Worst single process ever. My roots still showed lots of gray afterwards, and when I washed my hair lots of the color rinsed out. The colorist insisted on rinsing my hair in less than 30 minutes (despite my request to allow my roots to process longer). Waste of money. I am really disappointed with this salon Hair cut: I have been their customer for a year and received the best haircuts and styling services there. I always received a lot of complements on my haircut and styled hair. At the beginning of the May I decided to do the highlights there. I went for consultation first and then did everything that colorist Kelly recommended. Price: overpriced for the service.I ended up paying $600 dollars!!! And here is the breakdown : $250 for highlights +$130 for root touchup+$130!for tonning +$90 tip. I am going to receive each service separately: Highlights: I have a lot of hair which is dry , curly and thick . This kind of hair needs a different highlighting technique compared to blond hair. The highlights were thin invisible and almost non existent.(picture ).The colorist, Kelly, finished everything in less than 3 hours which is very quick for my hair. She was commenting : oh you have a lot of hair. Everyone confirmed that the results was very poor for $600!! Root touch-up: Absolutely waste of money. I got much healthier and longer lasting results with box colours. Before the end of week 3 all the grays were out while my root touchups lasts 5-6 weeks when I do that in salons and up to 4 weeks with box coloring. Customer service: I talked to the owner's wife on the phone and she was said things like mayor of Stamford is my client, we import best products from Germany, I have the best colorist in my salon and I am not my colorist Kelly who has a 7 month baby at home. The tone was like who are you to complain about my awesome services. I insisted to get refunded and met her in the salon. That iwas where things got really low. First she dragged one of her employees and that girl said she saw the whole coloring process and implied that I am telling the truth about the conversation between me and the colorist.Once I mentioned some other very similar experiences in the review section on yelp m, thar was written by people with the same hair type, Her response was: Have you looked at your own reviews?!!! Then she said let me take a look at your hair. She took me toTHE street and started touching my hair while we were standing on the pavement you see such low moves done by street barbers in ghettos!! Salon Shahin is a three storey building , still she decided to take me to street right infront of the salon saying: " I don't want my customers hear This conversation ". I insisted that I want my money back and I talked to the owner. Nice polite gentleman but he made it clear the money will not be refunded and he offered a complimentary conditioning treatment and a second appt to fix the hair. I came back to Nicole( his wife) and made an appointment for conditioning treatment for the following week. When I stepped in next week , I realized no appointment was made!!!!!?? I scheduled the appointments for conditioning session and second highlight session but I said I want to work with another colorist . The owner politely and gently, made me understand that I must work with the same colorist. He claimed that Kelly is his best and one of the most talented colorists in the salon. Second highlight: i waited a month and did the second highlight in June.I have worked in salons and am familiar with coloring and highlighting. Not an expert but know more than regular people. Black hair need special treatment for their red/ orange undertones .Also curly hair requires different highlights placement, hair sectioning patterns and placement segmentation (quadrants, slices, baby lights, weaves).This time around Kelly spend a good four hours on my hair but when she washed my hair the highlights were inconsistent( too yellow, orange, etc) So she used darker toning color and left it much longer on my hair . As a result , the inconsistency was gone but many of the baby lights turned dark again better but still pure results. The other problem is that If I straighten my hair the highlights show up but with my natural curly hair it s like somebody dusted color in my hair( picture) and highlighted strands blends in the dark background:This means that the colorist used the same segmentation, placement techniques she used for straight blond hair on my hair.simply means that she has no clue how to work with thick back curly hair. With the arrogant attitude of the owners, I don't think she will ever bother to learn and improve....AND THIS WAS THEIR BEST COLORIST. Health: My hair texture changed after the first highlight and damaged after the second one. I have had three trims and multiple conditioning appointments so far and still dealing with hair Thining and split ends .(proof in the pictures) Longevity: After two months, much of the color was gone and now my hair is turning to its base black with a-few strands here and there. Very disappointed. 1st appointment I provided a photo and explained what I wanted. My hair came out nothing like the photo or what I had asked for. When I expressed this to the stylist she argued with me about it so I simply paid and left. For $260 I felt like I needed to get the service I paid for so I called back later that day and they said they would happily fix it for me. 2nd "fix" appointment with a different stylist, basically had the same experience. Doesn't look anything like the photo I provided and the front of my face is not blended well- when I asked her about this she basically brushed me off. My hair got damaged from processing it so much and both times it came out Nothing like the picture or what I had asked for. And now the front looks even worse. And the attitudes from the stylists was not warranted- clearly it's a poor styling job. Will never go back. read more

