First time coming to this salon today and I LOVED it! They offer you a drink of choice (water, rose, mimosas, etc.) and give amazing massages during the wash! Cristina is it! I've followed her around over the years and glad we ended up here! I've gone to Cristina forever it seems and she knows just what to do with my long, long hair (which is now short hair after Saturday)! I never have to worry about a bad hair cut and always enjoy my hair time and catching up with her and consistently leave the salon feeling great! The salon overall is really cute, organized and clean and located in a large shopping center so there's plenty of parking. They confirm appointments via text which is convenient and offer coffee or water when you walk in. This salon has a super comfortable feel and everyone seems really friendly. I recently had a very good experience at this salon. It was my first time. I was looking for a salon to fix my hair from a horrible experience at House of Lange at the Irvine Spectrum. Shannie at House of Lange totally ignored my wishes even though I gave her a photo of the color I wanted. My hair never looked so bad and they charged me $400!. I was hoping Salon Plum could fix my color. The hairstylists worked for 3 hours to fix it --- it came out AMAZING. I will be back. As long as they stay transparent with their pricing - I will be a customer. They have a price list and they stick to it and don't surprise you with random upcharges. House of Lange is the opposite - You are quoted prices then you go to pay and it's ALWAYS more. I would recommend Salon Plum. Everyone was very nice and wanted me to have a good experience. Salon Plum - Super fabulous hair - Hair Salons Near Me - Ladera Ranch, California

I was scheduled for a blowout for an event last Saturday and was quoted $50 at the time of booking. I got there with my friend and her stylist was ready to go and I was told that Homa would arrive in about 5 minutes, no big deal. When she greeted me, she asked when I washed my hair last- seemly vetting if she should wash it or not, even though I had booked a blowout. I asked for long curls, nothing crazy. She ended up washing my hair relatively quickly- no head massage or anything but that's okay too, although I didn't love the water in my eye. She blew out my hair as if I was planning to wear it straight and then started curling it with an old janky-looking curling iron. By the time she finished, the first part of my hair had already completely fallen because she didn't spray during curling and the blowout was straight. She did re-curl the first part and then put an incredible amount of hairspray in my hair- it looked shellacked. I didn't mind because I knew I could comb it out a bit and fix it before the event. I didn't love that she took so long- both of my friends had gone back to back with another stylist for blowouts and finished before me. She then told me I needed to pay with Venmo even though their website says they accept cards and told me it would be $85! I told her that I was quoted $50 at the time of booking and was surprised, she justified her price by telling me that she washed, dried, and curled my hair (yup, a blowout, that's what I booked). She then said, "Okay, how about $75?" I ended up paying her that amount (plus a little more for a tip because I have a problem with not tipping) because the situation was very uncomfortable and then learned that my other two friends also overpaid based on the amount quoted at booking- they were charged $65 each. Overall, I didn't love the service and felt taken advantage of due ti the price discrepancy. read more

