The fact of the matter is this, That should have been explained to me. When I initially walked in to your salon and showed you guys my hair, that wasn't even mentioned. Nothing about Color correction was brought up. Mind you, I took my hat off, took my hair out of my pony tail, and you guys continued on to tell me what the price would be. All she did was put color on my hair. There was nothing to correct.Furthermore, I had a card that you guys had on a table in your establishment that would give a new client 20% of their hair service, in which I did not receive. I have no problem paying whatever the cost is, but this is more so principal. I was told one thing, and wasn't told what it really was. On top of not getting 20% of my service, which was why I even booked an appointment with your salon. I hope you can understand my frustration and disappointment. read more

I was able to get a same day appointment with Irene for a trim and a blow out on my very long, thick, wavy hair. I haven't got my hair cut in over a year and this was a wonderful experience with the relaxing hair wash and blow dry. The trim was perfect and my hair looks so happy and healthy again. I've been coming here off and on for about a year. Recently my usual stylist moved to northern California so I started using Salon Orchid for my haircuts, as well as colouring. The atmosphere is so relaxed and the staff is great! Breanna listens to what I want and helps me get the look I'm going for...every time! I cannot say enough good about this place. I've wanted to Yelp about my terrible experience since I went there about 2 yrs ago. Here's the story: I lived nearby and this cute little shop opened up. I thought - it might be the perfect, reasonably priced place for me. So I made an appointment. Now, Irene, the owner seemed pretty cool. I went in, explained what I wanted (which was just a trim on the style I already had - something short and easy). She talked with me awhile and I thought it went pretty well. But, since I hadn't had short hair for more than a few months, I couldn't tell how the cut was for a few days. Then I realized the layers were a little too long on the sides. So, I went back after about 3 days. She had said she'd be happy to make changes and I could come back any time. While she smiled and asked for exactly where I wanted it trimmed up, she casually said, "No one's ever come back before." Then she took the scissors and cut the hair near my ears down to the scalp. As I was about to protest, she cut my bangs to about half an inch! The bangs, which were supposed to be below my eyebrows at the shortest, started sticking straight up. I swear I looked like MacGyver for two months. She was completely vindictive, "Oh, you want the bangs shorter, ok, how about I take off two inches? You like that? You want shorter layers? No problem! I'll make them so short you can't find them...." Sure, she seemed friendly the first time. And if her cut works for you, she might be great for you. But don't ask her to "fix" something, because for me... WORST. HAIRCUT. EVER. read more

Went in to get my bangs trimmed by Breana. I said I wanted the same shape and style (straight across, with the ends longer to frame my face), just a trim. What I got was something entirely different. They're shorter than I explained I wanted and shaped with the ends shorter than the rest of my (already too short) bangs, accompanied by a couple of random bald spots along them. When I pointed this out, she said she just cut straight across like I said I wanted, then moved my hair around to cover the bald spots. This obviously doesn't make any sense because I have an entirely different style of bangs now. This was on my bookmarks to review and when I scrolled down to look at Salon Orchid on Yelp again I noticed that it only had one star! I thought I'd throw up the overall rating a bit since it's only been reviewed once. While I'm not retorting Jennifer W.'s review, because I have had my share of horrible haircuts, I would like to add that I had a most pleasant experience here. I came here a couple of months before my wedding, so getting a good looking 'do was extremely important, however, a dwindling money supply due to wedding costs forbade me to get the usual "pricier" cut from Regis Salon. I came upon Salon Orchid during a Google search and found it reasonably priced and close to home. I was just going in for a trim, do I didn't see too much damage being done anyway. The salon is located in a strip mall next to Kragen Auto Parts, which made me concerned about the quality of haircut I'd receive when I first pulled in but I went in any way. When I opened the door to the salon, I was greeted by a clean, trendy and modern-looking establishment. The owner, who also took care of my hair, was warm and friendly to me. We chatted about my upcoming nuptials and her daughter's upcoming Quinceanera. At some point, I started to wonder if I should have been more selective about the salon I chose seeing as other salons took "take 1 inch off the bottom" to mean "chop off an entire foot". My fears were soon alleviated when she turned me towards the mirror and saw that I received just the cut I'd ordered. As a picky picker of hairstylists, Salon Orchid really does exactly what you want, and for half the price of the foo foo salons I used to visit. read more

