I had a huge function that Saturday and since I'm from out of town and was close to this location, I decided to give it a shot. I had booked my appointment 2 hours before for that day and when I got there I was seated immediately. I told Lin I needed a fill from my previous dip nails I had done in Houston. She immediately started by buffing my nails but she got so close to my cuticles with the drill that she cut two of my nails which was painful. She then proceeded to put pink gel over dip powder which I didn't know the difference until she started curing them. They BURNED! Beware, I had a bad experience with gel. When it came to the details, you can see in the picture that she didn't being the white polish to the edges of my bails. Overall they came out decently and looked pretty but I won't go here again in the future only because I have had better experiences at nail salons. read more

Barely cleaned up my cuticles. Painted just the center of my nail leaving gaps between the polish and my nail bed. Walked out of the salon with a manicure that looked 5 days old. Lynn took care of me today as a walk-in and did an amazing job! I love that they do gel extensions instead of acrylic. Way better for your nails. ***I went for eyebrow waxing and not manicure/nail services*** It was okay for $12. The set up is weird: the table that you lay on is in the corner so the person waxing your brows has to stand on one side and can't really see them side by side. The woman who did my brows was diligent and took a lot of time cleaning them up (not good for those who are in a rush but I was in no hurry). I had asked her to shape my brows so that they were even since one of them is thicker than the other, but since she was standing on one side I don't think she noticed that she had left quite a few hairs on one side. When I pointed it out she immediately fixed it. She put a very soothing balm (not lotion) on my brows after and said it was to help with the redness and prevent any sunburn. I am a woman of color so I don't usually get sunburned, but I appreciated her concern lol Side note: because the table was in a corner she had to lean over me and lightly rest her hands/forearm on my upper body. It didn't really bother me but be warned that they'll be really close to you. I wouldn't be opposed to going here again if I was in a bind. I was a walk in with no appointment and taken right away on a busy late Saturday afternoon. Thorough removal of dry skin on the soles of my feet after a good soak. Excellent calf massage. My toes looked great! Fair price ($32) for what I considered a good pedicure. All employees wore masks, not required for customers but virtually all customers were masked. They had two technicians work on me, one for my pedicure (she wasn't great and wasn't very nice) and another technician who worked on my manicure (she was more pleasant and actually looked like she cared about what she was doing to my nails). I want to say first that the staff is very personable and my nails looks great; my concerns are more geared towards hygiene. Below is an outline of what I noticed and what could be improved - this isn't a slight towards the shop but steps that should be taken to ensure a hygienic environment is kept in my observation. Pedicure stations: 1. Bowls do not have disposable plastic liners 2. Bowls are not immediately or obviously disinfected after each client 3. Metal callous removers are used and not sanitized or sterilized in any obvious fashion but instead stored on a haphazard table between chairs; they are left out between baskets of supplies that are in need of cleaning 4. Chairs are not sprayed with disinfectant or wiped down after each client Manicure stations: 1. Stations are messy and unkempt 2. Chairs are not disinfected or wiped down after each client 3. Station surfaces are not disinfected or wiped down after each client General Comments: 1. Towels need to be replaced; they are hard and stiff 2. The woman who started my gel removal left the foil on too long and burned my skin; she went to attend another client and I was switched to another (which is totally fine, but man does the skin around my nails still ache from the acetone being left on them too long) In closing - my nails look great but I don't feel safe returning unless hygiene standards are raised. read more

I have been going to Princeton Nails for about 2 years now. I have always loved their work and they have always had amazing service. Today, I went in to ask for a light pink chrome. I walked out with white nails. I had a few other minor problems throughout the appointment but I just brushed it off until the end when I had asked Kate to use a different chrome because it was not what I wanted. Kate had been rolling her eyes every time I asked her to fix something and at the end she had gotten very rude when I was trying to kindly ask her to change it. She tried to fight with me and tell me I was wrong. As a nail tech myself, I knew what I wanted and knew she didn't do it right. I'm very disappointed in the service today. The owner came out to talk to me and was very nice but all he told me was to go to someone else next time. I will consider going back but I will definitely not go back to Kate. read more