I don't generally write reviews but I couldn't have been more excited on how my hair turned out!! Erin did such an amazing job and revived my hair back to life. When I arrived she offered me a drink (I decided on a glass of wine, which i greatly accepted lol) and showed me a color chart of different hair colors I could achieve which I thought was really cool considering i've never had someone do this! I never write reviews or update them for that matter, but for someone as amazing as Erin (whom I've been going to for about 5 years) it's totally necessary. Not to mention Salon Plum itself is so stunning and the staff are super sweet. Erin has seen me from the darkest end of the color wheel to my blonde phases, and all while keeping my hairs integrity. She does my entire families hair and never disappoints. She will always listen to want you want, to the finest detail and most importantly keep you hair healthy as well. The saying will forever be true you pay for what you get, good color and an incredible stylist will never be "cheap" and I'd be scared if it was. She is the sweetest, and most patient person. I recently went back to my dark roots from being blonde for just about a year and I was concerned about having red undertones. Kristen Luna Page is absolutely the best. I first found Kristen almost 10 years ago at a salon in San Francisco, just a few short months after receiving a horrendous haircut. She was very patient as I insisted that no one understood my hair. She took on my high-maintenance b.s. with a smile, and proceeded to fix the cut I believed was unfixable. Since that day, she's the only person I've trusted to cut my hair. Kristen is truly an artist. First of all, she has amazing style and an uncanny ability to find the cut that you didn't know you wanted - a cut that's somehow both "on trend" and classic. More importantly, she understands hair, and she knows what she needs to do to create a haircut you can actually style yourself and live with on a daily basis (after all, despite being a high maintenance client, i don't actually want to have to DO anything to my hair!). Have I mentioned that she's also awesome, and someone I always look forward to seeing and catching up with? Anyway, after relocating to LA in 2013, necessity required that I find someone nearby...and I had the same experience that brought me to Kristen in the first place. KRISTEN is definitely as good as it gets and then some! (This review is about 10 years overdue!) She has been cutting my hair for years since our San Francisco days! And let me tell you, my hair is everything to me. I have very wavy hair and lots of it! Kristen IS the only person who has ever texturized and tamed it to perfection, and of course her eye for style is on point so she always gets it right. She has cut my hair into short trendy styles (a la Freja Beha Erichsen) you would never imagine possible on my hair, and it always grows out awesome, seriously she can do it all. I am super excited and happy she's made her way down to southern Cali and that I only have to drive an hour to her as apposed to a flight to SF (which let's face it, if I had to I would) It's as if the hair gods listened to me! I had been waiting for Salon Plum to open, then finally made time for myself to go in and get a cut. I didn't have a specific stylist in mind since I had never been there, so I took whoever they gave me. I was booked with Jordyn, and she did such a great job! Going to salons always makes me nervous because I've had a lot of bad experiences, but not only did she cut my hair exactly how I wanted, she was so sweet and talkative the entire time. I had a good time talking with her while getting the cut I wanted. The salon is very nice and comfortable. I was offered water or coffee as soon as I got there, and had to wait barely any time at all for Jordyn to get ready, even though I was early. Amazing 5-Star Hair Cut by Erin!!! Wow, honestly one of the best hair cuts I have ever had. I have extremely thick frizzy hair and after Erin's hair cut, I walked out with silky smooth perfectly layered hair. It's really nerve-wracking to go to a new salon and chop off over a foot of hair, but the moment I called Salon Plum to book my appointment, I knew I was in good hands! I looked online at all of the stylists work beforehand, and didn't really know who to choose. I told the receptionist what I wanted to achieve, and she set my appointment up with Leah. Leah was awesome, and gave me a super-cute A-line bob and lightened up my dyed black hair with some hilights. The salon itself is brand-new and clean, and there are tons of beverages and magazines for you to choose from. I don't write reviews often, but this had to be an exception. I've always hated getting my hair cut. I have very thick hair that is heavy and can be difficult to manage (many stylists have even complained about how thick my hair is!). No matter what salon I've gone to, nobody seemed to be able to cut my hair the way I wanted it or in a way that was flattering for my hair texture. So when I tried getting my first cut with Tom Bui I didn't really have any expectations. I just gave him a general description of what I had in mind and let him have at it. To my surprise, it turned out amazing! Tom took my suggestions and combined it with his expertise to give me the most flattering cut I've ever had (without complaining once about my hair ;). He knew how to layer it and shape it in a way that not only took out a lot of the heaviness, but actually enhanced my natural waves! I will never go to anybody else. This is for the stylist I used only because I don't believe every stylist at this salon would have the same work ethic. I had scheduled an appointment for a blow out and curl for family photo day. It is hard to find a salon open on Sunday. I had scheduled weeks in advance for an 11 am appointment to allow extra time (just in case) before my makeup appointment. The stylist Erin sent a text 50 minutes before my appointment asking if I could come at 11:45 instead of 11. I replied that I could but that I had to make sure that I was out by 1 to make it to the next appointment, she did not respond until 1030. (It takes me 30 minutes to get to the salon)I told her that I had things I had to do before and after, so I needed to know what time to be there and she told me to go ahead and come in at 11. My mistake was that I should've asked her what time she would actually show up because I waited for 30 minutes for her to walk through the door when I could've been having breakfast or getting dressed for the photos. There was no apology or explanation for being so late. She charged me $45 instead of $40 which I was quoted over the phone ( I don't have thick or long hair). I usually don't leave bad reviews but I felt this was very rude. read more

I am going to go out on a limb and say that my hair stylist Cassidy Levin is probably the best hair stylist I have had, well ever. She pays attention to detail, takes time to get to know you and her skill are PHENOMENAL. I was cautious when looking for a hair stylist when I moved here because I have such platinum hair, but when I came across Cassidy's Instagram and saw her work I knew I had to go to her. I now drive almost two hours just to go to this salon, just for Cassidy (lol). It's outrageous but COMPLETELY worth it. She's the sweetest person and will give you exactly what your looking for. I'm a Southern California girl that did a short stint in Salt Lake. That's where I met Emily and would go to get cuts downtown on Sundays. Then I moved back to San Diego and tried place after place but was never satisfied. I had a reason to head back out to Salt Lake and was excited to book a cut, but alas, Emily was gone! With my super sleuthing abilities I conjured up from my Carmen San Diego days, I found her at this lovely little spot, Salon Plum. I make a half day of it...an excuse to get the cut and roam around the OC. She has also cut both my sisters hair and niece and the cuts always grow out nicely. I've had a digital perm and gone back to my natural texture and she never missed a beat. Always turns out great and tends to last me 4 months if needed. Marisa at Salon Plum is just fantastic! She's the kind of hair stylist that you follow places. I went to Marisa for advice on layering my hair while growing it out, and she gave me perfect layers. I have the flexibility to diffuse my hair and get nice waves and curls, but also to wear it straight and full. She also gave me great advice on how to gradually lighten the color of my very dark brown hair. I've been getting more white hair than I care to admit, and was using box dye to cover it up myself. However, I wasn't happy with how dark my hair was coming out, and was scared of the prospect of having to bleach my whole head to achieve a lighter color. Marisa showed me a few options for introducing tiny highlights into my dark brown hair to create an overall lighter effect, and it totally worked. I received compliments from family and friends too. Not only is Marisa a skilled stylist, but she's a lovely person too. Sweet, funny and friendly, I always enjoy my hair styling visit. Salon Plum is also a beautiful and stylish space.
