I created a Yelp account just to write a review on this place because of how poor my haircut was.I showed the employee cutting my hair reference photos from every angle. 45 minutes of my time wasted later, I came to realize that I was messed up so horribly I would have been better off going to Supercuts. I attached photos of what I showed her vs what I received. Keep in mind they charged me $50 for this haircut. Don't bother coming here unless you want to receive the worst haircut of your life. This is my first time at this place and Danielle C. Was AMAZING!!! She really transformed my dry hair to something more supple and soft. My natural hair color is dark and she used a dark blonde to brighten up my dark, colored hair. She also trimmed 4 inches off, and really made my hair feel a lot lighter and not heavy anymore. This review is more for the stylist than the salon. Alexa is the best colorist around. She can do any color, she can mix custom colors and more. I have seen her do silver hair, red hair, blue hair and multi-colored hair. Not only that, she can make a professional look professional and yet have fun hair hidden so you can bring it out when you're out of work! She loves what she does too, she finds joy in seeing you happy with your hair. She also loves to color hair, it is obvious it is her passion. I have now gotten my son's hair done, he wanted green hair for his birthday. He was in love with it. Then, I got green and purple hair and it was amazing! She did it ombre and it was seamless in the change of color. I decided to change it up the next time and she had to strip my hair of color before doing the change and she did not burn my hair and it took the color beautifully. I now have purple and magenta hair! Since I am self-employed, I can do what I want with my hair and Alexa has convinced me to never have normal colored hair again! My hair is definitely an awkward thing for me. Years of being traumatized thanks to my mom sending me to Supercuts a day before I started at a brand new school where I knew no one. Supercuts takes their name to the extreme, and my mom's comment of "cut a few inches" turned into what seemed like feet. Thin fine hair stopped at the length of my CHIN! Not a good look for me. I stopped the second I saw it and bawled my eyes out. Thanks to that experience it took me many years to let ANYONE do ANYTHING. I even practically hyperventilated the first time she asked a lady to highlight my hair, and I walked out with a streak or two of blonde at the top and no one even noticed. Years later I trusted another girl who was good but notoriously 30+ minutes late to her own clients, but she was all I knew. I got highlights a few times a year. That was about it. She then moved off to help richy clients in Beverly Hills. Then I grew to love Jelena and her work! From going back to my dark hair, to going back to highlights. I have loved her work every....single....time. Zero complaints, and zero fears. She knows her stuff and I trust her. Leaving a gloom and doom salon that had a weird negative energy about it, my wonderful hair stylist Jelena joined the awesome group at Salon Heavener. She was so excited to be here and told me to stop by soon. I was in need of a touch up. I have been going through a lot and my hair was long over due. Long dark brown roots and blondish at the bottom. I always look like a mess by the time I come back in. I wanted something new. I get burnt out on too many things. I thought about peek-a-boo highlights instead of the regular ones. She warned me that if I went back to dark hair, it was going to take a very long time to get it light again and I guess she knows me well enough to know that I would probably want it back and it took a long time before. She mentioned rose gold highlights and I was immediately in once I googled pictures. This salon is great. It is so open, and very welcoming. No gloom and doom yellowish lights to dull your vision for a few hours before getting blind walking back out to the sun. This salon has TONS of natural light which I love. The salon is bright and happy with beautifully painted walls in accented colors as well. The staff is mixed with men and women which always makes for a better working environment. (I have seen both extremes of one gender working at various places). The staff is very friendly to each other and helps each other out, which brings out a better energy in general. Where I went before seemed to be the opposite. I absolutely love my rose gold highlights. I can not go too extreme as I am currently searching for a new opportunity myself, but what Jelena did is perfect. I came from extreme fear in the past to completely trusting her with what to do and I let her go with her suggestions. She knows her stuff and I always leave very happy. This is by far one of my favorite styles yet. Now if I can make my stubborn very straight hair have soft curls like she can do. Highly recommend this place. Even if you don't see her, the staff here and the environment is awesome. read more

I've gone to Jelena for my haircuts for almost 2 years now, and have to say that I've never had a hairstylist who listened to my requests or knew what to do with my ridiculously thick hair as well as she has. I've been to many hairstylists over the years but always felt poorly after my haircut was over because a. they didn't listen to what I asked for (ie one unfortunate mishap when I asked for an angled Bob - longer in the front and shorter in the back, and they swapped the two and I ended up with a mullet ‍). b. I was made to feel like there was something wrong with my hair because it was so thick and needed "special care". Needless to say, I've had my share of traumatic experiences. But with Jelena, I always leave feeling better than when I came in. She is so good at understanding what it is I'm wanting for my haircut and then executing it to perfection. She has never once made me feel judged or less than for having unruly and thick hair. I have loved every single haircut I've received from Jelena. She takes so much care to the details and it shows. Even as my hair grows out, it still looks great and that's a testament to Jelena's skill and precision. If you're looking for a hairstylist who is not only talented, detail oriented, and can handle all different hair textures, but also an amazing human being, look no further. I have been going to Mark Heavener for at least 7 years now and I always love sitting in his chair, enjoying his company, while he does his magic. He is amazing at what he does. My sister has been going to Mark just as long, and we talk about Mark as if he is part of our family. He keeps me looking young, feeling good, and in style. Mark and Connie were also there for me during a difficult time. