Larissa is FANTASTIC! She has been cutting my younger daughter's hair for years (15). My daughter has very curly hair and Larissa does a wonderful job on her cut. Plus she loves to have her hair braided and Larissa is a perfectionist with her braids! My daughter is always so happy. My older daughter (18) needed her hair done for prom so we booked with Larissa. This daughter has wavy hair, not as curly. Larissa nailed the style she wanted and it held, not just for prom but even the next day and it was 90 degrees and humid! Horrible, horrible experience. Asked for a very slight balayage on the bottom tips of my hair just by the ear. She covered my entire hair in red foil and gave me bright red color all over from the roots to the tips of my hair. First they keep making excuses about the stylist, not being available so they wouldn't fit me in to come back in to get it fixed. After two weeks, I went to a different place to get it fixed and still it was so red. Asked them repeatedly to take care of the mess, but they wouldn't. Horrible experience! read more

terrible terrible terrible service! i don't recommend this place at all. i came here for the first time for a ladies haircut and i have facial piercings and the lady tugged at my piecing not once but TWICE! even after i had said it hurt the first time. then on top of that they ask me how i want my face styled so i say straight bc thats typically how i like it but they charged me extra without disclosing it was more money. and then the red headed front desk lady acted like i didn't exist when i brought up the complaint! the lack of care and attention from the front desk lady is what really sealed the deal. it's okay to make mistakes, but just take accountability and make them right. read more

A first timer who went to the salon because of the convenient location and being new to the area from New York. Beautiful decor and very warm greetings from staff. My stylist was Paulina and I asked for a simple bob with about 1" off. Sounds easy? Unfortunately, when I got back to my car, I saw all the unevenness and hair coming out of the hair line underneath. I returned to have her fix it but I felt a professional stylist would have checked the line before I left the salon. How would I rate her, 2 stars. The salon 5 stars. Unfortunately, even though she fixed it, I think a courtesy should have been given to me for having to come back. Would I come back and give it another try, maybe but with another stylist. read more

Donna at Salon Pure is a true hair Artist. She is very creative and professional. She gives the best haircuts and she is very thorough with length and style. Donna's expertise of color is terrific. I went in for a full balayage to get some lighter brown tones in my very black hair, and although I had to visit the salon a second time in order to get them darkened a bit (they had an open slot the next day & second appointment was free of charge!), I was very happy with the experience. Brittney was a great stylist. She consistently ensured that I was comfortable and was very receptive of my feeling of discontent with the initial colors. Hate to post this as I wanted to give Salon Pure an opportunity to own their mistakes and correct however it was very disappointing. The Salon does not take responsibility of the mistakes done by their stylists. Over the course of 3 months I have been serviced by 4 stylists just because my original stylist Brittany was out sick for few weeks. To my dismay, they do not have correct formula in their system for each of their clients hair color and apparently when you are serviced by the new stylist and they mess it up, the salon doesn't own their mistakes. Their new stylists were unable to cover my grey hair the last time and when I went this time, I asked them to blend it in with the new formula (had to sit with the shade card again as the notes are missing/incorrect) and they said, they will charge me additional to get it blended. I told them I came in last time and paid to cover my greys which wasn't done however neither the stylist nor the owner considered. This is poor customer service and rude behavior. The owner gave me an attitude and was absolutely not willing to resolve the customers's concern. I will never go back there and urge others too to re-consider as stylists leave salons all the time and since they do not have an effective process in place, others will also go through the experience what I had to!! I would better spend my money at a Salon where customer is serviced well and the owner's motto is customer's delight !! read more

I needed a post-Covid hair refresh and Amy O knocked it out of the park. I've asked stylists before to help me go blonde and EVERY single time I've ended up with highlights instead. So when I told her, I'll be honest, I was kind of expecting to be told the same thing. Nope nope nope. This was my first time trying this place based on a referral. I was very scared and told the stylist that I am trying to grow out my hair from previous color damage. IT TOOK ME OVER A YEAR to get it to where it was and I was finally feeling good. I just needed a slight trim with some reshaping of my layers. The stylist was very nice but I do not believe she has experience with Asian hair. My hair is thick and coarse, with wavy frizzy texture. However, it can be styled nicely if you know what to do. I did ask beforehand if she has experience with this type of texture and she stated she deals with this hair all the time so I proceeded. I mentioned that i do not trust easily anymore, but it was supposed to be just a trim, so did not think it would be this bad. All of my layers are short and uneven, she thinned out my hair to the point it has no weight now, making it impossible to manage and style. She dried my hair like a mushroom and as if I was going to a prom from the 80s. Not sure why she thought that was cute as she seemed to have her hair nicely managed and trendy. Just annoying that I have to start all over again in my hair journey....If you are Asian, this salon may not be the best for you...horrible techniques and cut for our hair type. read more

