That's what you call customer service. -- I'm a little disappointed with Salon One today. Maybe it was an off day. Here's my deal: as a client, I respect your time and come in early or on time for my appointments, so I expect the same from my stylist. This is a dealbreaker for me. It's already so hard for me to find a good stylist that I trust and today, it was broken. Yes, I am a bit dramatic, but my time is precious and I put out the energy I expect to get back. You'd think if you make an online appointment, you don't have to wait that long. I saw that Cindy, who was supposed to do my hair was nowhere done with her current client. I waited patiently for almost 30 mins and no one acknowledged me or got me started. I left and the owner called me to come back, but I was already livid and I needed to get back at a certain time. You're not going to waste 30 mins of my time and gas and expect me to stay loyal. It's too bad, as I know they always do a good job with hair, but unfortunately, I have to find a new stylist cause ain't nobody got time for that. read more

I've had really pleasant experiences with multiple stylists here! Tina did an amazing job with coloring my hair blue. It was my first time doing a color that stood out and she did an amazing job! Cindy also did my shorter haircut and did an amazing job capturing what I wanted. It was something newer for me but it looked really good! Tina did an absolute fantastic job with my hair! I booked online for an appointment in advance for touch up for my ash blonde balayage and a haircut. Tina knew what to do and was attentive at what exactly I wanted. I bought conditioner at the end of of my session and I almost forgot it after paying- I realized I was missing it when I was in line for Ding Tea across the street LOL. I ran back to pick it up and Tina was about to call me to let me know I left it. Very nice people. This salon has pretty reasonable prices compared to other places in the Bay. I paid $295 for a balayage touch up, hair cut, and finishing style. Balayage/ombré services start at $185+. My previous touch up was at another salon where I paid $400+ just for the touch up service alone. You get quality service here with a great value. This salon is located in downtown Alameda and it can be a nightmare trying to find parking on Park St. I parked at the Civic Center garage which was a little walk away. She is super kind and I loved having conversation with her. She is also efficient, the whole process took about 3 hours, I could not be happier!! Everyone here is super nice and talented, I've gotten haircuts and my hair dyed here 99% of the time and have been for about a few years now. They are super flexible with scheduling, you can book on their website or call. Tina is excellent at cutting curly hair. The curls hold pretty well without having to use hair products (just scrunch wet hair). And, 6 weeks later my hair has grown out really nicely and people still complement it. Now she's also highlighted my hair. The streaks were a bit too bright for me at first, and without question Tina did a 2nd round of toner because she could see on my face that the highlights were a little too bright for me. It took extra time to do the process again, but she wanted me to leave happy. And, I did! I've recommended this place to my friends. Also, it's on Park Street on the same blocks as lots of good restaurants and shops, so you could spend a while here without having to re-park. Parking: 2 hour limit on weekdays 1.5 blocks away. He kept my length while trimming away whatever dead ends I had and gave my hair more volume and style. One star for helping me right away when i walked in. Do not get a haircut with TOMMY. I specifically asked for him to use razor bc i do not like blunt end, and told him that i want the front to be shorter. He did the exact opposite of what i asked for. Not sure if there was a communication issue, but the whole time he was cutting my hair he did not say a word. If you are not sure of something then just ask. You can always cut more hair but cannot add length back in. It's common sense. I've never hated my haircut this bad. I've had a bad haircut there in the past, but I've had many more positive experiences. My last time there, Howie gave me a haircut, and although it was subtle, it was a newer style for me. It was really cool because it was one of those haircuts that kept looking better the more it grew out. I have been going to see Tina for about 6 years now. Her work is amazing. Then all of a sudden her quotes changes via text after the service. My daughter and I will not be coming back. The last time I was there with my daughter for my birthday Tina charged us $520 when my daughter only got one color and a hair cut and myself with burgundy coloring with bleaching to take off the black and no haircut. I felt over charge then but I didn't say anything because my daughter was very happy with her hair. I don't mind paying for a great job and I always tip $20 every time. Then yesterday Tina charged me $185 for one color and a haircut I paid $200 which she told me by text it's $145 with highlights then she want to charge me another $95 just to add highlights. I am not rich. I am a single mom. I was very disappointed with Tina especially I have been going with her for a while now. I have communicated with her and let her know how I felt. I damaged my hair so much last year with blonde hair and needed to start over. I cut off 10 inches of my hair and donated it to "children with hair loss" but still needed to get it colored so the color wasn't so choppy. I haven't had short hair for years... but I kinda love it! Anyways, I needed to correct the color and most of the places I go to in San Jose or San Francisco were too far for me. I opted for something closer and when I called, they could take me in right away. I was fairly surprised but it worked out well. Jessica did my hair and she knew exactly what I needed. Jessica is such a sweet and social gal! I came in for a haircut and balayage. I had grown out my hair for over a year and a half from my previous balayage done at a different salon. The ends of my hair were really dry and damaged :( I asked for a V cut with layers, face framing layers, and curtain bangs.