My daughter and her maid of honor and myself, mother of the bride, had our hair and makeup done for the wedding last week and everyone raved about the results. We had our services at 10:00AM and at midnight not a hair was out of place and our make up was still intact. Amazing. We looked like movie stars! I never believed that hair and make up would hold up in 88 degree weather all day, (outdoor ceremony) but it did. Called to make an appointment week of June 1, scheduled for June 9 at 1215pm. Showed up at 1214pm to which they said I was very early and would have to wait. I said I thought it was 1215 and they said oh yes another customer came in 8 minutes late so she is behind. Asked if I could wait nearby and someone would come get me I waited around the corner for 30 minutes and still nothing. I approached the door and Gave them a shrug, then they came out and said it was just about ready. I left. Updated 6/16: The salon called me back and apologized for the inconvenience and even offered a free hair cut! I rescheduled and was able to go back and get a quick and lovely haircut. I have been coming to Salon Shahin for years, and my mother has been coming even longer. When I was a child I remember coming in and waiting for my mother, being offered cookies, hot chocolate, and other goodies as I waited.  Now that I'm an adult, I cannot imagine getting my hair cut anywhere else!  The salon itself its spotless, stylish, and smells great. As soon as you walk in the door you are treated like royalty. They take your coat, lead you to a curtained room to put on your robe and immediately offer you a beverage, coffee, cappuccino, wine, whatever. The service is exceptional! Today I arrived to my appointment early and was offered a free massage, manicure, and hair treatment. While I waited Justine did a deep treatment on my hair. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about both the products and methods.  She gave me some very helpful tips to make my hair healthier and longer (I have long hair, never dyed, that tends to run a little dry on the ends) and massaged my scalp. She even offered to have the on-site masseuse to give me a massage after my cut Tony always cuts my hair and he always does a fabulous job. He is exceedingly professional, friendly, and always know the best cut for my hair. I always leave happy and feeling fabulous. Every experience I had had here has exceeded all expectations. This salon was just as stellar - professional, friendly and (most importantly) knowledgeable stylists/colorists - for a much more reasonable price point! They listened to what I wanted, but made slight suggestions based on what they thought would be better. JUST TRUST THEM. My balayage and cut came out better than I'd imagined! They know what they're doing and they have a customer satisfaction guarantee. My fickle mind came back within their two week window because I wanted to go just a smidge darker, and they accommodated me without a fuss. At first glance, I was intimidated by this posh place - I love nice things and miss my lifelong salon in the Gold Coast area of Chicago but recent personal issues made me apprehensive. My first step inside - zero pretentiousness, a robe and whatever I'd like to sip on. I took a seat in the lovely "waiting area" and felt an anxiety attack about to come at me with a vengeance. I quickly hailed someone/anyone down for a glass of water to take my pill and try and calm down. No one thought I was being demanding and they seemed genuinely concerned. In walks Lorena, the stylist my neighbor recommended, who kept me upstairs to cut my hair to keep me in a "brighter atmosphere", who massaged my shoulders and scalp and used pressure points to get me out of the throes of my anxiety, who gave my hair some semblance of shape again. Thank you Salon Shahin and Lorena for not only helping me through (what I feel) an embarrassing situation but also for making me feel human again. So, i was so spontaneous with this hair appt... Wanted to go lighter with my highlights since summer is here and decided to check out the salons in my area DT Stamford, read the reviews on Yelp, and boom! Ended up at Shahin.... I was taken care by Anna and told her my wants... So, from talking about the right color for me i randomly ask her if anybody in the salon really knows how to cut curly hair (i have really really curly hair) i explain to her once again what i wanted, a fresh new look, SHORT!!!!! Super short!!!!!! Curly bob short!!!!! What the hell..... And she suggested her boss, supposedly he is the main man for cutting short styles and knows best with my type of hair... To make my long story short, he ended up cutting my hair and Anna doing my color. My end result: Looooooooooved it!!!!!! I couldn't believe that my hair cut came out SO good and edgy, specially for a CURLY HAIR GIRL like me.. I have never been 100% satisfy with a cut specially bc it wasn't done by a non Devachan dry cut specialist (any curly girl knows what im talking about) 2nd love, was my hair color.. Salon Shahin - Highlights and correction of root color at Shanin Salon. - Hair Salons Near Me - Stamford, Connecticut

