Very disappointed. I got a gel manicure and there website said it lasts 2 +weeks. The nail person said 2-3 weeks. And the last time I had a gel manicure it lasted 3 weeks. But this time it started chipping 7 days after. When I called the salon to ask about this the girl who wandered said that its common to only last a week. I am very upset. I spent $70 on an mani and pedi. My toes look ok but my hands look awful. And now I have to pay them another $10 to get this chipping polish removed. I feel ripped off. The salon is an absolute gem. It's design is so unique that I would come back just for the experience of being in the salon. The problem I had was with my own personal haircut and color. I had many recommendations from friends to come to the salon and get my hair done. I wasn't given a name on who to request because I thought they were all amazing since the salon seemed to be so luxurious and of high quality I thought it wouldn't matter. But maybe I should be more careful. I came in asking for 4 inches off my hair because it was getting heavy and I just love getting trims every few months to make my hair feel healthy. Instead of 4 inches, I lost 6 inches which I wasn't really that upset about because hair grows back. I also asked for color and when it was deposited, I could barely see it but I recently had blond ombre so of course any color other than blond would be dark or so I thought. The big mistake I made was that I left without carefully inspecting because I was meeting someone for dinner and I didn't want to be late. So when I got home to carefully look at my hair, I had stair steps in my hair. I had asked for long layers but I guess it was interpreted as blunt layers in my hair and thats what I got, 3 stair step layers. I had to go to another salon to get my hair cut fixed and as well as colored. Maybe if I come back in the future I hope to have a better experience but this first experience has put a sour taste in my mouth. read more

I had a horrible experience getting my hair cut and colored. My stylist was so nervous the whole time. My cut was okay and what I asked for, but my color was a disaster. I asked for very cool tone blonde highlights. All I got was a chunk of new color that was brassy and did not match at all, and then the color on top of my old color was crazy. When it grew out it was even worse and was obviously several different colors. The stylist took a picture of my hair after and posted it to her Instagram without asking me. Getting my hair cut used to scare the crap out of me. When I was in my early teens, my mom would always take me to her salon in southwest Ohio -- a salon where the majority of clients had grandchildren and their specialty was the "can I speak to a manager haircut" (look it up). Every single time, I left annoyed and disappointed that the stylists never listened and didn't seem to know how to handle my very full head of ultra-fine hair. Right before we moved to Colorado, I decided to get it colored. Needless to say, it came out... not to my expectations... and so I decided I would save myself the trauma and avoid salons altogether. For years I let my hair grow out, trimming and coloring it myself. I then went on to briefly have a hair stylist that I loved at a salon that I hated, but then I moved. Cue many poor experiences at other salons, and another curse to the heavens that people with scissors just weren't to be trusted. Here's where Crystal comes in. I decided to take another chance, and was suggested I come to Salon Joa. Crystal is a *hair whisperer*. She asked me so many questions about how I wash it, how does it behave, how does it react to different drying methods, etc. She knew its ~secrets~. She even trimmed it in a way that adjusted for my hair's natural wave - something no one has ever done before. Most stylists have just straightened it, and used a volumizing brush that leaves my hair very fluffy. So, once I would wash it, the salon magic would fade and it would turn back into a pumpkin (or, a very mediocre hairstyle). Crystal cuts my hair in a way that she knows I'll be able to maintain easily. She also is really funny and easy to talk to, but always tells it to me straight if I'm not taking proper care of my hair. I didn't really understand people saying "my stylist" until her. read more

I was hoping to love this salon since it's right down the street, and I did! This is the first salon I've been to since moving to CO, but it's definitely in line with what I would expect for the price point. Crystal have me an excellent long layered cut to prep me for my upcoming wedding. On another date, I saw Melly for a pedicure (after going to the Sweet Life Nail bar in Stapleton which was disappointing). The entire process was super sanitary, calming, and I enjoyed the massaging, but elegant, bench I was seated at. Everyone was friendly, and I was super happy to see one of the stylists taking expert care of a young boy client (asking him what he wanted, explaining things patiently), treating him with as much care as an adult. Both times I was offered a drink when I arrived, and the ambiance overall is sleek, modern, clean, and spa-like. Good job Joa! read more

Overall a fantastic place. I really like getting a mens cut here better than several other higher end "men's" places (even the ones that give you free beer). They are very accommodating, quick, use scissors and layer the hair so it looks good instead of using clippers all the way around, which looks so much better as it gets longer.
