep conditioners, shampoo etc. 2) I came in for color and haircut, they sat me down for the color and didn't think to ask me what my plans were for the haircut- I was getting a lot cut so no point in coloring hair that will be cut! I had to bring this to their attention, they were able to give me a rough cut before coloring, but I was surprised that I had to mention this myself. This salon is pricey but they treat you well- comfortable chairs, complementary drinks, hand massage and they call you a couple days after to be sure you are happy. Frustrated beyond belief! I just relocated to this area and was sooo excited to find an Aveda salon 5 minutes from my new house. I have been to an Aveda salon for the past 8 years where I used to live in SoCal so I figured that my experience would be top notch as expected. First impressions were great! They even offered wine!wow, the Aveda salon in CA didn't offer that :) Then it all went down hill! 15 minutes late to be brought back (not a huge deal mind you) The colorist was super nice, she gets 5 stars! I asked for a bang trim before color got started, I've done it this way for the past 8 years, they can't do that here because colorists don't cut hair, I would have to make a separate appointment with a stylist, ok, annoying but not the end of the world right? They charge you $18 for a bang trim, err what? I've never been charged for a bang trim with Aveda salons which takes all of 2 minutes tops! I get a bang trim every 2-3 weeks depending on my work schedule, $18! On top of that they are also charging me $14 extra because apparently they have to use more color on me! Wow! What?! Take me back to my Aveda salon in CA please!! They never charged for bang trims or extra color! This is gouging!! I'm paying more here for the same services I got in SoCal, I went to them every month for 8 years, I am always a very loyal client. When I mentioned to another girl that I probably would have to find a new salon based on the gouging, I got an "ok" hmmmm - I'm so frustrated oh also, they don't have mirrors at the color stations and there are price ranges, so I do t know what I'm paying until I'm in the chair?? After moving from Long Island, New York to Orlando, I had to find my new Aveda Salon, which is the type of salon I was previously going. I found Salon Dulay and was very well accommodated, after making a last minute appointment for a color retouch and hair cut/blow out. Amanda was my colorist and aside from being a very nice person, she did an awesome color!! Thank U AMANDA!! I requested that Jason cut my hair, since it's long and that seems to be his specialty according to other reviews :) Another FANTASTIC service!!! First, he consulted me on how I'd like my hair etc and then the cut!! BEAUTIFUL!! Jason was fun to talk with, intelligent and very knowledged, which was refreshing :) Both, Amanda and Jason, asked quite a bit of questions of me, prior to doing their magic, and obviously listened because they DELIVERED!! EVERYONE was smiling, friendly,, accommodating and it was an overall, very pleasant experience, even with my whiny 10 yr. old (going on 25) daughter OY, NEVER AGAIN!!! LOL Even the shampoo girl, who gave me a nice hand massage, was an absolute doll!! Aesthetically, this salon is very pretty. It's modern, clean, very sleek looking yet comfortable. Love the new reclining shampoo/wash chairs - very comfortable! They have a nice selection of Aveda products to purchase, which I did, since I use their products religiously :) I used a 20% coupon, which I printed from their website, always nice! I will UNDOUBTEDLY be back in about 5 weeks!! Can't wait to see AMANDA and JASON again, although, I would feel comfortable with just about anyone - they're all so nice. Couldn't be happier with my salon dulay experience. Found the salon on yelp and after really liking the cuts/color posted, I have it a whirl. Salon was clean, modern, and relaxing. Service was friendly, laid-back, and fast to ask if I wanted a drink. Complimentary hand massages was an added unexpected bonus. Kristine K (stylist) and Bernice (colorist) are a killer combo- they both did a thorough and detailed consultation and as a result of that and their talent, I loved my cut and color. Love this salon! I'm from the Buffalo area and was in the area for vacation and was needing a really great haircut for an interview back home that I wouldn't have time to get done when I came back. I called and made an appointment and they were able to take me the same day. I was scheduled with Brandon who is amazing, he was so friendly and knew exactly what I needed after having a bad haircut at home. All the employees were very kind (didn't treat me differently for being an out of towner) and especially when I had an allergy and was trying to figure out a plan for my hair. Being going here since 2012 and here is a quick review: Haircuts by Jason - Love. Ditto with Brandon. I usually get Jason, simply cause our schedules match. he understands long hair, can make them look Good and most importantly actually listens to his client. I can come up with some crazy ideas but he some how figures out what I actually want and makes the whole look good. Even when initially I went to him, utterly frustrated, and requested him to "chop it all off" He asked some pointed questions instead, did NOT chop it all off but made them look good instead. As anyone with long hair knows, a good cut makes all the difference, and Jason can cut! :-) Now for the not so good: Hair coloring. If you have sensitive skin please take note! Initially the person who did it was good, then the colonists changed (perhaps the formula too) and it has been an unpleasant experience since - roots still showing, seriously itchy scalp, go back for retouch to get them to "fix" it.. Nothing works. During the last visit even after I asked them to wash it off, it's been itching, it's been too long etc.. Either they are too busy to shampoo or they think leaving color on for really long periods is better.. I don't know. But I ended up with the most severe reaction yet. I have sensitive skin, told them that on my first appointment. The girl who used to do it, whatever she did they would come out fine, no issues. But after the severe reaction I ended up with the last time, I had to find my self another salon and colorist. Sigh. I like this salon, love Jason and Brandon but will not get hair colored there again, the results are just not worth the pain. All the stars are for the cutting, dinging a star for the horrible coloring experience. read more

