AVOID THIS SALON. I…read morehad the absolute worst experience at La Jolie Salon & Spa. I left in tears feeling ugly and not looking like myself. I went in for a brow lamination and tint plus a lash tint. I was never asked what shape or tint color I would like. The tint does not match my hair or skin tone and the shape is not what I would have picked. The lash tint is jet black and left stains around my eyes - I look like a punk rocker raccoon. I never received post care instructions so when I went home I scrubbed my face to get as much of the tint off as possible. I know from getting laminations before that you cannot get them wet same day so this treatment was useless and a HUGE waste of my money. On top of not getting to advise on my service, during the service I was not treated with care. I was left in the room for random amounts of time on several occasions. I had my Apple Watch so I would see if the salon would come back to check on me when they said but the times were always extended which is probably why the tints are so much darker then expected. I cannot stress this enough - do not go here.

It comes with the territory. So I am "gun shy" you could say. However, I've now been to Odyssey five times and I can say with confidence that they are a very solid professional & talented staff. It's a modest looking salon. But don't be fooled. This salon has weathered 20 years and can boast a long list of devoted clientele. I was very clear about what I wanted my hair too look like. I wasn't coerced to believe that my hair could be transformed unrealistically. Instead, Jerry the owner, transformed my hair with out damage, false promises, or boastfulness but with skill and patience and a chemist's knowledge. He is a master. I am often complimented on my balayage hair. It's been a pleasant experience each time (and not for an exorbitant rate).

Then I said, please don't massage my hands, I have arthritis caused by my cancer drug. (You folks with estrogen positive cancer know which drug.) --She sprang back as if she'd burned her hands. She said, "You have cancer, you have ACTIVE cancer!!" Totally puzzled, I said, "I am a cancer patient, yes. It's not contagious." She then refused to continue. She left the room. I'm there on the table, naked and alone. Vulnerable in more ways than one. I got up and put on a robe, then headed for the front desk/lectern. There she was pestering the hosts. I looked at the hosts and said, "Probably 1 out of 3 of the women clients here have cancer or have had cancer. It's not contagious!" Hosts talked me back into going into the room with the dim chicken message therapist. But the experience was absolutely ruined. By that time I was 100x more anxious than when I walked in. I still paid because I felt too emotional and vulnerable to be angry and leave. NEVER, EVER GOING BACK, though. And I am warning you about the low mental level of therapists working there. I am not asking for genius, just common sense. Who would treat a cancer patient like that?

But what I received was completely different. The week of my 7 year old daughter's party, the salon was closed and my emails came back undeliverable. I panicked because I assumed they forgot about the birthday party. I had questions about the hair styling and other activities that was supposed to take place. The theme of the party was Kpop demon hunters and I wanted them to give my daughter a Rumi braid (being that it was a salon, you would think that was an easy ask?). When I finally received a call back, I was never given an answer about the hair. The day of the party, not only were there no extensions (for the birthday girl or anyone else), but the girl doing the hair looked like she's never done hair a day in her life (She even told me she was not a stylist!). She just did a simple braid on my daughter and I was really upset. For some other girls, she put a few curls with a curling iron and did nothing else. I am assuming based on my experience earlier in the week not being able to contact the salon that all the regular stylists were on vacation since the salon was officially closed. Not one of the 3 hosts had any enthusiasm and barely interacted with any of the girls. I had a few parents even say to me that they were very low energy. I think you can imagine how disappointed I was. One of the hosts did simple "face paint" where you could barely recognize what it was she was painting. She also left in the middle of the party - which I thought was very unprofessional. There was also absolutely no structure or flow to the party and everything was free for all. They advertise on the website "Stress-free and all-inclusive celebrations". This party was anything but. I was completely stressed and embarrassed the entire time. My daughter was disappointed about the karaoke. The kids were just grabbing the microphone and making noises. I was very overwhelmed and didn't know what to do. I had to stop the girl from doing hair to play the bingo game that I brought. There was no host-led dancing or other games. The salon had no cake knife or at least something to cut the cake with and the pieces were absolutely butchered. This party was clearly an afterthought and the only nice things about it were what I brought to the salon. It was embarrassing for me as the host and to have other adults notice too. The 3 ladies had no energy and looked like they didn't even want to be there. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I was also ghosted when I tried addressing these issues with the owner.
