I will start off by saying I did get a nice haircut. But compared to the cleanliness of the establishment and the cost, I am not sure if it is worth the money. I got a trim and blow dry and the bill came out over $130. The place was not very clean and when I arrived there was still another's hair on my seat, as well as other people hair on round brushes and other styling tools. Mid way through the haircut the salon started to get hazy and smokey for a reason I was not sure of. I do think my stylist did a nice job though, if she were at a different salon I would most certainly go to her. read more

Girl, you need to get your hair done here. I have dark brown hair (and tons of it!) and was looking to shake things up with a blonde balayage. Having never gone lighter than a dark caramel, I was naturally very nervous and picky about finding the right stylist for this immense undertaking. After a 15 minute consultation with Alex, showing her some ideas I had found on Pinterest, I was confident that I was in good hands. We discussed my hair type, her method and products, and what was reasonable to expect from the balayage. I booked the balayage appointment for the very next week. Alex is a miracle-worker! She picked every foil placement with care and monitored the bleach process for the entire duration, reapplying where needed and constantly re-worked the foils/bleach where my hair decided to lighten unevenly to ensure a uniform, beautiful bleach. She routinely checked in with me to make sure I was comfortable and eased my anxieties. After the Olaplex treatment, Alex did something I had never seen before - she blended a darker toner (about my natural color) at the bleach line to seamlessly blend the balayage before adding a beautiful, ashy blonde toner. She achieved the exact blonde I was looking for! The level of care, professionalism, and talent here at Salon Milage is unmatched! I rarely post reviews, but this one is so long overdue. Salon Milage is such a great location for Brazilian Blowouts and Keratin Treatments. I've had both from all of the stylists that perform them and they are all so talented at what they do. They make you feel welcome and listen to what you're hoping to get out of your treatment. I have never had my hair damaged here, which is an amazing feat because I have very thin hair! The online booking is a breeze, prices are insanely reasonable for the quality of the service, and the customer service is outstanding. My treatments always last as long as they are supposed to with my hair more shiny, manageable, and less frizzy. Could not recommend this salon more! read more

Yesterday I realized I have a huge event next weekend, and I really needed to get my hair done. I hopped on Yelp and called around crossing my fingers for a cancelation or something so I could be fit in. I gave a run down of what I was looking for, and much to my surprise this place said I could go in right away. The woman on the phone said she personally was booked, but there was someone else who could fit me in. I jumped into my car right away and rushed on over. Only street parking available, but I lucked out and found parking right across the street. Initial impression upon walking in: this place needs a face lift. Small, with only three chairs and one sink. But based on the reviews, I was totally fine with giving this place a chance! The woman I spoke to on the phone sat me down for a formal consultation so we could go over what I was looking for. I learned from previous l experiences that sometimes I have a difficult time conveying what I want done, so I came prepared with a ton of pictures and made sure to be explicitly thorough. I wanted an ombré baylayage with face framing highlights to blend my existing grown out color, and tone the highlights to a bright, ashy tone. It seemed like we were on the same page, and the guy who was going to be working on me went to work. This salon primarily speaks Spanish. Not a big deal, but it could feel a bit awkward if you primarily speak English, as they communicated around me as opposed to directly to me. On the other hand you would prob feel comfortable if Spanish is your first language because you would be able to communicate with your stylist. About two hours later, color was set and I was washed and blowdried. As he blow dried, I knew it was going to have to be tweaked. There were no face framing highlights, and the tone was too brassy. He did do a good job matching the existing tones, but that's not what I asked for-- I wanted the existing tone to be brightened to a more ashy blonde. Like, as in the opposite of brassy. He also started the highlights too far up, so it was less of an ombré effect and more of a all-over look. I figured that was just going to have grow out. When I asked the woman who did my consultation if I could have face-framing highlights added and the tone brightened up a bit (per my original request), she immediately jumped into a defensive, attacking response, saying I was being really "demanding" and I should be grateful with what I was given since it was a Saturday when they were usually busy and a last minute request, and I had a lot of hair. Whoa-- excuse me? Why weren't any of these concerns addressed when we had our initial consultation? I wish she had just been honest from the get go, and I would have just called somewhere else instead of clearly wasting my time here. I was barely holding back tears, completely appalled by the lack of professionalism. She said they could add in some face framing highlights, but that's it. The guy quickly painted on a few more highlights, but these highlights were even worse than what he had originally given me-- stripy, bright orange, and not blended whatsoever. At this point I was so stressed, I told her I honestly just wanted to leave. She tried to calm me down, and said if I waited 20 minutes, she would personally fix it. I had already spent 4 hours there at this point, I figured what's another 20 min. An hour later, she got around to me. (That whole hour they were going back and forth in Spanish about how unreasonable I was being, how the photos I showed them in the beginning were clearly photoshopped, etc etc. Surprise, this white girl understands Spanish. And I heard every word. Again, completely appalled.) She explained (again) how what I was asking for basically wasn't going to happen. I explained I wish they had just been honest from the get-go, when we had the initial consultation, so I hadn't wasted my time. She said that since I had driven an hour, she didn't want to just turn me away. I would have rather she left that decision up to me, ya know, since it's my time and my hair, but hey I guess I'm crazy. She was going to try to salvage the appointment with one last attempt at fixing things by taming the orange tiger stripes, and try to lighten up everything else as well. And she swore that after a few washes, it would continue to lighten up. Every other salon I've ever gone to they warn that over time your highlights eventually turn to a more brassy color, at which point you'll have to come in for toner to lighten things up. But hey, what do I know. Whatever she did didn't really help much-- still a far cry from what I wanted, not at all natural looking, but at this point I had already mentally thrown in the towel and just kind of accepted it was a lost cause. 6 hours and $150 later, I'm have to get this train wreck fixed at a much more experienced salon, somewhere who treats their clients with honesty, understanding & respect, and actually gets the job done right. read more