Genuinely disappointed with my haircut. I went in to get a bob like Hayden Panettiere has, and came out with what felt like a bowl cut. Instead of angling down towards my face, the way most bobs do, my hair is all one length. Being shy, I didn't mention go my stylist my disappointment, but I will say I won't be using this salon again. For hair that should've been almost touching my shoulder, it is up next to my ear. I also left with uneven hair, where some strands hung almost an inch longer than the cut. I've used Aveda salons for years now, and I was quite disappointed for the amount of money I spent and the below average hair cut I received. read more

Horrible client service. Every single time I have an appt they run at least 15 minutes late. When making a reservation they told me a different time then what they scheduled. I wrote down the time and I would never have booked an appt on the quarter. Even with the wrong time I was 10 mins different and they would not honor my appt. this tells me that they do not schedule appropriately. I only come to this salon for the occasional blowout as I had my hair cut previously there and was not happy with the outcome. I will not be returning and I will not recommend this salon. read more

I've been in Florida for awhile now and haven't been able to find a salon I really liked. Now, awhile ago, I was in a wedding that had us go to an Aveda salon and I really enjoyed it. So seeing this one close to home, I decided to give it a shot. Thank God I did. The staff is super informed and really sweet. I found a great stylist who did awesome things with my hair. The free drinks (including WINE!), the great products, the make-up touch ups they do after your hair (seriously. The hot towel made my skin red, so they put powder over it.), the hand massage, all of it guarantee I will be going here from now on. The price is definitely a bit higher than you might get at like a SuperCuts or Ulta, but I really think it's worth it. But then again, I work for Disney, so I get a discount. BONUS! Great place. I will be saving up for their Brazillian Blowout. Definitely recommend. read more