This is such a great salon! I came on Saturday to see my regular stylist, Krystle, at her new space in Salon Shahin. From the get-go I was impressed with this space. The ambiance was excellent, the space is inviting, and the service was warm and friendly without being smothering. They also make a great cappuccino - complete with cinnamon sprinkle on top. As for the service, Krystle did an excellent job with a cut and high/low light; there's literally no one else I trust as much as her. The prices were more than reasonable for the service and the sinks are FANTASTIC. Kudos to whoever chose them. They are the only sink I've ever had my hair washed in that hasn't given me a kink in my already messed up neck. I also had my eyebrows waxed and while I think the downstairs ambiance is nice, the wax left something to be desired. The tops were done fine, but the hairs weren't trimmed and when I came home I found there were stray hairs that hadn't been waxed or plucked. I had to pluck them myself and while that's ok, it's not what I paid for. Every other eyebrow waxing I've had has also come with the stray hairs being plucked and the hairs being trimmed and evened up. If I'm paying $25 for a wax, I expect the full treatment - not stray hairs left behind. My final critique is that while I was receiving my service a woman came for her appointment and brought her 7 year old daughter with her. The girl was nice, but disruptive to the atmosphere. Many people come to the salon to relax but this little girl was shrieking about her water having lemon in it, she lost her tooth, she wanted the TV channel changed to cartoons, and just generally couldn't keep still and/or occupied. And I don't blame her, really, as a process at the salon can be 2-6 hours depending on what you're doing. I would encourage the salon to perhaps have a separate area for children where they can have some age-appropriate TV and aren't around patrons who are trying to relax (or, I would encourage parents to not bring their young children to an upscale salon where they are going to be disruptive to people spending hundreds of dollars on treatments in what should, ideally, be a relaxing atmosphere). So, while I would rate Krystle's service a 5 star experience, I am deducting a star from the review for the fact that I had to remove hairs from my own eyebrows after paying for the service and the mild headache I received from the unattended little girl in the dryer section. I'll certainly be back, though, and I certainly recommend this salon above the others I've been to in Stamford. read more

My appointment was at 11.30 , however, I was a little early and the staff was kind enough to let me in and wait. The staff was really professional and they are taking all the measures necessary for maintaining social distancing and hygiene. Overall, I am happy with the service. My first cut was what I wanted. I like to keep my hair long and need occasional trims. Second visit, I left feeling very disappointed and won't be going back. Elaine cut my hair both times. I'm back to my search of a competent hair stylist that knows how to measure. I wish it wasn't so difficult to find. 2 inches often ends up being doubled to 4-5 inches. Pretty disappointed. I had gone in with brassy blonde hair that was pretty damaged. I wanted to go more light blonde with highlights only. The hairstylist said she wouldn't do highlights because she didn't want to damage it more and would do a color remover and a glaze. I said fine, disappointed I wouldn't be highlighted but happy the rest would be removed and the glaze would make the hair look healthier. However, she asked if I wanted bright or ashy blonde and I said ashy. After the glaze, I'm totally brunette. I told her I was really disappointed because I lost the blonde I had. She hadn't told me that if I went ashy, it would make my hair brown. She and two other stylists told me to come back in a month for caramel highlights and that I couldn't have light blonde highlights for a year because of the dance to my hair--then why wouldn't you say that before you start messing with my hair?? I walked in a brassy blonde wanting blonde highlights and left a brunette who was still charged full price ($260) for hair I didn't want and don't like. Everyone was nice, but I am so disappointed and very miffed that I was charged the full price for a color I didn't want and was unhappy with. I get that people are struggling with Covid but you still have to deliver the product customers want, and if you don't, you can't charge them half a week's salary for something they didn't ask for. read more

I went to Salon Shahin last Saturday for a skin-clarifying facial. It was my first time there so I wasn't quite sure what to expect aside from when I've read on Yelp. I parked in the Target parking garage and walked over. It's a very pretty salon. Clean and busy and the hair salon all takes place upstairs and down stairs is the spa end of it. The girl at the front desk gave me a half smile and led me downstairs to have a seat while I wait. As we walked through I noticed a lot of people with the drinks they offer complimentary and I was happy to see that seeing as my appointment was early and I was dying for some coffee. I wasn't offered anything. The girl that did my facial (I think her name was Jackie or Jaclyn) Was nice. In my experience of getting a facial, especially if I'm there for a skin clarifying facial, I've been asked what my skin care routine is and maybe get to the problem of why my skin is at the point for needing a facial to clear it up- but she just asked if i was allergic to nuts and jumped right in. The whole thing was fine up until the steam machine (half the reason you go to get a skin clearing facial) was broken. so she used a hot wash clothe. and the facial was a half hour..not an hour like I had requested. I was under the impression they would acknowledge the fact that I didn't get use from the machine and do something for