My coworker kept coming into work with these gorgeous gel manicures from here, so I walked in during lunch last week. It was my first time trying gel because it's expensive. Thankfully, they have a student discount, so it cost $33. My manicurist was Maria & she was very sweet. She did not hurt me while cutting my cuticles & was sooo thorough on the polish application. My pet peeve is when the sides are not fully painted, but not one of my nails has that issue! It's the best manicure I have ever received to be honest. However, I have been here a few times before for regular polish manicures with less satisfactory results. Worst gel manicure of my life. It was by far the fastest too. The tools did not look clean and the space was cramped. My gel mani was left unpolished too so it got smugy and was not a smooth finish, very gross. Around the nail, the edges of the polish, were not very clean either... pretty good and unfinished looking. The color choices weren't great either. My GEL MANICURE chipped 2 days later. Oh and they are not the best for nail designs - I asked for a stripe to go horizontal across the too of each nail. It came out crooked and uneven in thickness. I came here for a regular mani after work. I made a last-minute appt on the phone and I didn't have to wait to be seated. My tech was finishing up with someone else, so the owner herself started filing my nails so I didn't have to wait. Once the tech commenced her services, I found them to be rushed and impersonal. She literally slapped the clear finishing coat over top of my nails (and cuticles, and fingertips) and hustled me to the dryers to start her next client. The paint was so uneven that it felt lumpy to the touch, and I ended up removing it and repainting in the next day out of sheer frustration. I wanted to include a tip on the card, and the tech never asked me if I wanted to, so when I got my receipt to sign and asked where the tip line was, the tech gave me a major attitude and said that she had asked me if I wanted to put tip on the card when she had not. She asked the employee who was currently at the card machine to run a tip, and then loudly asked me how much I wanted to tip, and then voiced it out loud to the employee by the card machine!! I was so embarrassed, my face turned red. They also require that you pay prior to getting your nails painted, which makes sense, but it also means that you need to give your tip prior to getting your nails painted, making for, in my case, overly generous tipping. Long story short, I would go back to this place because it means that I can walk two feet to it after work and allow my nails to dry on the way home. I might return, but only if I am in a major time crunch. When you go, bring lots of change for meters. read more

Would NOT recommend this place. Paid $42 for a manicure pedicure which isn't cheap and my nails came out horrible and chipped substantially the NEXT day. Firs ofF the nail polish was clumpy and thick. The lady tried to ignore it until I told her my manicure looked really clumpy. She said it was "my nail". Ok, sure, as though I've never gotten a manicure before and can't tell how it should look v. how it did look. After I told her it wasn't she put some thinning liquid in the polish. Ok. So it came out average at best - it looked THICK but passable. Then she puts a top coat on. It dries and my nails look matte and horrible. I asked her why they looked that way. She didn't know and put on another top coat on as though the nail polish wasn't thick enough!! Again matte. Another top coat. What?! My pedicure also came out matte. She couldn't deny how bad it looked this time. Multiple women now looking at my nails confused. They said it was a "new topcoat." They end up rubbing my nails and that solves the problem partially. But my manicure was soooo thick from all the layers she put on that it chipped substantially the next day. I tipped before they applied the nail polish on my card because I didn't have cash and I regret it. I'd have given them substantially less. read more

