Once again we were completely let down. My daughter went to get her hair done at noon and while she had a better experience in store this time, by the time she got home at 3:30pm after having her makeup done the entire hair do had fallen out and apart, it looked like hair spray had not been used at all and she had slept in it. I called to have it fixed which was accommodated, however, taking the time to once again head over when it should of been done correctly the first time was not ok and we truly didnt have time to do that. The lady in the front was extremely rude once we arrived and the entire do was pretty much redone in 40min.. We were late to our event and it really ruined our night. I cannot understand how we're paying for a professional to do these hair styles are told it's possible and are let down time and time again by the lack of professionalism and execution every single time. Wife came here a couple weeks ago $500! She came in asking for brown hair/light. Two weeks after hair is damn red now, wife specifically stated she didn't want red hair. Also before starting it was mentioned by the hair stylist that she was going to charge on how much bleach she would use, so my wife said " please cut my hair first so you don't use too much bleach product". She says no and goes on to bleach all my hair and than cut it, after wasting bleach product she didn't need to use and charge me for. root touch up is $120 that's crazy To trim hair $75 I'll just go to my kids hair Solon for $25 This place is crazy. read more

I have reviewed Karen Allen Salon before (please see previous), but feel compelled to provide another review. Recently, I asked for a complete color transformation. I wanted to go from the deep, dark brown with highlights that I have had for the last several years, to a vibrant coppery red. My stylist, Natalia Alvarez, was up to the challenge and talked me through everything. We looked at color samples, discussing how the colors I wanted could be best achieved given my existing dark color and highlights and the fact that my roots have a lot of gray when my hair grows in. Natalia and I made a plan, and Natalia executed it a couple of weeks ago. I was worried that the change might be too much for me, and that I might need some time to get used to it, even though it was what I wanted. As it turned out, I loved it from the first moment. I have received so many compliments on it, and it feels so natural to me. I wish I did it years ago. I cannot thank Natalia and Karen Allen Salon enough for once again making me feel fabulous! I love Aveda products, always have and I try to only get facials at day spas/salons that use Aveda exclusively. Now that I'm pregnant, it's more of a reason for me to switch completely to Aveda products due to the more gentle formulas in their products. As a Valentine's Day gift, my husband got me the Essence facial and peel, which I redeemed weeks later and was thrilled about because pregnancy acne has been driving me nuts. I got there, a few minutes late because of the rain, parking, rushing through the mall just to get there. However, Karen didn't seem to mind, she had me fill out a few things, she was very calm and offered me tea or water. She brought me into the back room for a foot bath (one of MANY reasons why I love Aveda facials) and asked me questions about my skin. We got to talking about my pregnancy and it was nice to hear she has had experience with being pregnant as well. Then she led me into the adjoining room for me to get undress for my facial. She came in a few minutes later and got started on my skin. While she had a mask on me, she massaged my arms and hands, lower legs and feet, and my scalp. I was in heaven. My one-hour facial went over but I loved that no one was rushing me out. Karen suggested a few products for me and I bought them all. I love using them everyday now. EXREMELY overpriced! I have never spent over $300 for a cut, root touch-up, and a few highlights. I have gone back 3 times, just to give the operator and the salon the benefit of the doubt, but have been disappointed every time. I leave there with dull, lifeless hair, very poorly blown out....seriously poor, color dull partially due to bad wash out, and then to get a charge of over $260 before tip...which I give even if the work was bad as I always feel for the stylist spending time with me. The staff here was nice and friendly and I truly honestly wish I could just leave it at that. I recently went in the beginning of January to get some sort of balayage ? When I went in my hair was very black and was obviously planning on going lighter, I would've assumed it would've took a few sessions to get my hair to where I wanted it, but all it took was one. One appointment is all it took for my hair to get completely damaged. My hair has always been naturally straight, when I'd take a look at my ends you can tell my hair was curly from the damage that was done, I rapidly started seeing ny hair fall out more than usual. My hair felt very dry and it was honestly very upsetting seeing my hair transform from one day to the other. The coloring as well was honestly not the best it was very very patchy. My hair was also very long passing a little more of my back, I recently chose to cut my hair and get rid of the damage. My hair is now up to my shoulders and you can still see some breakage on my left side which makes complete sense as HE started there first. As I was paying another staff member encouraged me to get hair control products because "we know your hair went through a lot today" I swear it was like the funeral for my fxcken hair.I really wish I was being dramatic but the amount of damage that was done has me insanely....oh and I was still suppose to go back for them to finish the highlights :) read more

This place is definitely an upgrade from where I went to before. Not only is it more chic, the prices are better too. I love love love getting my facials here. They do a great job with the extractions and the Aveda products (botanical kinetics) work really well for me. A 60 minute facial tends to run about $80 but it's well worth it! I bought their whole line of facial products and everyone has noticed a clear difference. The only problem I had was getting my eyebrows waxed here. Who would have thought that I'd have thin eyelids? It literally tore off chunks of my skin and I felt the burn. I didn't know what was happening at first but it seemed to cool down after awhile. My skin replaced itself and after three days, no one knew that I had a waxing mishap. I don't think I'll be getting another eyebrow wax anywhere for awhile. The haircut prices are reasonable. I'm always pleased with the cut. I bought the whole line of Smooth Infusion which does wonders for my hair. I'm not much of a talker when I'm at the salon and they seem to respect that and let me be. They offer a hand massage and beverage at every visit. They had a male stylist, named Nicholas, who did an outstanding job on my hair.