Okay - it's not like a super luxurious salon where they serve you hot tea and give you a hand massage while you get a haircut. But - you will not leave disappointed and the service is a great value. I got a haircut from Irene and another girl (at a different visit) helped salvage my poor bangs (that were brutally overcut and took forever to grow back in). It's located conveniently next to my nail spot (see the review on Elite Nails) and in a sketch plaza. Rest assured, give it a chance. Only downside is that there are only a couple of girls there at a time so make sure to call ahead or be prepared to wait. read more

Irene at Salon Orchid has been my stylist for close to 4 years now. I first met her when I needed some hair gel before I got on my way for a trip to Las Vegas. She was friendly and helpful then, and when I finally needed a haircut, Irene was there to save the day. I used to always spend $50+ on the same haircut that Irene at Salon Orchid charges less than half for. So thanks to Irene, I not only get a great look, but I also get to keep more money in my pocket. I've gone through a number of hairstyles with her expertise. I'm grateful that she's able to help me pull off each style. I've also had the pleasure of having Brianna as my other stylist. The cool thing is that Brianna also does facials, and although she hasn't done one for me, she did clean up my eyebrows when I asked and of course she did a fabulous job. I will definitely be coming back here! Yesterday was my 5 year anniversary, and my hair was bad... Really really bad! I happened to see Salon Orchid yesterday just driving on Colorado and decided to blindly walk in. I was greeted with a beautiful smile. Irene (the owner) was the only one there with a client in her chair. I asked if she accepted walk ins and she said yes and politely told me she would need 20 minutes to attend me. So I went on an errand and came back 20 minutes later. As soon as i arrived to she took me in. She is wonderful! She took time to ask about my hair and what i wanted. She explained what she was doing throughout the whole haircut experience. When she was done my hair was transformed! And i thought it would take a miracle worker! Besides the haircut. She is also friendly :) i felt so comfortable around her :) I'm glad i stumbled into this salon. This is a small salon, if i remember correctly theres only two chairs, so i think making an appointment would be time saving. Parking is free, easy and right in front. I have been seeing Lydia for a few months now and she is by far the quickest the most professional the cleanliest eyelash professional I have ever dealt with. I am truly impressed with her attitude and her quickness, I used to get anxiety dealing with my eyelash people because they would take forever but Lydia gets to the point she so calming I actually fall asleep!!! It was my first time coming to this salon, I went because my best friend referred me and her hair came out BEAUTIFUL :) so I figured I would give it a shot since it would be more convenient for me to come here anyways because I live in Pasadena. Irene and Brianna are EXCELLENT!! They are very welcoming, I didn't feel uncomfortable at all through out my visit and I was there 7 hours because I have long, thick hair. They offered me beverages and even went out of there way to get me lunch which was very generous of them. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way my hair came out! I got an Ombre (Blonde) and a trim and although I was there all day, IT WAS WORTH IT! Found this salon gem in Pasadena today! I called hoping to walk in without an appointment for a haircut/blow dry and they were able to see me with no problem. They were very welcoming when I arrived(parking is tight but they do have street parking if the lot is full) and was seated right away. The ladies at Salon Orchid are so AMAZING! I am new to Pasadena and needed something close that I could depend on so after a few random internet searches, their salon is the place I decided to try. BEST DECISION OF THE YEAR, as soon and you arrive you are greeted warmly and offered refreshments. After explaining that I wanted to dye my hair going from dark to light Irene gave me the once over and explained the best way to do it while keeping my hair healthy. Unfortunately my first visit was cut short but I returned a week later. These ladies did a FABULOUS job giving me the lighter look I wanted. It took a long time (4 hours!) since I have a lot of hair but Breanna was great checking on my comfort, allowing me to paint my nails and bringing me water. The girl who did my hair was very nice and she duplicated the picture I showed her almost exactly, she feathered the braids a little more than the picture showed but that was fine. She was very concerned with whether or not the style would show under my graduation cap which was sweet, but I had a pretty good idea of where the style would sit and where the cap would sit so I told her to go ahead. She was not the gentlest with my hair, but she wasn't the worst either, she did not jab the pins in but she did pull a bit in the course of washing, brushing and curling but nothing I couldn't stand. I'd go back. The salon was a little hard to find, there was only one sign and I missed it twice. They need a sign on the door, otherwise you have to lean back to check the one sign there is to make sure you're in the right place. Otherwise, I'm very happy. They're nearer my school than anyone else was and they were $5-10 cheaper than anyone else too. read more
