Marisa at Salon Plum is just fantastic! She's the kind of hair stylist that you follow places. I went to Marisa for advice on layering my hair while growing it out, and she gave me perfect layers. I have the flexibility to diffuse my hair and get nice waves and curls, but also to wear it straight and full. She also gave me great advice on how to gradually lighten the color of my very dark brown hair. I've been getting more white hair than I care to admit, and was using box dye to cover it up myself. However, I wasn't happy with how dark my hair was coming out, and was scared of the prospect of having to bleach my whole head to achieve a lighter color. Marisa showed me a few options for introducing tiny highlights into my dark brown hair to create an overall lighter effect, and it totally worked. I received compliments from family and friends too. Mari Nassiri has been my professional hairstylist for over 4 years and let me tell you she's truly one of a kind. Her extensive knowledge of color, artistic nature and friendly character make her irreplaceable. I used to live close to her shop but had to move over an hour away but I still make the drive to see her because she is just that good! I've never been anything but extremely happy with my hair. I'm not the type of person who can walk into a salon and describe the type of hair color I like. I rely completely on my stylist to understand and know what I need. Mori is an artist, and my hair always turns out beautiful. She takes good care of my hair and lets me know when I need to give it a little extra TLC. She's creative, kind, her prices are reasonable and she's realistic. When I asked for a perm she gave me her expert opinion on why it may not be the best style for my hair type and let me make the choice. She's honest. She never tries to talk me into a hair style, she provides suggestions and with those recommendations she reviews the pros and cons of each option. It turns out that perms are way damaging to the hair and instead she came up with a new hair color that was unique creative and satisfied my need for "something different". So so. My hair looked okay when I left but I didn't get what I asked for. The color has faded badly and now I'm going to need to find someone to do it again. I specifically asked for just a few highlights and not all the way to my scalp. I also wanted to tone down the red tones that my color keeps fading to. In the end I got a ton of blond highlights that went right up to my scalp and my hair is red. Ugh. I wish that hairdressers would just take a hot second and listen to what their clients want. read more

Not happy with the quality of product they use for hair color. I have been here multiple times and my color fades within a week of my treatment. I always try to support local business. Nobody seems to know how to cut straight hair. Then he moved to LR, better, closer to my place. Then. he moved within Ladera.. no problem.. I will follow him to the moon! Daniel is professional, respectful, has a great conversation, however, I follow him because he does the best hair cuts!. My hair is difficult to cut, a mistake will show right away. He is detailed oriented and precise. He will assess you face, your hair and suggest what will work for you. He does color for me too. I do my routine color, when I need to do the back, he does that for me. I like that he likes to learn and is open for new ideas.
