I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Salon Riviera and how this situation was handled. About a month before the appointment, I received an email from Salon Riviera advertising an opening on July 3, 2026. Since I had the holiday off, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to book an appointment. The only thing I found unusual was that I had to pay $247 upfront before the appointment. On July 3, I drove to what I believed was the salon in West Linn, Oregon. When I arrived, the door was locked, and the business had a completely different name. Confused, I searched for Salon Riviera and discovered it was actually located in Gig Harbor, Washington--a city I haven't lived in since 2015. I immediately called the salon to explain what had happened. I told the manager that I live in Oregon, had received their promotional email, and honestly believed I was booking an appointment at the salon near my home. Instead of listening, the manager repeatedly interrupted me, spoke over me, and eventually hung up on me. I asked if I could speak with my stylist, Aislinn, since I had already paid $247 for an appointment I obviously could not attend. The manager refused, saying the stylist was unavailable. She told me she would speak with the owners about refunding me because no services had been provided. Instead, my appointment was canceled, and my credit card was immediately charged the full $247.00. I never stepped foot in the salon. I received no services, no products, and no consultation, yet I was still charged in full. Even if the salon has a cancellation policy, I believe there should have been some compassion and common sense in this situation. I wasn't trying to cancel because I changed my mind--I genuinely believed I had booked a local salon after receiving their promotional email. Excellent customer service means listening to your customers and trying to find a reasonable solution. Instead, I was treated with rudeness, dismissed, and charged the full amount for services that were never rendered. To the owner: My appointment was scheduled with Aislinn on July 3, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. I called your Gig Harbor salon immediately after realizing the mistake. The manager canceled my appointment because I clearly live in Oregon, yet my credit card was still charged $247.00. I have the promotional emails, appointment confirmation, and credit card records showing the charge from Salon Riviera, 5401 32nd Ave, Suite 101, Gig Harbor, WA. I work hard for my money. It takes me two days to earn $247, and losing that amount for services I never received is incredibly frustrating. I expected understanding and a fair resolution, but instead I experienced some of the poorest customer service I have encountered. I cannot recommend Salon Riviera based on my experience. ***************************************************** Erica, I strongly encourage you and your team to slow down, listen carefully, and fully understand the circumstances when customers call your salon or leave reviews. I do not understand why you believe I would have called your salon to cancel an appointment when I had every intention of showing up and, in fact, did show up for my appointment. I have made every effort to resolve this matter directly, but I feel that the way this situation has been handled is unfair and unethical. Very disappointed to say the least. If I could give this business 0 stars, I would. From the beginning, they are incredibly difficult to get an appointment with. When I was searching for a haircut appointment in January, they were booked out until June. I have been rescheduled 3 times with this company and have never been able to get an appointment with ANYONE. Each time I make an appointment (and I make them at least 1-3 months in advance) I get multiple disorganized phone calls 1 week before my appointment stating "I don't know how you were able to schedule an appointment at this time, but the afternoons are booked for only our afternoon clients." Which makes no sense to me . . . am I not an afternoon client if I'm scheduled for an afternoon appointment at 4:00 p.m? Otherwise, how am I supposed to get an afternoon appointment? Keep in mind, I have waited 3 months for this appointment . . . They attempted to reschedule me for an earlier appointment in the day at 10 a.m. but I work and cannot accommodate that time. Also, I will get voicemails stating "we need to move you around to make room for one of Kelsey's other clients" and will reschedule my appointment without speaking with me. Which gives me, the client, the impression that my time is not valued or respected and they reschedule for times that are outrageous. This has happened each time I try to schedule and each time I grow more and more frustrated. Also, even after calling and canceling my appointments, I get a phone call from Salon Riveria asking if I can show up 15 minutes later for my already canceled appointment to accommodate for one of the stylist's other appointments. This is concerning as they have a no show policy that charges you the full price of your haircut appointment if you no show. I called back and the front desk had to RE-CANCEL my already canceled appointment because the first time I called "it didn't go through." Absolutely ridiculous. Bottom line - 3 strikes and I'm done. Do not waste your time if you're looking for a new hair salon - this business will waste your time, reschedule you left and right, and then charge you for a no show policy that was created from their mistake. read more

I had to change my 2nd appointment and was contacted promptly and made the switch no problem. I absolutely love the atmosphere and design inside the salon. I love this salon! Originally, I found Melanie through word of mouth for someone to take care of my daughters' hair needs. She did such a great job that myself and my older daughter also started going to her. My wife on the other hand had the need for someone who could handle her curly hair and Melanie suggested she see Jason. That was the best decision we ever made! My appointment was for 12 noon, Saturday.The salon called on Friday and asked if I could come in at 9:45 AM instead because my stylist Jennifer had cancellations and would like me to come in earlier. It was an inconvenience but I rescheduled and came in at 9:45 AM. I brought a photo of what I wanted for my haircut. I had long (past my shoulders) naturally, curly, hair. I wanted it cut shoulder length. I wear my hair naturally, air dry it and part it down the middle. I left with hair above chin length, multi layered and a cut that will take me at least a year to grow out. I have been unable to stop crying. I know it's just hair but it's important to me. I have been fighting depression because my best girlfriend of 50 years died unexpectedly. It may sound silly but looking as good as I can is important to my mental and physical health. I was trying to make myself feel better. I am a senior citizen but looking frumpy bothers me. My hair is now frumpy looking. While she was styling my hair she kept me sideways in the chair and I was unable to see what was happening. When I did see I told I wanted it shoulder length and that I guess I didn't make it plain about the length. She said I did make it clear about the length. For some reason she didn't care what I wanted. I paid and tipped her in spite of my great disappointment. I didn't make a fuss at the salon but I began crying as soon as I got outside. I am kind and respectful toward everyone who gives me service no matter how I am treated. My wonderful husband has been extra thoughtful knowing how unhappy I am. He told me I'm fortunate my hair grows fast and I'll look like myself again. We have been married for 39 years and he is always there for me. my hair will grow but I will not trust again.
