I've been searching for a new hair salon & stylist for some time now and decided to try Copper River via a Groupon. It was for a wash, treatment, cut and blow dry. My stylist was Cameron. I'm so happy I purchased the deal. Cameron understood what I wanted and also gave me really great tips on how to maintain my hair moving forward, since I had concerns of dry hair. So far, I've tried her tips and my hair has been much softer and less dry than it has been in a while. The salon is modern, clean and cozy. Metered Parking is available behind the salon and also street parking is available. The Entire experience was very pleasant from start to finish. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. They do amazing hair, there's an awesome energy in the salon, and they're super environmentally conscious and involved within the community. Lovely salon got a great cut and color ! But a 4% fee for using a credit card for a $300 bill is a bit steep for me. It may have been posted somewhere but I didn't see it. I understand it cuts into their margins but I haven't been charged a full 4% anywhere else in the area . read more

I went to get my Make-up and hair trial for my wedding. Make-up experience: I made an appointment stating that I wanted Air-Brush make up. I even called a day before to confirm air-brush application will be applied on my face during my appointment. I waited 30 mins for the make-up artist, Nicole, to show up. she was running late. Then she started pulling Revlon foundations from her makeup box and i was like i'm here for the air-brush. She told me that she ran out of the air-brush foundation and she needed to order. Of all good foundations available, why Revlon?? I told her that I have used that foundation before and i have allergic reaction to it; my skin is very sensitive. She told me it works well for a long time wear. If i'm paying someone to do my make-up, i'm expecting the following things: - show up on time and LISTEN(?) - show up with supplies that the customer asked for. Didn't she know that I asked for Air-brush application prior to the appointment? - Don't show up with cheap drug store foundation when you're hired as a makeup artist She did my make up anyways with Revlon and i looked like any other day going to the office. nothing special... she didn't even apply primer on my face, didn't even curl my eye lashes. I was so DISAPPOINTED. This is for my WEDDING!!! And my face was itching due to the foundation. My Hair-Experience: The owner did my hair. I wasn't impress at all. She didn't even ask what my dress look like. Whatever she did to my hair made my face look twice bigger. It took about 3 hours (including the wait time) and total bill came out $285. with tip and tax total amount that i paid was about $340. What a waste of money and time..... i'm still pissed off about this; they basically made $100 per hour for this kind of service from me. Ping is AMAZING! I came in for a trim and root touch up. I asked for someone that's experienced with thick hair. Not many stylists know how to manage my volume and texture. They highly recommended Ping. She listened to my concerns, made suggestions that would work for my face shape and it came out GREAT!! The cut feels light without taking too much length off! I didn't feel like she was rushing thru it or giving me a generic style. I was lazy about my color and had serious roots but she blended the color seamlessly! The salon is spacious, bright and comfortable with a lot of cool art on the wall. I was running late and the receptionist is super friendly and accommodating. Adorable spot! Nice, friendly people.. Tucked away off of Princeton's historic Nassau st. with ample parking in the back. I always end up at salons with folks that really make it an awkward experience when I have hairdressers act holier than thou - this spot was posh enough and sweet enough for me to be a regular when I need to get a cut. Cute coffee area, seating area and comfortable enough hair washing and cut area. I loved what Andrea did for my hair as I prepared for it to go really short. Almost a foot of hair cut off! But she made it beautiful, light and layered. She was a sweetheart and I felt like I was talking with an old friend. Got a shellac mani with an Amazon Local deal today and had a great experience! Very friendly staff from the moment I walked in. Took my coat and offered free coffee or tea from the Keurig. The nail technician Monika was super friendly and did a great job! She made sure to ask if I was comfortable with the amount of pressure she was using etc. She also took extra time to file my nails perfectly, and yet I was still in and out within 45 min! Amazing. I wish I had bought the 3 Shellac mani deal because now I want to come back! I definitely recommend. read more

Barbara is an experienced and knowledgeable colorist and stylist. The shop is beautiful and everyone is pleasant and helpful.