I had a great experience the first time I got my hair cut washed and styled here. So, I came back expecting the same experience and it was far from it. 1. I did not click the right button on the website to get my hair blown by the stylist, so she had her "assistant" (I think...) do it, while the stylist played on her phone at the counter directly behind me. 2. The "assistant" burnt my head with the hair dryer. I had to tell her to stop. When it got too painful to bear. Then the stylist came back to finish the drying. (She charged me full price after my head was Burt and visually red) 3. I did not like how my layers were sitting on either side of my head, and I was told "I would never do that to you, it is how she styled it". She talked loud at me and wouldn't let me get a word in... I am not sure what kind of service this is. I couldn't have been more polite and she seemed very annoyed that I commented in my own hair and asked her to even out my layers. I had an excellent experience here with Alex, the owner. I had a groupon for a partial highlight, and when I arrived, Alex told me the stylist who takes groupons was out sick, but that she was happy to take me and honor the groupon. She was friendly and welcoming, and apologized for making me wait only a few minutes. Alex took her time and explained the process for highlighting, and encouraged me to ask questions if I had them. She recommended a color, and she was right, it was perfect for my base color, and came out really pretty. Despite being busy and the fact I was a groupon customer, she took the time to blowdry my hair to show me the color, and to make sure I liked it. She also gave me tips on growing out my hair, which I'm trying to do. I'd recommend visiting Alex if you're looking for someone to take time and do a great job. As a certified BIG TIME scaredy cat when it comes to hair cuts, I am super appreciative of review websites that help me make a decision when new to an area, so here I am. It had been well over a year since my last cut, and after a horrible slashing of my hairs 3 years ago, I can sheepishly admit that cut a year ago was one of only two since the bad cut. Might explain my lifeless hair! While my 'do was the longest it had ever been in my life, and something I'd always wanted....as a kid my hair was kept super short because apparently insanely thick hair and a child who can't sit still for brushing makes for a Mom who won't allow length, I began to realize that I needed at least to get rid of some dead ends and thin out the unruly mess, or at most just go for it and have a chop. Enter the awesome Alex and her wee little salon. She was incredibly patient with me, had great suggestions, and truly made me feel confident that I made the right random choice of salons. Alexandra is great!!! I cannot be more thankful that I've found such a good hairdresser. I had extensions put in by another salon and it was an emergency that they be taken out because of severe tangling. I couldn't get an appointment at the other salon and I came across Salon Milage on google and asked for an appointment ASAP. Alexandra was able to accommodate me with no hesitation and even made my appointment earlier than the salon actually opens. She did me such a huge favor and I was so grateful. Alex is the best balayage stylist in Boston, hands down. I've gone to about 5 different salons and always got a subpar balayage and they never got the tone right. Alex fixed the unevenness of my old balayage and got it lighter with no damage. She also the first stylist to recognize that I cannot have ash blonde toned hair because it clashes with my pale skin tone. It sounds like a silly thing, but so many stylists immediately go for ash blonde because it's "in", but it doesn't suit me. Alex knew right away that I needed a neutral tone - for me that attention to detail shows her level of artistry and experience. She also helped me figure out why my hair gets damaged so quickly even when I don't use heat products and then recommended a routine to keep it healthy.
