I made an appointment with Julie looking for a total change. After a brief consultation on what she recommended, we were off to the color station where Julie prepared what looked like chemistry project. Julie is a very experienced, a great listener and a very pleasant person. I have a large amount of hair and Julie was extremely gentle making sure at all times I was comfortable. She is extremely professional and yet very down to earth to speak with. When she was done with the color it was time to cut off about 8" of hair that I wore up almost every day. Julie and I spoke about what options I had and we decided together a very different look. I could not have been more pleased. It's definitely a place I will go back to. If I could give a half a star I would. I hesitated to write this review, as I wanted to give them a second chance. The first time I made an appointment, they ended up changing it on me the day of. I planned out my schedule and day to go on my lunch break. I had to go back another time because they messed up The schedule. The second time I decided to walk in for an appointment. Afterall their sign says walkins welcomed. I did not feel that way. They told me they were closed, even though the door and daily schedule said they would not be closing for anothwr 45 minutes. This is a pet peeve of mine. If you post your hours, honor them. People plan their schedule around them. It is not professional otherwise. Got my hair washed, cut and dried by Courtney. She was fun, confident, friendly, capable, experienced, and she did a fabulous job on my hair. However, I did NOT expect to spend $53.00 plus tip to get my hair washed and cut. I should have looked for a Groupon or something. The service was great and all, but as a young student who just needs a haircut, I feel that's just a little too expensive. I have been a loyal customer with this salon for over 10 years and have always had amazing customer service experience. This visit however was not was not the case. So after multiple attempts of trying to reach the store by phone to make an appointment for today my phone calls and voicemails went unanswered. I went to the store knowing they allow walk in's. When I walked into the store my presence was not acknowledged and no greeting was ever done. After waiting for 10 minutes to speak with someone I was told they are all booked for the day and there was no time to for me to get a haircut done. Then after I mentioned about trying reach them by phone no apologies were made that they did not answer and simply gave me the impression of "oh well". Also, the salon is very clean and well maintained. The reason why I am only giving it three stars is because I didn't feel too welcomed there. I purchased a Groupon for highlights and a haircut. I came early to the appointment but still had to wait an additional 45 minutes. They told me beforehand that it would be an additional $10 for long hair which was fine, but when they rang me up at the end it was even more added onto the price. Also my hair is naturally very dark with red undertones. They had so few color choices and the highlights came out very red in the end. The cut was ok, but I mainly came for the color and it looks like I did it myself with a cheap box hair dye. They also cut way more than I asked. Their prices even with Groupon is way too overpriced. I expected a high end result but got an ok look that I could have gotten at a cheaper hair salon. read more

She allayed my feelings for what could have happened with my original appointment, but didn't because either I wasn't communicating my styling needs, or the stylist and I didn't quite mesh. I had trouble finding someone to cut my hair since I moved to NJ from the NYC. Male late 30's so barbers that shave my head don't cut it for me. I found Jeff at salon NV through a friend. Jeff is professional and awesome as a stylist,most of all he listens to what I want done even if it seems like the same thing every time. In fact I'm even happier with him than I was with my guy in NY. The salon is nice and since I only deal with one stylist I can't really comment on everyone else but the entire place is always running smooth, clean and on time with their clients. My stylist was Nataly and she was AMAZING!!!! My hair turned out exactly how i wanted it and she was so sweet and kind from the beginning to the end. She was fast even though she handled 2 other people during my appt. (She handled the other clients while i was under the dryer and when she applied my deep conditioner). Was recommended by a friend so unfortunately went in with expectations. Called to make an appointment and was quoted a price, which upon paying was asked to pay $20 more than what was quoted. The stylist I requested was no longer available and they gave me another one, who was not attentive (tried talking about what I was looking for and she was clearly in such a rush to get rid of me that she did not even listen when I was talking) and pretty rough (I know you get to the knots out but remember there's a head underneath that hair - this was the first stylist I went to that l was actually in pain while getting my haircut)! I recently bought a groupon for my mother for a haircut at NV Salon. She just called me today to tell me that her experience with Jaimie was horrible. She was very upset since Jaimie did not seem to listen to her requests, and also spilled some of her cut hair all down her back! I have been getting my hair cut at Salon NV for several years, having started there many years ago when Julie started cutting my hair. When she left for another salon I followed her there and then followed her back when she returned to Salon NV. I wouldn't think of letting someone else cut my hair! She now cuts my wife's and 2 daughters' hair as well. The salon itself is always clean and well run, and I don't think I've ever had to wait more than 5 minutes past my appointment time. If you have purchased Groupon (deep conditioning with haircut, blowdry snd style)then they wont give you perfect service. I had my haircut with Nataly. She didnt cut my hair properly at all. I asked her to style it in long layered with side bangs. She shredded my hairs from both the sides, didnt bother to match both the sides ends, didnt give perfect deep conditioning treatment, didnt style my hair. She didnt do backside layered, she cut it straight and i have to tell her to give me some layers in the back. Once she was done cutting my hair, she didn't even bother to ask me, how did i like it. Plus, they charged me extra $10 for my long hair cut, can you believe? I never ever going back for sure. Dont offer Groupon if you cant provide good service. read more

I heard about Salon NV from a few friends and when I saw a Groupon for highlights, I jumped on it! I'm so happy I did! The salon is very clean and inviting. The staff was courteous and helpful. My salon tech, Nataly, was informative and a pro when it comes to color! I've left salons with white streaks or orange when I've asked for honey blond on my light brown hair...this time I left with warm honey highlights! Her blow out was the icing on my cake! My hair is bouncy and healthy now :) I suggest making an appointment early rather than waiting until the day before, as this salon is busy and books up quickly. I was also pleased with their large selection of hair products that are also used during your appointment. These two stars are just for the sake of Jenny and Rachel! Jenny has cut my daughter s hair quite a few times. She knows and remembers the instructions from previous sittings and need not be told a thing. Rachel did an amazing job cutting and styling my hair. The last few trips to this salon is what is making me write this review. I did not get to have an apptmt with Jenny for my daughter, so I went with random stylists they assigned.. for trimming my daughter's hair they have charged me $27 last 3 times. There was absolutely no styling involved twas plain TRIMMING! The reason given the last time I checked was that previous visit you paid $27!!!! After my last visit I decided I ll never step back there again. The stylist ( i don't remember her name and I don't want to) was arrogant and rude. She commented that in her 20 yrs she has never been asked to style hair this long.. my hair is waist long, if u have nt seen this what were u doing last 20 yrs!! She was rolling her eyes and walking across and whispering to another lady and I saw that lady walking by and giving her the 'looks'.. never been treated like this ever.. at the end all this I tipped her too coz that's my culture., Please stay away if you value self respect and does not have short hair (!!!!! Got my highlights done here about a month ago and never wrote a review. Courtney did mine and she did a great job. The overall customer service at this place is good -- several people made sure I was doing okay, if I wanted a magazine, etc. everyone was very friendly. As for my hair, it came out the color I wanted. Courtney did a very good job! It was uneven in some areas but it's understandable as my hair is somewhat damaged. I have been a customer of Salon NV's for many years. The owner/manager, Judy, has done my hair whenever possible (ie...cut and highlights). The last two times I went in for a cut she was not available and two different stylists performed the task, same cut. They both did it differently and to say the least I walked out saddened by what was done. Both times I was left with what I refer to as indentations on both sides of my head. I am going to wait until it grows out somewhat and then return for my cut by Judy. If you need an updo for a special occasion Darryl and Trina are wonderful. Two of my daughters went to the salon for their wedding .. bride and bridal parties looked beautiful when all was complete. Darryl did a french twist on mine ..