Owner called me and offered to personally do my hair and make me whole. She also said that what I described is not how customers should be treated. While i don't think I'll take her up on her offer, it was a stand up thing to do and worth reporting out. I still suggest asking your stylist exact pricing before approving any service. read more

Got balayage done to my brown hair, and I understand bleaching brown hair can cause to become yellow/orange, but my hair was a deep orange when my stylist was done, and the pieces of color on the top of my head were so thick and stripy looking and started up WAY to high for balayage, and in the back, my color was just in a straight line, with no blending into my natural hair color. My hair cut was good, but my blow out was also a little below average. I ended up going to a different salon a few months later to fix the color. It just felt like I spent a lot of money and didn't get the job done right :/ read more

I just returned from my Thanksgiving trip. Barbara phoned on Tuesday, Nov 24 after reading my review. She was pleasant and asked how they could make things right - why didn't I come in and she would try to fix things. I said that I was leaving on Thanksgiving day and she suggested I come in Wednesday so that it would be good for my trip. I thought it was very decent of her to stand behind the work. I went in and she put in a product which did lighten it slightly (actually it didn't really lighten it but did make it less flat black - it now has some tone to it). It is definitely an improvement. She then recut my hair which is a huge improvement - significantly shorter and with some style. I am much happier with the overall outcome. Thanks Barbara - I really do appreciate it! read more

It's a nice place, what can I say? Darby cuts my hair into an amazing shoulder length bob. The products they use are amazing (the brand is Furterer for shampoo and conditioner I believe) Beylene does fantastic manicures and pedicures upstairs in a tranquil and zen environment (read private room). There are always snacks (pretzels and nuts), water, coffee, tea, iced tea (in the summer), and the latest fluffy magazines. What more can a girl want? The only thing is, why so expensive? $60+ for a trim. Although amazingly their nail services are on par with the local pricing. So I am highly recommending the place. read more

I had a haircut here about a month ago, and there is absolutely no difference between a stylist and a "designer"! Don't waste your money. In fact, you can save 100% and go to a different salon... I wanted my side-swept bangs trimmed, and shorted a little, and the "designer" cut it bluntly so it fell above my eyes at a slant IN ONE GO. I am mortified but didn't want to tell her to fix it because I didn't want her to cut any more off. I've just been pinning my bangs up and suppose I will have to for the next two months. What a disappointment! Especially at this price!!! I have been to this salon before and never had something like this happen. Then again, I never had this particular person do my hair before. But, wouldn't a half-decent stylist (sorry, "designer") ask how much to take off, or take off a little at a time if they're not sure? She must have taken off a good three inches with one fell swoop of her scissors. read more

Had a wonderful experience at the Copper River Salon. Trying out a new hair salon can be intimidating, but I am glad I gave Copper Salon a chance. Dayna was calm, perceptive and swift. From the moment she asked about my hair, I felt safe in her hands and trusted her judgment. I was very happy with the finished cut. I tend to alternate how I part my hair, and Dayna did a great job taking that and my other styling requests into consideration. Also, the employee who rinsed and washed my hair did a lovely job. Copper River Salon is a stellar place for a bride, particularly one that wants a more natural look. Barb did an excellent job on my hair and really listened to what I wanted, along with being very calm and fun to chat with while in the chair. And yay good coffee, chocolates and snacks! My makeup was also great, not too heavy, very natural and pretty in the pictures. Doing a trial is very worthwhile, as it helped me envision what I wanted and communicate that with the ladies at the salon. There were no meltdowns on my day. At the last minute, they squeezed in a pedicure on account of my tight morning schedule before the wedding. Kudos to Copper River! I was a happy bride! read more

I got a haircut here a couple of weeks ago with Dayna. She was nice and I think she tried hard, but my haircut is just really, really bad. It honestly looks as if I cut myself. It's so bad that I'm embarrassed to wear my hair down and do a ponytail every time I want to look okay. But she also gave me bangs and they look terrible, even with ponytail. I asked for bangs, and I told her that I was happy with the ones I had before (cut three months previously, so needed trimming), so the guidelines were clear, but they are now horribly messed up, uneven length and somehow use up a lot of hair. So there is this curtain of hair on one side of my face which is not long enough to be put into a ponytail, but really is too big for a bang. I've had haircuts for this price in salons in other cities and usually for the first few weeks I can't believe how good I look every time I look in the mirror. Now I can't believe how bad I look. I intentionally waited for a couple of weeks to write this review because I wanted to get used to it and see if maybe I like it better. But no, it's bad, bad, bad. read more

I also have a raving review for Copper River and for Darby. I originally went to a hairdresser in Hamilton for 10+ years and she recently left to be a stay-at-home mom. I decided to try Copper River due to the glowing remarks on Yelp. I was hesitant to pay $60 for a haircut, but afterwards I felt the price was completely worth it! Darby was gentle, took her time, and is definitely the best hairdresser I've seen. She discussed what she thought would be best for my hair, and her suggestions were absolutely right. My hair looks and feels better than it ever has before! I walked out afterwards and immediately got comments on the street from people about my hair. I don't have enough positive things to say about this salon. Everyone there is incredibly nice and I will absolutely be back the next time I need a cut. read more