I normally get my nails done in New Brunswick/Edison Area. But since my car broke down and I needed one as my graduation and a photo shooting session was coming up, I had to find a spot in Princeton within walking distance from where I live. I called and asked about the price and was told a gel mani and a regular pedi was $50 for students. I was accommodated immediately. Lucy did a good job with my pedi but the mani was awful. First, Lucy was switched to do someone else's gel mani and another woman cleaned the cuticles. Later I found that there was a bad cut on my thumb from it. It didn't hurt but it was a piece of skin missing. The gel polish was apparently running low and drying out. My gel mani appeared even at first sight but there are actually a lot of small bubbles entrapped, which really annoyed me every time I looked at my nails. The worst part is that I gave the manager guy my card for payment and did not bother to keep the receipt. Only today I found out that he charged my $60 instead of $50. What a scam! Also the atmosphere there is so depressing- the manager and the korean ladies there were super serious and looked strict. They made me feel like that I was gonna get yelled at if I didn't behave properly. It felt like no one was allowed to talk there or they'd get in trouble. read more

Make sure you go when they're not busy! Went on a busy day/time, and despite making reservations, we waited 30 minutes for manicures (2 people). I've never had such a rushed manicure in my life. It was probably 10 minutes in and out, and the polish job was uneven and had bubbles. You also pay before you get the mani (which isn't a problem usually, since I tip generously for any half-decent job), but after this manicure, I wish I could've gone back and given a smaller tip. Horrible! I went in there to get my nails filled. I live in Maryland and I am working at Princeton for the summer. When I called to set up an appointment I asked if they do pink and whites. They were very confused and then passed the phone off to some broken english asian lady. She said yes we do pink and whites. I asked powder not gel she said yes. So I go up there and she starts doing my nails no drill though. Most places use a drill to file down the hard arycil powder but they just used an emery board. Ok no biggie I though then she took out GEL not powder. I said I thought you use powder she said oh no we use gel it better for nails. Received the worst manicure I've ever paid for here! I had heard wonders about SNS while living in Texas and decided to try out SNS here since I saw that they offered it. I would've gone to another nail salon but received a holiday gift certificate here and decided to use it. I came in on Thursday and the SNS procedure was good and I was happy with how my nails looked. Fast forward to Friday night and two of my nails have cracked completely, so I went in on Saturday to get them repaired. The nail tech told me that this happened because my nails had broken underneath, but this didn't make sense because 3 other nails had underlying cracks in them. I was happy that the 2 nails were fixed free of charge, but was afraid the rest of the nails would crack soon. Today is now Monday and 5 of my nails have cracked completely with the rest having cracks in the foundation; I've never seen cracks in less than 5 days when I get gel done. I got SNS because it is supposed to be stronger and longer lasting than gel, but that is absolutely not what I received. Why pay $55 for SNS that is supposed to last 3-4 weeks when I could pay $15 to get a regular manicure that will last more than 5 days. I was hesitant to try SNS here because I have been cut on 2 separate occasions here and had gel manicures lifting and peeling in less than a week. I do not plan on returning to get anything more than a manicure here and would not recommend anyone spend money to get SNS done here unless they want cracked nails in under 48 hours. read more

I got the powder gel here. They did an amazing job, with the shape, color and stay, it is truly flawless. The person who did my nails was so nice and she seemed truly talented at her job. It was like a work of art. It didn't even take that long. The store was very clean and cozy as well as all the people who worked there were extremely hospitable. I came in (Walk in) for my eyebrows getting waxed. It's a good price - 12 dollars. First problem, when she cools the wax she blows on it. And my FACE. Firstly, the woman needed a tic tac like woah, second it's flu season and she's purposely blowing on my face. So she finishes up, no pain or anything, she did a good job with that, but then I look in the mirror and they're different heights! I look like I'm raising my eyebrow but I'm NOT. I am very disappointed by my most recent and last visit to Princeton Nails. My friends and I went to get manicures a day before our graduation and made an appointment for 6 however none of us were helped until 6:30. My nail artist was extremely rude to me and did not do a good or complete job. None of the staff apologized for the wait or tried to make up for the fact that despite having an appointment in advance, we still waited a good 30-45 minutes to have our nails done. It was a very unwelcoming environment and it was very clear that the staff cared more about making money and doing a fast but poor quality job rather than satisfy their customers.