me and that didn't happen. She didn't give me any advice for my routine she just said 'wellp i hope your skin gets better !" ..... yeah me too.... I paided an extra $30 because she treated it like a custom facial as apposed to the $110 facial I thought I was getting. I could have save my $140 and gotten a better SKIN CLEARING facial at home. my skin didnt clear..it didnt change at all. The staff was snooty as I was leaving I dont suggest going here. I will not be back. I'd rather talk to a stop sign for more glamorous entertainment and lay in a puddle on the side of the road for a stimulating skin experience. I came here by recommendation from my friend and I am so glad I did! I called Saturday after my workout, and they had me in in an hour, which was fantastic and earned instant brownie points in my book. You walk in and feel like an instant celebrity... Yes I'll have a mimosa or two AND a cappuccino.... I thought you'd never ask. Everyone working was extremely professional, and the stylist I was paired with, Trisha, really knew what she was talking about... It's always a relief when your hair stylist will do the thinking for you. I am extremely happy with my hair and the timing of everything...My past salon would take 3.5 hours for a full head, I was in and out in two hours at Salon Shahin. Also, first service you receive 20% off your bill. i opted instead for some fancy shampoo/conditioner to keep my hair fresh for longer. I have been to three other salons before this one and this is BY FAR THE WORST COLOR I HAVE EVER GOTTEN. DO NOT GO TO TRISHA...she is as very nice woman and I have nothing against her personally but I asked her to warm up my blondes and to do my roots. Now my roots are greyish and I am crying in bed due to how horrifying it looks! THEN I'm assuming a trainee dried my hair, AWFUL! He left some parts wet and it was crazy frizzy in the front. I've been getting my hair done at Salon Shahin for about 6 years (it could be more - I have honestly lost track). Even when I lived in NYC I would make the trek on the weekends to get my hair done here. All the stylists are professional and very friendly! They always make me feel right at home (and are more than accommodating when I have to take the late slot on Thursday nights, and more often than not - end up shutting the salon down...). :) Before I came to Salon Shahin, I was going through the process of finding a good colorist to get my very dark hair to the blonde I love. Unfortunately, my journey resulted in my hair starting to break off and I had to dye it back to brown so I wouldn't be completely bald. I found Salon Shahin, got back to blonde, and have never looked back! When you're getting your hair bleached/colored every 5, 6, 7 weeks - you need people you can trust to take care of it. Considering all of the torture I put it through, my hair is pretty healthy and most of my friends don't even realize that I'm not a natural blonde. I decided to try this salon for a mani/pedi. I bought this deal from Groupons to try out this salon as I am new to the area, and am looking for a great place to get a good pedi. The manicure was nothing special. They didn't do a paraffin wax which was disappointing. The hand massage was a joke. As far the pedicure, although the massage again was a joke, she did a great job of removing any calluses that I had. My feet were very smooth afterwards. This is the first salon that I have been to that actually made my feet smooth after a pedi. I would give a rating of 4 or 5 stars if I received a better foot massage. I expected more from such an upscale salon. I will not return here for mani/pedi, but maybe for hair in the future. read more

However, I will give you some background: My hair story has been a long and winding road. I have always been blonde, first naturally and then in High School I started getting highlights. Upon entering college I was confused to why people didn't take me seriously, like they did in my hometown, and immediately decided it had to be my hair (rather than, like, my actual behavior). I went back home, died my hair brown, cried for an hour and died it blonde again. The breakage was so severe that I ended up with a mullet. No matter what I did and where I went to get my hair done, my mullet followed me for four years. Until I found Salon Shahin. There is a reason I live in Brooklyn and come all the way to Stamford to get my hair done. Salon Shahin is simply the best. I have been coming here for years and cannot find anything Like it in all of NYC!!! Even though I've been coming here for years, I'm treated like a new customer everything time I come in. My coat is immediately taken and I'm offered an array of beverages ( cappachinos, lattes, red wine) . There is never a wait. The ambience of the salon is extremely stylish, relaxing and not pretentious. It's always spotless. The staff from the senior stylists to the students are all beautiful and "cool" if you will. The salon is definitely age friendly. I've seen 5 year old princesses to 90 year old customers all getting the same level of attention. My mother is 68 and doesn't like to spend money on herself EXCEPT on her hair at Shahin. So now let's talk about the stylists. While they all have different talents and I can't comment on everyone , I can highly recommend TINA and MARIE for color. I have extremely thick, curly hair that is very difficult. I discovered Trisha recently and she did WONDERS with my hair. She carefully analyzed it first and then took all the annoying bulk out of it and gave me gorgeous long layers. Melanie is also wonderful and gets thick, difficult hair. They all give the best blowouts at the end of every cut or treatment.