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and prior to chemotherapy I went to Mark to cut my long hair off and he gave me the cutest pixy cut. The best part was, when I showed up for my appointment they surprised me with a pink boa, pink cupcakes, and even had clients that were breast cancer survivors there to support me. It was absolutely amazing and incredibly touching. My friends and family that accompanied me to the salon were so impressed and touched on how Mark and Connie turned a difficult event into a supportive celebration. If you're a mom to a baby or toddler, do me a favor and look for yourself another salon. The woman in the front was so unwelcoming to me and my son. I tossed in the trash can a bag that contained a pee diaper and she made me grab it and toss it elsewhere cause "it smells." Jordan Mercado is the absolute best!! I will never let anyone else touch my hair again. To put it mildly my hair has been through the ringer! Every color imaginable! This last time was a doozy. I chose to dye my hair blue. Not pastel blue, we are talking Katy Perry blue!!! And after loads of bleach i was left with a blonde/green fried mess. UGH! Jordan to the rescue! I paid 275$ for nothing!!... I'm not someone who says anything bad about a place even when they have treated me poorly. But after I talked to many people they urge me to share my story. I really wanted a keratin treatment and after reading the reviews I was very excited because everyone had good things to say about this pace!... However, If you have very curly hair like type 3b DONT go to Al. One good thing I have to say is that he was super nice and he seem to really care about my health when doing the keratin treatment. BUT he had NOO f**king idea how to manage my curly hair. When he was blowing drying my hair he did not do it in very small sections and when he finally straighten my hair it felt sooo STIFF and BRITTLE!! I think he put WAYY TOO MUCH product on my hair. He started saying it was because "I hadn't cut my hair that's why it felt dry". Yes I did my ends cut But my hair is very healthy! I only straighten my hair once ever 2 years and I have dyed my hair in 4 years. I didn't left him finish after I had felt how dry and brittle my hair was... I quickly told him to wash it off. I left that place literally SHAKING because I was soo scared my hair was going to be ruin. I had a keratin treatment many years ago and my hair did not felt stiff at all!! It was very soft!!!. I did not have a good experience here with Jenna Bennett. She spent 6 hours attempting a blonde and supposedly brown weave. I left with trailer trashy blonde look , which isn't what I asked for and maybe total of 6/8 brown strands weaved into a few spots I had orange blonde hair, at end of day and when I got hone saw more hair that she never covered. My underneath hair is brownish red and very uneven tones throughout. This was.. a full weave? I had to go to another salon today for a partial color correction until I can afford it to be fully corrected. Salon hairdressers there doing hair for over 30 plus years couldn't believe what a poor job I had done at heavener salon. I contacted owner Mark for refund , but his reply was 'I saw the before and after shots' taken by his hairdresser and disagreed with me.Well he never saw the underneath hair nor the photos of what I asked for, and she assured me in two consults..she could deliver. She did NOT deliver what I asked for at all! Now no refund?? Do not go to this salon, especially for $130 and leaving with a crappy job and no offer for refund or any compensation . I called in at 815am to see if I could have my haircut quickly at 845am. Mark said no problem, and he did deliver. The facility's were clean, Mark was personable, and he buzzed my hair just fine. Also, $20 bucks for the cut seemed fair to me...a moderate price. 3 stars because it was an OK experience. It would have been four stars if he would have let me change out of my shirt prior to the haircut and given me a shampoo after. Two small things that by not happening, lessened my experience. From my first consultation it was clear that Connie knows all about color treatments - - my hair always looks brilliant after a trip to Salon Heavener. The color is beautiful and looks natural. Connie always knows just when to add ombre or lowlights and she will go out of her way to fit me in if necessary. Now that I'm in Orange County, I love having the flexibility of being able to make appointments on weekdays as well as Saturdays. I had a very very important interview coming up, and was slightly nervous due to past unfortunately awful experiences with Groupon hair deals. THIS IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST DEAL OUT THERE. I was with Alyssa M. and she spent 4 hours transforming my awful brunette dye job into a healthy, layered blonde look. Service is excellent and the owners are the sweetest people. There are so many stylists to choose from as well. Gustavo is my go to. He knows exactly what I want and envision. He takes everything I say into consideration and bases it off my exact description. He delivers beyond any of my expectations and I am always in love with my hair afterwards. For the perfect men's haircut, Garrett is your man! There's nothing I've told Garrett I wanted done to my hair that he hasn't been able to accomplish. Garrett is the best of both worlds given not only is he a pro with scissors but is also a pro with clippers. I came from a barber haircut background and since I met Garrett I've been able to have the clean cut look with a nice edge.