This is not a kid friendly place at all. Since they can't charge allot for kids they avoid by giving a level 3 stylist so you pay allot for kids hair cut or walk out. Very friendly place for adults but not for kids. After scheduling an appointment they made my son who is 3 year old, to wait close to 2 hours.?even after that the level 1 stylist (Aliana) was not happy to do kids hair cut, since she was getting walk in adult clients. After that when we tried to get another appointment, she lied to us saying she is sick and postponed our appointments 3 times. Later they told all they can give is level 3 stylist. We found out pigtails at Dr philips, which was so awesome. My son loved it even we as parents. This Salon lost all our business, I normally go there to do hair cut, color, wash etc, even my mom and hubby did there. Now we found better a place in Dr philips for better service. My advice never take kids to this Salon, they ll give a lollipop and be nice first time after that, true colors will come out. This all happened to me after being there 3 times. I was very excited to go here, however, I probably won't go back. The staff was welcoming and nice enough, but I wasn't impressed with my hair cut. I've had better cuts from less expensive salons. Plus, this salon is just far enough away from house that it's inconvenient when I wasn't truly satisfied with my cut and blow dry. I also color my hair, but have a PPD allergy. I thought Aveda hair color would definitely be PPD free, but it's not. What was even more of a concern to me was that the hair color specialists didn't know what PPD was, and had to call the "hotline" to see if it contained PPD. If this is near your house, definitely give it a try. The salon is gorgeous and the staff are really nice. It just isn't going to work out for me. read more

I tried several different hair salons when I first moved to Orlando, and none of them were very impressive until I found Salon Dulay. I receive excellent service every time I come, both from the front desk staff and from the stylists. Christy is my stylist, and she's fantastic! Whether I want to cut my hair short or grow it out, she always knows how to cut and style my hair to make it look fantastic! I've never gotten a bad haircut from her. She recommends products specifically for my hair type, but she's never pushy about getting me to buy them (Although I do buy the product she recommends, and I've never found another product that works as great as this does!). And she's great to talk to, always very friendly and engaging. Amanda Nicole usually does my highlights, and she's also terrific. She offers great recommendations for my hair type and skin tone, and it always comes out looking better than I imagined no matter which color I choose. Although it's a little pricier than other places I tried, you get what you pay for, and Salon Dulay is well worth it. I'll never go anywhere else! read more

Came in because I had a gift card. My stylist was Melanie, she was great! I got a "makeover cut" because I got 6 1/2 inches cut, my price was $80, which is on the high end for a basic hair cut. Ended up buying a repair damage product for $30. It's a great cut, it's well worth it if you have the money to spare. read more

I liked the salon, very modern and the girls all looked like they knew how to do hair. I felt like I got more for my money here because they include the shampoo and blow-dry in the price of haircut plus they throw in hand and arm massages and hot towels. (All for the price of a shampoo+cut somewhere else) It kind of made getting your hair cut a spa experience. I was a little disappointed in my haircut. I had Kristine and she was really friendly and sweet but I've never had such a boring haircut. I could've described it wrong or something, or she could have misunderstood me, but then again there were a few things I specifically told her I wanted and reminded her about that she didn't do. I would definitely recommend at least bringing in a picture. Then I'd say your chances are probably still pretty good here. read more

really liked the girl that did my hair but they did not listen to what i said i wanted done- it ended up over 2 inches shorter than i said- it barely hits my shoulder now when i asked for it to sit just below my collar bone, not above. they never told me a quote of how much it would be so i'm thinking i'm going there for a $30 cut and get told after that it's $50, when its too late to do anything. a good stylist should ALWAYS double check the length with you that you want before chopping away- i didn't know it was so short until it was too late- she had me facing away from the mirror most of the time. now i have a haircut i didn't ask for AND had to pay $20 more than expected. a person should be told ahead of time what they are agreeing to. this is not good business practice and i left feeling defeated and stupid that i couldn't do anything. read more