I am very disappointed of the service in Salon Pure. I booked my appointment with Master Artist Level 2 and after consultation I decided to do highlights. I was there for 5 hrs and didn't dry my hair because I spent too much time in the salon. After I came home and dry my hair I couldn't believe what I saw. My hair on top look like I have a Cap of yellow hair and the bottom were completely different color. My hair looked like somebody burned it. It did not look like a job of master colorist and definitely wasn't worth $325! I called immediately for appointment for next day. The lady that did my hair was just standing and someone else was correcting my hair. After all I still had to pay for a blow dry. Ridiculous. I would never come back there again. read more

Honestly such a disappointment. I asked for brown balayage and received gaudy gold chunky highlights like we're in the early 2000's. Hair was completely damaged because I received blonde which my hair couldn't take. Stylist did not take before and after photos which was a sign as well. Have to get it redone somewhere else. Kara was my hairstylist today and I couldn't be more pleased. I came in looking like Joe Dirt because my roots were so grown out. Kara transitioned my hair into a gorgeous blend of baby lights and a smoky root drop to diffuse what was once full blonde into a softly blended rooted effect. I received a relaxing scalp massage from Robert, just what I needed to eliminate stress. The salon is clean and cozy and receptionist are pleasant. SUSAN IS AMAZING! I went from brunette to bleach blonde, and Susan was the woman of the day. I price-checked a few different places around Princeton; Salon Pure was on the pricey-er side, but the other salons I visited gave me the "uh-oh" face when I told them I wanted to bleach my hair. Salon Pure was confident, excited about my vision, and I decided that was more important than finding the best deal. With regards to cost, my appointment actually ended up being CHEAPER than I was quoted... I don't know or understand the different hair dying techniques, but Susan, my stylist, advised me to go a different route than I originally planned because it would be easier on my hair, and CHEAPER for me! The whole appointment, Susan was super transparent about when she had to mix extra bowls of bleach and how much that would cost. There were ZERO surprises about the price at the end of the visit. On to Susan... the appointment was SIX HOURS long (I have a lot of hair), and Susan was SO incredibly patient, meticulous, and consistent the whole time. I am so grateful for her! My hair looks amazing. It's the color I wanted and still very healthy. I will be back and cannot imagine going to another salon! read more

I went for the first time with a groupon, quite excited to get a decent haircut at a seemingly nice place due to its usual prices. When I called to schedule, they had no openings until 3 weeks later, whereas they display "walkins welcome" outside their salon - makes no sense. Regardless, I made an appointment since I already paid for the groupon. I arrived at 3:55pm for what I thought was a 4pm appointment, and was promptly told "you realize you're almost an hour late" in perhaps the rudest tone I have encountered from any service. Looking from the pictures, it seems the woman who had so rudely spoken was in fact the owner. The employee at the front desk was slightly more polite, but said their phone call the day before somehow did not go through and hence I was not notified of an hour earlier appointment time. I asked if I could reschedule, and was told my groupon was void entirely. TL;DR - I paid for a haircut, I did not receive a haircut, I received demeaning service. 0/10 would recommend read more

This is the only hair salon I will go to! The staff is wonderful and attentive. The price is more than I used to pay for a haircut, but I can see the difference with the quality of service, product and hair cut! I go to Kristen to get my hair done, and recommend her to everyone I know. It's also nice to walk around Princeton with your sharp new hairdo! I've also gone to Salon Pure with children (age 2 and 6) to get their hair cut there, and although the salon does not have gimmicky things for children, like silly chairs, they still make the experience fun and comfortable for kids! I'm not entirely positive who the other people saw, but I honestly went into this salon randomly because on a whimsy, I wanted my hair (then rib-length) chopped off to collarbone length & lightened for summer. I showed the girl pictures of what I wanted, and she did exactly that. Very good color and very good cut. Not very impressed. I went there on a recommendation from a friend whose hair I must admit looks wonderful. Yet, 2 hours later my hair was butchered to thinness and different lengths. Went to a girls event right afterwards and two moms asked if my children had gotten hold of the scissor. Price was fair but honestly next time they would have to pay me to undergo that maltreatment of my hair again! Went there for the first time there for manicure and pedicure. I had a groupon and was running late to my appointment (Got stuck in traffic).I called up the salon and informed them I will be running late. I got there 5 minutes late and she told me sorry we can't take you. I was really upset as I drove an hour from work to get there and just because I was 5 minutes late the technician refused to take me. The technician was not even there, she left the salon to make a phone call. The receptionist was so rude and asked me to come back the next day. I'm definitely disappointed and felt like it was very unprofessional the way she acted and was not ready to understand my situation. She should have told me when I called her up so I wouldn't have make an effort to get there and rush through the traffic!!!! So disappointed!!!! Worst experience ever... read more