Andrea was incredible! I came back to campus after spring break wanting a change, and she completely understood how to handle my hair. I got so many compliments in the next few days, and I'm definitely coming back to her next time. Also, the overall service I received was fantastic. Not a good experience. Great haircut but stylist was unethical. Used a cream on my hair. loved it. Said she would sell to me. $50, not cheap. At counter I said "are you sure that is the right cream?" She said"yes". My naivety got the best of me. Next day I used the product, it smelled horrible and worked nothing like the product she used. She was a cheater. I will not be returning. My guess is the product she sold me was not selling and she also gets commission on what she sells. Moral of story, trust your instincts. read more

I have been going to Copper River regularly for about a year. Great cuts, great service. Everyone is very nice and professional.

My daughter went to Copper river salon on a Saturday for a haircut and blow out. Her hair was hombre and was persuaded to have the hombre covered with a red hair glaze. She was excited about getting something different done to her hair. I was meeting her for lunch after her haircut and her hair looked great and loved it! After sleeping on it overnight she woke up with hives on her neck and her ears felt hot and were swollen...pretty obvious she was having a reaction to the red die. She took Benadryl and put her hair in a bun and the reaction was better. Same thing happened the next night,hives with swollen ears. She called the salon but the salon was closed on Mondays. My daughter called on Tuesday and spoke to the receptionist who was very nice and made her an appointment to come in that night to have as much of the dye taken out as possible. A couple of hours after making the appointment the owner, Barbara called her back and asked her what was the problem. My daughter explained the situation and her response was "you must have had an allergic reaction to something you ate, I'm sure it wasn't the hair dye. Is it you don't like your hair and want it redone??? REALLY!!!She explained the troubleshooting we did and still did not believe her. She finally said, you can come in but I don't think there is anything I can do for you. My daughter called me crying so I called the owner and thought maybe my daughter misunderstood her. Barbara was annoyed and dismissive and said the same things to me as she did to my daughter. We went in that night for her to see it for herself. When we got there the receptionist kindly escorted her to a chair that was right next where Barbara was finishing up a haircut. Barbara finally annoyingly acknowledged her and let her sit there for a half hour before she even spoke to her. I stayed in the waiting room observing this without saying a word. She finally got to her and played with her hair and still insisted that it is not the hair dye. I walked over to them and introduced myself and was appalled at her tone as an owner of a salon. She still did not offer to do anything for my daughter!!! I asked her can you put something in her hair to remove the dye and her response to me was I DON"T THINK ITS THE DYE THAT IS CAUSING THE REACTION!!. Her final offer was to cut her hair to very short layers from below the shoulder length hair....Again REALLY!!! My daughter started to cry and left the salon. I asked Barbara for the lot and batch # of the hair dye that was used so that I can contact the mfg and advise them of what happened. I then said to Barbara that I was stunned by her behavior and told her in todays social media world that it was not a very smart of her to treat customers in that manner. Additionally there is another hair salon right next door which you would think she would be more accommodating to customers to keep their business. She again was dismissive to me and said sarcastically "Have a good night with her hand in the air"..in another words GET OUT OF MY SALON!!!! I told her that I would write our story on every social media site so that other customers would not have to go experience what we went thru....again with the hand in the air said have a good night!!!!! After leaving the salon I googled how to lift hair dye from your hair. I bought .88 suave shampoo and 5.99 Garnier hair dye. We shampooed my daughters hair with the Suave shampoo which lifted the excess dye off and then put the Medium dark brown dye over it and her hair came out beautiful and NO HIVES. I am no hairdresser or chemist and figured out what to do and Barbara could not!!! The problem here was she didn't want to be bothered. I would NEVER EVER recommend anyone going to this salon and if you do enter at your own risk!!!! read more

Visited a couple of times, and had stylist Barbara. She's done good work in the past, but the last time I went will be the last time I go back. She was overbooked and shouldn't have done me the favor of scheduling me in. The color took nearly 4 hours with all the haircuts she worked me around. It was a frenetic afternoon - I was late consequently, she left the color on too long,so she had to back pedal and ask me to put a glaze on (which I paid for) - to even out the color - really to hide the mediocre job, it seemed to me. When I arrived, I was quickly greeted, checked- in and offered a beverage. The waiting area was very clean and relaxing. My stylist was Dayna. I came in with pics of some ideas of what I'd be interested in (but was open to suggestions). She was very polite and gave her feedback of what would work for my facial structure and lifestyle. The wash was great and was accompanied by a little scalp massage. During the cut, I didn't feel like Dayna rushed at all. She took her time and did a fantastic job at the end!