I love how Jason always manages to get my hair right! Never goes crazy with the sheers and cuts off three inches just because just like that salon I went to last! He asked and always LISTENS to the wants and needs and always leaves me feeling brand new and great after my hair appointments! Amanda would always so my color and get it right, never argumentative and or aggressive, there were never any questions about her skills and or ability to LISTEN and get it right the first time! I have never had to go back because of a bad hair cut or unwanted color in my hair. Richard would always greet me with a smile and was great to always see him at the front desk. The staff is kind and sooo very talented. I wish that Jason and Amanda who used to do my hair were still here as I would have never gone elsewhere otherwise. Not bad, not great. I came here for the first time and the shampoo person toured me through the salon (very nice) but then washed my hair BEFORE I met my stylist. So there I was, meeting my stylist for the first time with wet hair. When I first moved to Orlando and was on a search for a new salon, I went to one other salon that did this and I never went back there. A truly professional salon/stylist meets with you first, gets a look at your hair, seeing how you have it before it's washed, checking how it lays, etc., asks what you like/dislike about it, and talks to you about what they might be able to do/not do FIRST. Skipping this, especially on a new client, is disrespectful of both my time and money. It's really too bad because the cut is nice and I could have given a higher rating if it weren't for that. However, as it was, I didn't ask for what I really wanted because of this. Instead, my nice cut could have been a great cut, or better yet, a great STYLE. But instead, it's just a cut. You can get away with doing this if someone has long hair and just wants a trim, but for hair that is shorter and styled (and they asked the length when I booked), it's not good service. I'm on the fence over whether or not I'll return here. I came here because of scheduling changes at my old salon that have made it tough for me to get into my regular stylist. I may keep looking. Also, this is one of those salons that does not allow you to add the tip to the bill (need cash or check). I know this is becoming more and more common, but I can't understand salons that tout themselves as full-service/service-oriented, but inconveniences its customers with this practice. Does anyone actually carry a checkbook anymore???? My prior salon is also Aveda, and has the decency to allow me the convenience of putting everything on my credit card. I'm not sure if this practice is because of bookkeeping (they don't want to track the tips), or if they are too cheap to pay the credit card fee for the tip portion, but either way, it shouldn't be my problem. Stopped by at 10:30 this morning. There were 3 stylists and zero customers. I asked if I could get a haircut (simple cut...nothing fancy) but was told that they were "fully booked" for the day. I found out on their Yelp page that they are "by appointment only", but the fact that they wouldn't stoop to accept a walk-in when they had nothing else to do just smacks of hubris and snobbery. I hope that this message reaches the owner of the salon so that they are made aware of what their employees are doing and can make appropriate changes. For now, I'm recommending that people avoid this business. read more

If you are like me - I'm so low maintenance when it comes to my hair but I want to be blonde - go figure! So what I mean by that is I only want to do my hair twice a year - so of course my roots are going to show. In the past I have always had that nasty penny color happen to my hair and like literally clocks of different hair colors when it grows out - which nobody wants. I expressed all of these concerns to Amanda Nicole and she got the color exactly how I wanted it! I've never had so many compliments on my ombre look when it the roots do grow out - everyone is like omg your hair looks so good, did you just get it done. I'm like no - not since April and it was OCTOBER. She is amazing at what she does and she's always a pleasure to talk with and gossip when in the chair. Everyone greets you and makes you feel valued, plus I got free hot cocoa and chocolate covered pretzels. Look no further for a salon - this is the one! read more

I've been using salon's for 20+ years. I chose Salon Dulay because I love the Aveda products and the customer service from the minute you walk in the door until you leave. Everyone is very efficient and very much the expert in hair. Keep in mind all hair texture is different & sometimes things may not go as planned. But Salon Dulay does not want anyone leaving unhappy and is more than willing to try and make corrections. Keep in mind if you're on certain medications it can affect your color ... I've always known because I have a lot of hair it takes more color to do it ... I know my hair pulls very warm ... these things are important to tell your hairstylist. I've used several different people over the years for coloring & cut & blow dry. All very top notch and knowledgable. I feel pampered, and know that my hair is in good hands. I've had a few minor incidents but nothing anyone should get upset about. When a new person is washing your hair, speak up if you feel not all product is out of your hair. It's truly an easy fix and helps the person learn. The owner is very nice and hires very talented stylists from color, cut to blow dry & all that is in between. Not to mention the front desk staff! They are so friendly and accommodating from the minute I walk in the door. And just because your stylist recommend's a product for your hair does mean you have to buy it. Although I know my hair texture very well & my stylist and if she recommends changes then I usually go with it. I hope this helps someone. Because Salon Dulay is a premier Aveda Salon.