I have been meaning to write this review for over a year now. Went there for a mani/pedi/wash/cut/blowdry. I usually go to La Jolie, but Pure was offering a Groupon and because scheduling with my schedule/La Jolie is sometimes challenging I thought it would be good to scout other options. The old-ish woman at the front was extremely rude and off-putting. She gave me severe attitude for not having a print-out of the groupon (I am as paper-free as possible), and said something to the effect of not having a way to track which ones have been used without the printouts. It wasn't even just what she said (which was ridiculous in itself), it was the extremely rude manner in which it was said. Part of me wanted to walk out and say "screw you" but I didn't want this to be a win for her so I stayed. I first went to the nail artist (I believe her name was susan). She was delightful and did a wonderful job. I can't remember the name of the hair stylist, but she was good too. Unfortunately, nobody good enough to compensate for Rude Woman At The Front. I will never go back. With the always-impeccable professionalism of some of the other salons just a hop skip and a jump away, there's no reason to. read more

I bought the Groupon so I saved a lot of money, but I'm not sure I would ay the full price ($70) for a wash/trim/blow dry again when La Jolie down the street is $50 (if you go with one of the less experienced stylists, but they always do a good job, and I have easy hair). Went in about a month ago for a cut and bayalage color with Kristen. Overall the place itself is beautiful. Probably the nicest salon I've ever been to. I really liked Kristen and felt comfortable with her, but I wasn't crazy about my service. For something that was close to $300 I was pretty disappointed. I had come in with a picture of bayalage color. Darker at the roots then getting lighter and lightest at the ends. She gave me the courtesy of coming back in and fixing the color making it darker at my roots, closer to the picture like I wanted because when I left it didn't really look like I got anything done that's not what you want when you spend that much money on your hair. When I came back in she told me she looked up the picture that I had shown her which I thought was sweet and I appreciated and she told me there had been a miscommunication as to what I wanted and what was written down in the book and actually done. It has been about a week and a half now and my hair is better than it was the first time, but still not where I wanted it to be. I'm just disappointed because I liked her a lot as a person and I do appreciate her effort and willingness to fix it. Really cute location. Very clean. I didn't have a problem finding it but some might as it's on the second floor above a restaurant. A few comments: 1. I would suggest being on time. Mani/pedis are scheduled every hour and a half and because the groupon deal is a popular one, they are pretty booked. If you're late, they may not be able to take you as you might run over their next scheduled appointment. 2. There is only 1 chair and manicurist so it is very limited. I had to schedule my appt. about 3 weeks in advance. 3. The experience itself was very nice. I was her last appointment so it was very quiet but we talked most of the time. 4. Was this the best shellac mani/ regular pedi I ever got? No. The pedi itself was nice but I would have like a more thorough job at cleaning my cuticles. As for the mani, the shellac was subpar at best. It wasn't applied in the best manner (a few areas bubbled, some spots are thicker than others and the sides of my nails were left untouched.) It hasn't even been a week and my nails are already chipping. 5. I do believe they are a hair salon first and nail salon second. 6. I am curious how the experience would have been had I paid the full $85 instead of $35. It seems they have different staff based on experience from "new talent" all the way to "master artists". So it was almost like I was getting "trained" on by a newer staff. 7. I'd give it a go but would most likely just spend the extra money to get a better result. read more

I am surprised to see such a negative review here. I have gone to Roberto many times, and my two daughters have also been to him. He gives a nice haircut, the salon is nice (they usually have cookies and chocolates out, plus keurig coffee or tea by the cup, soda or water). The place is usually busy, so clearly plenty of people like it there. I live in town, and can walk there now that they are above mediterra, so that's an added perk. read more

As a college kid, I can't afford the best things in life...unless the best things in life become affordable. I found out about this salon through a Groupon purchase. The location can be missed if you're looking for it from the street as it is on the 2nd floor above a restaurant on Hulfish Street. I parked in the Hulfish parking lot which is right there which made for a $5 parking fee (bleh) but a close walk to the salon. They paired me with Francisco, who is not only gorgeous, but very talented. I have very thin hair, and one side of my hair has been growing out from an old undercut. I told him my ideas of a fun, asymmetrical cut, but he gave an honest opinion that my hair should grow out a little more before trying that style. Stylist knows best, so I told him I want layers throughout my hair to make it look like the voluminous gold mane that my hair isn't, and he was able to do so. Even after blow-drying my hair out, I asked if it was possible to layer it up a bit more and he was happy to do so. I had a wonderful experience and would recommend this salon to anyone looking for a good cut! read more
